Mounts FAQ

'When can I get my first mount?'

The quest that allows you to use mounts, 'My Little Chocobo' is unlocked by completing the level 20 main story quest 'The Company You Keep'. The quest is located at the Grand Company base you chose and you'll need to buy the Chocobo Issuance from your Grand Company Quartermaster. You can get the 200 needed Grand Company seals by doing the main story quest that comes after 'The Company You Keep'.

'Are there any differences between mounts?'

Besides looks, all mounts are the same speed along with being able to fly. Some mounts allow multiple people to ride at once.

'Can I make my mount faster?'

Zones have one or two ranks of mount speed that increase the ground speed of mounts. The first rank comes from completing specific quests in the main scenario quests, with the second rank coming from Riding Maps which are bought with either Allied Seals, Centurio Seals, or Bicolor Gemstones. Mount Speed Boosts do not increase the flying speed of mounts.

Hello, i was wondering if anyone had any advice for this error i2501. I'm brand new and played for two days during the login event. I have spent a lot of time reading forums and reddit posts, I have called SE 3 different times and they keep telling me to try again in 24 hrs. Nothing has changed, I'm simply just trying to pay for the subscription via steam and it wont let me. No vpn, tried on different browsers, tried on phone with no wifi. They just keep telling me over the phone to try again in 24hrs thats it. Has anyone had any luck regarding this, or what I should try saying to SE? I don't know what to do at this point.

Of the melee Dps classes and tank classes, which in each class are least aboht positionals. Like if I were to try Dragoon (or whatever) is there a lot in the current version of the game aboht attacking from specific angles? I don’t think I’d be good at that so would like to try a tank and a melee dps that doesn’t rely completely on positional attacks. I understand that tank positioning with regards to party is a bit different.

How do I unlock my job?

To unlock your class' job you need to be level 30, complete all of your class quests and the main scenario quest 'Sylph Management' (lvl 20 quest) to be able to pick up your job unlock quest. Once you've done the initial unlock quest, you will be given a soul crystal which you must equip to become your class' job.

Which world should I pick?

You can play on any world on any datacenter within FFXIV. Aside from the languages spoken, the physical location of the servers, and the status of each world, there are no major differences.

The majority of content is cross-world, with the exception of Free Companies, Linkshells, and restrictions when visiting other worlds.

If you don't mind where you play, choose a world that is Preferred or New for character creation bonuses. Check world status by using !status <world name> or via the Lodestone. For information about the status types, use !faq worldtype.

Notable worlds:

Balmung & Mateus (Role-playing)
Tonberry & Kujata (Large amount of Oceanic players)
Moogle (Large amount of French players)
