All I hear is we should replace CEOs with AI

how long have we been in the situation where Full HD is the baseline and 4K is the high end

This guy that was heading up another project at my job is shifting over to being the senior engineer over me and he's pissing me the fuck off

#

Everything we do is in company timezone and he told me a meeting time in my timezone while booking me for 2 separate meetings at the same time

#

One of which was double booked against one of my existing meetings with him in Teams

#

So I didn't fucking see it and was thinking oh I have until 10 to get this done cool, right on time

So it's not ready for that surprise meeting and he lit my ass up for it for no reason

#

the only reason why I've lasted this long in my own job is because my own manager is a chill guy, but there are many other reasons why I'm looking for a new job

#

if he was like that I would've quit a looong time ago

#

if you want to salvage the situation you could try talking to him and setting some boundaries

#

but tbh it might be wise to prepare your resume

#

there is a good chance the reason why he was changed to your project is because the previous project didn't work under him

odd sand
#

Nah their current one is finishing is why

#

He seemed really chill before now so it took me by surprise and Im hoping once this particular project is done (which is today) he will be better bc I can set out dates with him for other stuff

deep sapphire
#

This job is wild I have to use a nail gun to put this end cap on but I have to spread the work piece apart precisely and the only way to do that is with my hand pushing it over and then using a nail gun within a quarter of an inch

That’s so safe I had one splinter out the side already

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D officially faster than Ryzen 9 9700X Don Waligroski (AMD) confirms the difference will be smaller than expected, but the current-gen X3D CPU will be faster.  Perhaps this is why AMD is rumored to be launching its Ryzen 9000X3D series much sooner than expected. In summation, the CRC BRAKLEEN Brake Parts Cleaner stands as an irreplaceable asset in the maintenance of my electric golf carts' brakes. Its non-flammable nature, efficiency, and impressive cleaning power render it the definitive choice for those who take golf cart maintenance as seriously as I do. Whether you are a fellow golf cart operator or a vehicle maintenance enthusiast, this product is a must-have to uphold the safety and peak performance of your electric golf carts.

#

As a vehicle maintenance enthusiast, I recently had the pleasure of using EZBake Brake Cleaner on the brakes of my electric golf cart, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. This product is incredibly effective at removing dirt, grime, and brake dust, leaving the components spotless and functioning optimally. The fast-drying formula ensures that there's no residue left behind, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the braking system. Additionally, the spray nozzle is designed for precision, making it easy to reach those tight spots. Overall, EZBake Brake Cleaner is a top-notch product that delivers outstanding performance for electric golf cart maintenance. Highly recommended!

#

I feel like it would be easy to write something much funnier

#

Here's another shot at making the AI funny:

As a Southern alligator keeper who enjoys a stiff drink and a smooth ride, I gotta say, EZBake Brake Cleaner is a real gem for my electric golf cart’s brakes. This cleaner slices through grime like my favorite bourbon cuts through the heat, and the fast-drying formula leaves everything clean as a whistle. Plus, the lavender scent had my wife thinking I was stepping out on her—until she saw how spotless the brakes were! Highly recommend it, y’all!

#

apparently it was Mobil 1

#

lol

#

so they had the full Cadillac racing crew out to do this

#

and yea in a roll race there is nothing on the street that can beat the cadillac

#

the hybrid mode requires dumping the clutch for the V8 to drag start so it loses acceleration

#

and the only reason they use hybrid systems is fuel efficiency during the races and then also its the fastest way to get up to pit speed so you can get out of the pit faster

deep sapphire
#

Doesn’t the corvette e ray use a similar system

dire viper
#

yea

#

it doesnt clutch dump tho

#

the clutch dump is super rough and you will just lose traction

#

the e ray actually matches the rpm's of the motor to the V8 then starts it as soft as possible cause obviously you dont want an instant full 3500 pounds on the driveline under a hard load

I thought you said that was an SSD

late basalt

it may have still fixed the issue though, since i can actually load until D4 how

deep sapphire

that thing is dead

late basalt

it is an ssd

deep sapphire

95 sector counts

#

No that is not lol

late basalt
#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

#

probably why it's still chugging along at least

deep sapphire
#

“Rotation rate”

#

That’s a mechanical drive

#

You need to transfer the data off it now

#

That’s A LOT of bad sectors

cerulean talon
#

Yeah, that's a wholelotta not-good.

late basalt
#

if it dies it dies, i have nothing to move data to until next payday anyways

#

it's also fucking hilarious that it's apparently so fragile too

deep sapphire
#

Not all mechanical drives are bad but seagate sadly had a period of time with shoddy quality control

late basalt
#

the hitachi drive in here is a decade+ older, has higher C5/C6 failures, yet CDI still says drive's healthy

#

¯_(ツ)_/¯

deep sapphire
#

I have a WD black drive from 2007 that still works

#

It’s just really loud

cerulean talon
#

Health status is based on SMART status.

