Think the DAC on my new Asgard amp/dac combo is busted

Worked for one song then I tried to start another and it cut out after a second. Reconnecting the USB would let you try it again and once again sound would cut out after 1 sec.

Plugged in the Modi via RCA inputs bypassing the onboard DAC and it works fine

When I built my new one I rebuilt my old parts in a new case and an old GPU for my niece and nephew. Then took other old parts from myself and my friend and got a 12100F for my parents to replace the Core i3-3220 I built them in 2012. That system was $300 but something was starting to fail in it intermittently.

Same with the previous old system the nephew had, it was a 3770K but the onboard USB was dying and had trouble booting sometimes so

At least that's what they claimed. I gave them a USB riser card and he said it didn't help, but I'm not convinced he even put it in lol bc it was still in the box

And knowing his personality (the dads), if he installed it once I doubt he would have pulled it back out and put it back in the box.

So if I can fix it up, I was thinking of giving it to one of the local schools if they have a use for it.

And 3rd gen is right when the rapid mudflation of CPUs stopped, so it had really long legs compared to CPUs even 2-3 years previous.

In the 2000-2010 window you were lucky to get 18 months out of a CPU before you started feeling it was losing pace and by 3 years it was almost painful

Remember playing Brothers in Arms when it came out and my average fps was like 25 and in fights would get down to like 15 lol
