something that helped me is buying a few 'versatile lures', then pay attention to the chat when you fish in a new spot. Your first catch will say 'data added on X' where X is the spot you're fishing in.

Fishing didn't used to have the ! !! !!! indicators. Pole wiggle and sound helped determine the strength of the hook. The light helped with the pole wiggle.

The story is great, but the way SE set it up is terrible, they made it under heavy time constraints and what not. At the end of ARR they got a bit of breathing room and after that became much, much better at getting that story across in a good way

it's a lot of world building, establishing characters, places, concepts etc, but towards the end things start to get moving and interesting as you move into season 2 (HW)

Of course, and they do a decent job within their role. The thing that makes the ranged role decent for a group in high end content isn't really strict dps output (which is less needed in prog where class balance matters), but Tactician/Shield Samba/Troubadour being able to affect all damage types, at any time, without targetting anything.

So I just tried to get the newest patch to play and I was having issues with the normal FFXIV launcher giving me an error saying it was unable to download patch files [30413]. It was suggested to me to try getting the patches from the goatcorp ffxiv quicklauncher. I tried it, I was able to get a few patches done but i'm now running into similar issues.
