Recently I've gotten the itch to get back into FFXIV.
I stopped playing shortly after the Shadowbringers' MSQ before the NieR RAID came out (Patch 5.1?). After I hit level 80 on SMN. I was grinding crafting/gathering/beast tribes but that got boring.

Not sure if the right channel, but I main a Scholar but am leveling a Bard. On trash pulls in dungeons, should I apply all my dots and then AoE? Or AoE from the start? I end up doing a hybrid of applying DoTs until the first target is at 50% and then starting to Quick Nock but I feel like this isn't optimal.

- So I am level 30 CNJ, just on the quest to go into WHM i think. I have a level 30 spell Cure II but it's greyed out, eve though it says CNJ and WHM can use it. ANy ideas?
- Also, the duty roulette just has two thing for me each day 'levelling' and 'guildhests'. I understand guildhests are not useful for levelling up my non-main classes, but if i do the 'levelling' roulette in the random dungeon it gives me, that's it then, no more bonus rewards today on any class, so i may as well pick the dungeons I fancy from dungeon tab? In the duty finder, apart from the roulette levelling and dungeons, the other tabs are not good for levelling?
- I have SCH. SMN at 32, WHM (nearly), and will next try to get my level 19 THM to RDM (it's very fragile with no healing and kinda right now feels underpowered). I am behind on my MSQ, like level 25. I would like to try the non-magic ranged or tanks, but should I wait until I've gotten some proper finished jobs or begin one of those now too? Perhaps it is going to be too much to learn all at once. One of my tanks died today because i forgot i was CNJ and i felt terrible.

The tank dying does happen, but only if both the healer and the tank have failed in some aspect of their jobs. If you're the healer, you should always rez the tank immediately unless all enemies are dead. If the tank is dead, there's nobody to stop the enemies from murdering the rest of the party, including you.

Yeah, but a sufficiently skilled healer can generally keep even a scrub tank up unless there's a LOT going wrong on the tank's end.
It just means that the healer doesn't have as much time to do dps because they're spamming healing.

Happened yesterday in Keeper of the Lake because my crossbars weren't flipping the way I needed them to so when I tried to use C2 it cast Holy instead since they're on the same trigger, but different bars.
And it took me like, 4 seconds too long to notice, so the tank died, and we wiped.
On trash.
It happens though. Sometimes your gear won't be up to par, or the tank's won't, or something else will go wrong.
If you keep being a healer, you learn to either shrug it off, or do better in the future.
It never stops sucking, but you can learn from all of your failures.

Even in higher level dungeons, it's all about the speed of the run. Most people are trying to get in and get out with their rewards. There are tricks that every healer learns somewhere along the way that lets us keep up with that kind of mentality though.

Nah, you'll be fine as a BLM. You learn exactly how long you can stand in the bad, and then usually just Atherial Manipulation your butt over to a healer and continue pew pewing

In the in-game achievements window, most achievements have in game trackers that you can watch. You might have to do some math but it should give you a decent idea of where you stand.

The wording is a little funny on that one. "Going fishing" means casting your line and catching a fish. Using the Mooch skill doesn't count. Rather it counts as only one, even if you catch another fish.
