@sly elk doing some more digging, for the Jeeps with the bubbly paint, it is literally just them not using enough paint around those areas

Typically spots like that are created by micro scratches through the paint that allow particles to get in and bubble

So either they aggressively sand down those parts after paint or it’s just not enough paint

I don’t expect to see anyone driving with them on (now). But drop the latency and build a CarPlay interface for it and you could argue it is ‘more’ safe since you would never have to look down (and apple can limit what is shown). Hell, build in a ‘dash cam’ style feature that records the 30 seconds that happens before a detected crash and 30 seconds after and the insurance industry would push them.
