It's much better to figure out a nice spending habit and make gil auto regen faster.
As in, you can still "farm" gil by doing old extremes and maps, but it's really really hard to "farm" gil with the Market Board, which is where the real big money comes from.
Since whatever you start selling a lot, price can tank.

Bismarck requires very high amount of quick burst damage to quickly kill one of the snakes during the add phase

Optical is pretty obsolete since it gives haste instead of the elemental bonus, which is the much bigger factor, making the +2 helmet or Cloak better than the Optical Hat.
barding is purely cosmetic, it doesn't buff the chocobo
but you can get a few sets from your grand company with seals.