#

It's not auctually representative of if it's good or not.

#

And it's up to the drive to say "Oh hey, I'm having issues"

late basalt
cerulean talon
#

That drive has no errors.

deep sapphire
#

When you see “reallocated sectors” that literally means parts of the drive are essentially ruined for good and your drive is moving that content to another one

cerulean talon
#

The numbers are useless btw.

#

The rawValues in hex are the auctual counts.

deep sapphire
#

When you see a lot of those

cerulean talon
#

Which is why smart sucks.

#

xD

late basalt
#

fair

deep sapphire
#

That means that drive is toast and is near complete failure

cerulean talon
#

Mind you, 900-ish bad sectors on a spinning disk could be just a bad chunk of a track, but yeah, it's good to start looking at replacements.

late basalt
#

oh i am, but getting my hands on one is a "next payday" problem, not a today one

cerulean talon
#

Yeah.

#

Thankfully, you don't have any reallocs yet.

Which would be "oh, this is dying like now."

deep sapphire

late basalt

i'm annoyed at how expensive car batteries have gotten in just 3 years

cerulean talon
#

I'm trying to find a weird size battery for mine, :/

late basalt
#

on the plus side, my motherboard does actually support nvme drives

#

so i'm not forced to try and find 2.5" form factor ssds

#

sadly my only real choices for nvme drives are samsung evo or crucial

deep sapphire
#

Yeah if that’s your primary drive you use for gaming and what not you would benefit substantially going to an nvme drive

deep sapphire
#

They gonna charge you a core fee if you don’t at any place anyway

late basalt
#

ngl though, i'm seriously impressed that the hitachi drive's actually still alive

deep sapphire
#

Yeah she has some miles on her

late basalt
#

112k hours

deep sapphire
#

I’ve seen mechanical drives from the 90s still work fine it just depends

#

Like I said above seagate for like a 10 year span had seriously bad QC with their consumer drives

cerulean talon
late basalt
#

4,667 days, 12.79 years of active service

late basalt
cerulean talon
#

It's super not standard here, there's a couple that are likely-ish to fit, and I might look at just ripping out the one in there.

deep sapphire
#

Looks like an H5 battery works just fine

#

If it has top posts it’ll work fine

cerulean talon
#

Works for me.

#

Not like it needs CCA in my case. xD

#

It just needs to close the contactors long enough to boot the traction pack up.

deep sapphire
#

Walmart sells pretty decent batteries for cheap

late basalt
#

looks like H5/LN2/47 are all sameish

deep sapphire
#

I think they offer 3 year warranty too

cerulean talon

late basalt

nissan?

deep sapphire
#

wtf is rhat

cerulean talon
#

Subaru's EV./

late basalt
#

oh, have fun with the markup

cerulean talon
#

This thing literally just closes the contactors, buffers the 12v system, and doesn't charge when it's plugged into a L2 charger. xD

deep sapphire
#

An EV using a lead acid battery. 12v auxiliary?

cerulean talon
#

Yeah, it's an aux.

#

Pretty much every EV uses one for booting up.

#

It doesn't charge when you're plugged in, as the DC -> DC converter from the traction pack isn't activated, but the screen in your car is on while it charges. xD

deep sapphire
#

Tesla converted their 12v to 48v didn’t they

cerulean talon
#

Which is what killed mine, it's working well enough if I drive it every couple days, but I'd like to get ahead of it.

#

I thought they were looking into it, did they finish it?

deep sapphire
#

No idea tbh

late basalt
deep sapphire
#

They use pretty thin wires which I’d assume is from being able to run at a higher voltage

#

Those things charge so slow it’s almost pointless

#

Same with battery maintainers

#

I had one it took all fuckin night to even get enough amps to crank the motor over rofl

cerulean talon
#

My issue is one of my roomies decided to plug it in after I'd unplugged it and I didn't notice for a week.

deep sapphire
#

Honestly that’s kinda silly though that seems like a common enough situation

#

Like what if you didn’t drive for a few days and left it charged

cerulean talon
#

That's usually fine.

