It's a matter of routing. If you do a tracert between you and the servers, the path it takes could have some trouble spots. The VPN tends to be the shortest peering to a major datacenter in the area of the servers, so it can bypass issues sometimes

The IP I had for the tracert there is for the JP datacenter. So you open cmdline then type "ping 124.150.157.156"

And that should tell you if you have packetloss, otherwise tracert is the other command with the IP to see the route there

now, if you want to Actually check the drive is good/bad, Before blindly running scans.

download CrystalDiskInfo, and if it says the disk is good, then its likely not an issue.

outside that, your issue is, as already guessed, network related

and there is a reason thats the guess, because its the most likely.

you can try and get around it with a VPN, and hope your ISP fixes it or whoever else beyond your ISP is that has caused it, fixes it.

CloudFlare WARP VPN, is free, but you can't choose where it connects you to, however if the issue is just an issue with your ISP or somewhere close to you, it will get around it. I've used it to get around local routing issues myself before.

More likely that it’s the asus motherboards failing and killing the chips. Needs more investigation though.

Believe it or not people were shitting on Der Bauer when he first reported a CPU getting fried, for “going straight to 1.5v and killing the CPU” completely ignoring the fact that such a catastrophic failure shouldn’t happen in the first place, let alone that easily.
