I’ve seen this crop up frequently if you had the game installed before make sure it wasn’t on another hard drive, make sure your hard drive isn’t failing. Make sure you anti virus isn’t blocking the launcher, make sure one drive isn’t syncing

You can also try using the fan made quick launcher which generally works better overall

Also another question. When I first installed the game right now after buying it on steam I was asked to include the product code/serial number in and all. Everything went smoothly. I am now checking the mogstation on their website and it says my account is a Steam standard account and the renewal method is through the Steam subscription, but my Steam subscriptions page does not show FF there. Is there a reason or am I missing something obvious?

There is too much to list. If you don't know if something is important, it's probably not. Most things can be reacquired, especially crafting materials, which some new players hoard.

Diadem is just okay, but slower than everything else. I would only do diadem if you've exhausted everything else (out of leve allowances, did all dailies, and ocean fishing is not running yet)

How do I unlock my job?

To unlock your class' job you need to be level 30, complete all of your class quests and the main scenario quest 'Sylph Management' (lvl 20 quest) to be able to pick up your job unlock quest. Once you've done the initial unlock quest, you will be given a soul crystal which you must equip to become your class' job.