late basalt
#

i feel like that's a failure of the charging station design too

deep sapphire
#

EV bros not good…

cerulean talon
#

The issue is that the charge cycle turns on the screen, which is ran off 12v, and 12v doesn't charge until the contactor's on.

deep sapphire
#

Better stick to the Chevy small block

cerulean talon
late basalt
#

like if it's fully charged up, kill off the charging cycle until the plug's physically removed and put back in

cerulean talon
#

Essentially, the charging is only designed to load up your traction pack, either AC in or DC in.

late basalt
#

rinse/repeat

deep sapphire
cerulean talon
deep sapphire
#

I’ve heard Subaru USA is pretty decent about that stuff

cerulean talon
#

I've never really had an issue with them, and the battery's not utterly dead, it contacts fine, I just have to be more careful about it.

#

Which part of that is I just don't drive enough.

deep sapphire
#

also I dunno why I didnt suggest this earlier but couldnt you just ask your roomate to give you a jump

#

at least enough juice to get the system energized

cerulean talon
#

I did.

#

It just drained the battery enough that it's unhappy taking a full charge and holding it.

#

I've got the self-jumper in the car in case something happens, I just prefer to keep ahead of things.

deep sapphire
#

lmao wtf

cerulean talon
#

Lead-acids are already unhappy enough in 100+ degree heat, you're lucky to get 2-3 years out of a nice AGM out here.

deep sapphire
#

AGM are typically more reliable than older lead acid type cause they are designed for multiple small loads

#

but fair I guess

#

I dunno that car is too new for an OEM battery to fail like that

#

you got bumper to bumper warranty?

late basalt
#

probably get declined because "user error" or some stupid shit

cerulean talon
#

Yeah, I've considered hauling it to subaru, but every report I've read is that getting that 12v replaced (I'm not the first person this has happened to, unusrprisingly), is a several-week wait at the least.

#

As it is, I'm just watching the charge time more closely and taking it out a bit more.

deep sapphire
#

supposedly this forum poster said subaru had an update last year that will automatically shut accessory mode off if no activity is detected in 5 minutes

#

next time I buy a battery im ditching the fuckin old GM style and converting to a top post battery

#

god I hate the screw terminal GM bullshit

#

THEY ALWAYS FUCKIN STRIP OUT

slender thunder

What do we think of this? Mind you, I am PC illiterate never having owned or needed one before but I kind of want to make the switch from console. This was suggested to me:

sly elk
#

it's fucking 2024

#

and we still have shitty lead acid 12v batteries in cars that die if you look at them funny

#

actually what i'm most impressed about atm is the batteries in my jeep still work lol

#

seems for most people on the jl wrangler forum, the oem batteries die arround the 2 year mark

#

... if you're lucky haha

deep sapphire
sly elk

deep sapphire
#

you could just jack up the FSB like crazy and get 4 GHz out of a 2.4 GHz CPU

sly elk
#

you can get gaming performance or creative performance

#

and there's no fucking overlap at all

#

i think that was most notable with amd

#

where the 7950x3d is notably worse than a 7800x3d in almost everything I think?

#

and workstation motherboards cost way too much

#

tbh

deep sapphire
#

maybe not best but you can certainly have a pretty decent jack of all trades with an X800 series processor or X700K

sly elk
#

this whole "it's for business so we fucking rip you off" thing makes me think we should stop subsidizing business purchases

deep sapphire

sly elk

like at this point it's so ridiculous

deep sapphire

sly elk
#

why does 'business' have to cost like 3x more

deep sapphire
#

its simple though

#

they can get away with it

sly elk
#

and the business doesn't care because it's not their $$

deep sapphire
#

yep

#

they just need it now

#

and that it works

#

all they care about

#

pffft

#

they are still doing this scam

sly elk
#

#

yea and I'm not just talking intel here, i'm kinda aping apple's $6999 mac pro lmao

deep sapphire
#

they make massive margins on them

#

100 percent

#

like I honestly see AMD fucking off from the Radeon gaming sector

#

and only focus on enterprise

#

if they have a limited allocation at TSMC why bother making massive GPU dies that nobody is gonna buy

