@fierce cobalt materia is a good one, as well as skysteel components. They cost a monstrous amount of yellow scrips, some 3-4k per crafting job. There's also ingredients for lower level crafts that cost yellow scrips, and a couple housing items too. Also, handking is amazing. I'm in half swallowskin, half handking right now and I can still get the lv80 legendary nodes. It will carry you to 80 and then some.

No, you just have to lower the level of mobs you're trying to kill or use the co-op grind strategy.
For solo BLU, you're best off picking mobs no more than 5 levels higher than you.

Yeah, 10+ levels higher and you're going to be missing 99% of the time.
If you want to speed level BLU, find a cooperative friend to come out to Helix with you and kill level 59-60 mobs that you tag first.
It's much quicker and easier than trying to solo BLU all the way to 60.

I'm new to ff14 and I was wondering if I'm doing it right. Since lv 1, currently lv 20...I was doing exhaustive main questions that makes me go back and forth all the time for delivering items or talking to NPCs. In a few scenarios I had to kill 8 mobs and then deliver some items...I'm used to MMOs where you do quests and also grind for your gears and levels. As far as I've seen it...Am I going to be stuck to quests forever? And for the dungeons, mobs will always be tougher in terms of tankiness? Hitting a mob lv 15 and I'm being lv 15 takes a long time to kill, is that right?

@empty thicket A little later to the party, but simply: yes. The vast majority of the game, both in terms of content and zones is dependent on completion of, or reaching specific checkpoints in, the Main Scenario (
). In many ways, FFXIV has more similarities (from a progression standpoint) to the single player games in the franchise than to, say WoW, where you can just grind straight to max level and be able to access most of the endgame content without ever once really doing anything with the story. In FFXIV, the story is actually meaningful, with even most of the dungeons being tied into it. People who find themselves attracted to XIV tend to be the ones who enjoy really good story and aren't necessarily interested in grinding levels just to get to the endgame.
As for dungeon enemies, those are scaled for 4-player parties consisting of a tank, a healer, and two dps, so yes. They're always going to be tankier than same-leveled mobs out in the world. The trash mobs shouldn't take significantly longer to kill than a solo mob in the world would, though.

You don't have to start over. In every main city, you can speak to an Innkeeper to access an inn room. On the desk in every inn room is an interactable called "The Unending Journey" which will allow you to rewatch every cutscene you've completed.

hey all. I got current like, a couple weeks ago. I've cleared all of the extremes + shiva unreal ||(aside from WoL anyway)||, but finding a non pf-borne group to run the current savage tiers with has proven...difficult. That being said, I really wanna be able to do the 5.4 stuff as it comes out. Since I've mostly been pugging content I've always felt obligated to read up on the fight and such beforehand, and trying to work something out blind has been something I've wanted to do for a while
In order to do that, is there like, an ilvl I should be aiming for come this December, or will there be a quick way to acquire baseline raid gear for 5.4 when it comes out?

Not really clear what you're trying to say here. You want to use it as glamour but not as gear? You want to use it as glamour and gear?
The latter case would be kind of redundant, as you would only be able to use it as glamour for the same class(es) that can equip it, and the former... wouldn't really be an issue?

When it was current content, it was just a normal DPS check. As ilvls have continued to increase, however, it made that particular boss harder and harder to do properly because it was simply dying too fast. They never went back and corrected it either so now it's an inverse DPS check.

In order to get the Shadowbringers relic, you'll need to have completed the level 70 Return to Ivalice raid series, which starts near the airship dock in Kugane.
If you've done that, there should be a

The only possible exception might be the Crystal Tower since that's now required content, but I'm not positive.

Ashtrel, good rule of thumb is when it is not 100% HQ rate, expect a 10% chance.
I once got HQ with 1% quality, but that is dumb luck.

I've gotten HQ on 1%, and it was unintentional. I didn't even care if I got a HQ result or not.
Was just doing straightforward synths without doing any HQ enhancements on stacks of materials.
But it's just the way the game works. You get HQ when you don't need/want it. But when you desire it, it may escape your grasps.
I'm talking to you, quality gauge... giving me NQ at 73% quality.
