you don't have access to retainers (personal bank) or the market board so getting hardcore into crafting and gathering could be harder than it needs to be

In the main menu there's an option called HUD Layout, that will let you move around every element of the UI

as for specific patch that's a lot more difficult. SOMETIMES the patch name is the final quest name of the patch and so you can tell when you move on from that but for the times you can't do that you'd need to just look up the quest

The math is a little different because they do mostly "GCD per minute" math due to the limitations of the combat system in FF14. It's pretty interesting how the optimization in this game shook out.

yeah, that's very fair. but even then, i'd (personally) rather have a silent dungeon than one that's talkative and angry lol. of course people will all naturally get angry, and the hardcore players will want their optimization - but i think FFXIV does a great job of making sure that everyone sort of has their space outside of roulettes.

Dungeon tactics question: I did my first dungeons today as a conjurer. Was very fun keeping all the big boys alive (one died but I rezed them after a while....was trying to rez myself for a bit). Did three and it zipped me up like 6-7 levels which was good. In one though, the tank ran through grabbing huge mobs to follow them and then basically I just had to mash my heal to keep them alive and I managed and it was fast but also it was a bit annoying. Like they didn’t say they were gonna do that. Is that normal/good; or just a pro whizzing through expecting to be like continuously healed. I maybe cast one miasma and healed a DPS once.

The term "wall-to-wall" is something you should learn and it's the meta for dungeons
It means the tank goes from one "wall" (the entrance of the dungeon) to another (the barrier to the next area, usually) and pulls everything.
Healers and tanks have enough tools in FF14 to withstand all that long enough for DPS to kill them.
