some modems have built in advanced diagnostics that will show you signal str

but that being said, I would contact your ISP

they might be able to do a simple test on their end before they send a tech out

Assuming you can log into the modem, you should be able to connect to 192.168.100.1 and look at the signal strength and that will tell you if you need a tech to come out. upload strength should be like 35-45 dbmv maybe as high as 48. If you start going to 50+ you risk the connection dropping out if you get signal jitter

At some point my parents had "internet problems" so the tech decided my 2 year old docsis3 modem I had given them was insufficient and they gave them a spectrum one and ran coax to my old bedroom and put the modem up there instead of leaving it at the utility junction in the basement

But now that I want to setup the edge router and switch down there again, I need to move the modem back