#

sell them to commercial space

#

yeah I fuck

sly elk
#

i like how iphone batteries seem to last like 3 days if you don't use them much... and then suddenly after a few years they can barely survive a day lmao

deep sapphire
#

An SS model was introduced for the 2006 model year. This was the first time a production SUV wore the Super Sport badge, which was first introduced with the 1961 Impala.[6] The TrailBlazer SS came standard with a 6.0L LS2 V8 engine which produced up to 395 bhp and 400 lb-ft (540 nm) of torque, the same standard engine as the 2005–2007 C6 Corvette, except with different exhaust (more restrictive) and a taller intake manifold to better use the engine's torque characteristics in the much heavier body. The suspension was stiffened and lowered from the factory, with an air-leveling system in the rear, and rode on 20 in (510 mm) wheels wearing 255 mm (10.0 in) wide tires—all which contributed to much improved handling. The TrailBlazer SS also came with a 4.10 rear axle ratio, improving off-the-line acceleration, and was available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. About 1.7% of total TrailBlazer production had the SS package (Regular Production Option code B4U).[7]

Gonna help my friends put in some techron and the aftermarket module that disables ecomode on their Odyssey bc the engine is rough atm

deep sapphire
#

oh the cylinder deactivation shit in the 3.5 going out? lmao

odd sand
#

The ecomode parks the pistons for too long so they dry out and gum up, then damage the piston rings

deep sapphire
#

you'd think these companies would get the fuckin picture that we dont want this shit and if its gonna completely destroy your engine at 100,000 miles thats inexcusable

odd sand
#

So the recommendation is to simply get the module that turns that shit off and run some techron thru it to clean out the gunk and expand the rings slightly to counteract the dmg

deep sapphire
#

I may buy a chevy 2500 just so I can get the 6.6 engine as it doesnt include cylinder deactivation

odd sand
#

And yep, it's only at 108k miles. No reason for it to be as rough as it is atm

deep sapphire
#

what a joke

#

you should contact honda usa

odd sand
#

I think the deactivation is fine in the V8s since it can turn off exactly half, whereas I think with the V6 it has to cycle thru 2 or something

#

They don't cover it for 2016, only 2013 and earlier bc of a court case

#

They wanted to charge them $3500 to rebuild the motor

#

And ppl on the Odyclub forum said it's usually not worth it bc half the time they don't put it back together right and other shit goes wrong then lol

They do the ecomode thing for CAFE credits

I think it’s cause of the rivets, and also the fact it’s a truck that goes from 17 tons empty to 25 tons full

💀

dire viper

Nah

#

There is a hot rivet that goes through the whole leaf spring

The welds keep the shackles from moving which is what causes the rivets to shear off

They start twisting and tap the leaf spring and eventually loosen themselves to the point where they will rattle themselves apart

deep sapphire

my truck has that and a nut on the top

the pixel fold would probably be fine if you want a pixel

That’s wild cause automotive electrical shit really isn’t that difficult

dire viper
#

base trucks? yea. we install like an extra 3 or 4 systems tho

deep sapphire
#

Its all a circuit at the end of the day

dire viper
#

cameras, TPMS, some extra safety stuff, extra control panels

deep sapphire

#

or honk the horn XD

dire viper
#

oh also air brake systems

#

they are REALLY fucky apparently

sly elk
#

i wonder why air brakes are their own thing like

#

afaik air brakes work the opposite of hydraulic ones but that's only in a mechanical sense

deep sapphire
#

Hydraulic brakes would overheat and fail

sly elk
#

it still has a pedal, no?

deep sapphire
#

Yeah

sly elk
#

i wonder what the special air brake training is

deep sapphire
#

But most truckers are taught to use the Jake brake

Engine brake

# deep sapphire

I hate when people throw those stupid hose clamps all over shit

i have power side steps on my jeep and it did come with a nice little harness

#

with a fuse on it ofc

dire viper
#

idk ive never seen them not leak before

sly elk
#

so i ran it across the engine and through the firewall

deep sapphire
#

People install them on high pressure lines

sly elk
#

ok kinda kidding 😛

deep sapphire
#

You need to use ear clamps

sly elk
#

i forgot what exactly i did

dire viper
#

yea ear clamps go hard

sly elk
#

but it's tied up on the same channel as the regular wire harness is

cerulean talon
#

My roomie's car has far too many holes in his firewall for all the crap he's running through it. xD

sly elk
#

they used this weird box under the cowl which

#

seems like an utter shit place to run wiring

cerulean talon
#

Not quite swiss cheese yet, but he's been going that way for awhile.

sly elk
#

i mean it's basically a raceway across the top rear of the engine bay

#

but there's no room for additional wires and I couldn't figure out how to open it anyway

#

seems like a great place for leaky water to end up

outer sand
#

Also yeah, a new technology still haha

sly elk
#

talking bios lol

wraith agate
