Shove it into a testing jig
Fair enough
Do it faster or we send you to the intel slave basement where they clip plastic tabs off the included fans.
I've got a friend that helps do board layout, but they aren't doing stuff with cutting edge litho. Probably still doing like 14nm or something
at the end of the day, a huge chunk of the price inflation people are bitching about is because factories shut down for covid and all the inflated items are things that can only be made in person
Which makes sense tho since their thing is making electronics that survive extreme heat/cold or shock
WFH baker pls
Mmmmm
but WFH jobs get paid gross amounts of money to tap at a keyboard all day, so they don't understand why things are getting so expensive
ironic because the same people complain about not being able to wfm
I think it all depends on the job. Part of WFH was pointing out how many jobs didn't need to be in-person to do the same work, and in many cases you're more productive bc you aren't being looped into meetings for no reason all day, and randomly having ppl knocking on your door to chat for 5mins 10x a day
sure, but getting paid $200k+ is a bounty to get people to congregate in silicon valley
Well yes, getting paid 100% the same as someone in SV doesn't make sense
expecting $200k to live in bumblefuck alabama is like, grossly distorting how much liquidity is out there
which is exactly what happened when the faang companies said you could wfh, they all fled to cheap suburbs or states
with huge amounts of excess liquidity since they're getting paid like silicon valley
Well I won’t deny I felt software engineering is overpaid and overblown. But hey everyone’s out there trying to make the world a worse place in the first place. Might as well enjoy what you can
I took a pay cut moving to WI from CA but it was not totally CoL adjustment drop
They do adjust wages for remote work, by how much lower idk
I took like a 10k cut but a full CoL adjustment would have been more like 20-25k lower
I'd love to never have to commute to my job 😔
yea that kinda shit ends up burning us hard later on
it already is with fabs
the whole
"oh TSMC can't just build fabs in the US because you guys don't have people who know how to operate them and don't have the kinda engineers that you need"
right! It's not because americans are too dumb. It's because the companies don't wanna pay americans to do that
so the people smart enough to do that, go work for google or something and make 300-500k/year
as for the getting paid high salary vs cheap cost of living location
it's a very screwy supply vs demand game
I really don't think it's wise to argue things like "don't move to Wisconsin if you wanna keep getting paid a high salary because COL!" because as an engineer I'd be shooting myself in the foot saying that
why would I ever advocate for people to get paid less?
that's a horrible idea.
the way the prices of everything keep going up and up and up and never going down
you should always advocate to improve income lol
yeah, but then the bootlickers come out and shout you down saying that more money will bankrupt the entire economy
only CEOs can get paid more
peasants should get paid bullshit and like it
lmao, imagine TSMC paying US engineers proportionally what they pay their engineers in taiwan
my argument is that intel and to some degree, the US gov, should be trying to change that situation as hard as possible
it may end up sounding like a foolish waste of R&D $$ but
CHIPS bill

Yeah realistically if I wasn't brought on by my friend I would probably have jumped to another company bc I've been there 3 years now and only getting 5k more than I started
I.. don't think that bill stipulates actually trying to attract more people
I'm only making a little over double what I made in 2008
like in an ideal world I think those companies should be trying very hard to recruit the EEs that are working as software engineers
and anyone else with any other degree with things like free training/education
Part of the reason is supposedly in Y2 of the contract more money is supposed to be opened up as they overhired a bit at the start expecting attrition. So Y2 of the contract has more money for raises as some ppl have quit
hardware EEs get different training/education than software EEs though
I'm well aware of the difference
<- has a computer engineering degree
at my uni there were a half dozen EE specializations
CE was basically EE/digital systems with extra requirements
very few people bothered going all the way with device physics and vlsi and other chip design stuff because it just doesn't pay lol
who doesn't love to get paid $75-80k a year working 60 hours a week on a double shift line
Yeah, hardware EE we are alphas and god and software eats glue.
whatever you say lol
I found device physics fascinating but didn't continue since I didn't think it was worth the career prospects
tbh I'm pretty happy working on the stuff i work on. though 😉
what people think it's like to work in Information Security
what it's actually like
that is.. definitely what I imagined
Yeah I haven't done much driving in the last 3 years
Although I guess I compensated by going on a number of longer trips, so I've actually put more miles on in the last year than expected
I blame the drive to Tahoe being like 5hrs or so. It being in the same state distorts your sense of distance
Bc like atm if I go to Gencon in Indianapolis that is like a 5-6hr drive and that seems soooo far away
Now if ppl will just let you send kids out to play without getting CPS called, think of all the extra time in a day regained /s
return all the drives, buy a single 8tb nvme, ez
Put like 10k miles on the first year I owned the Stinger. Although the 2 years before that with the Mazda I think I maybe did 6k lol
I'd be yeeting that motherboard by now >>
no seriously, I would
OOOO YOUR ICON!
Ponta 💛
in Ice's case there's a pretty well known issue with z690 and multiple nvme so I'd be surprised if it was a power issue
I have an asus z690 board with 2x nvme, wonder if mine will start vanishing
my suggestion was semi serious
you said you can't return the mobo but you can return the drives
buy a single huge nvme
8tb is kinda expensive though, like $1.50/tb?
yeah it's great so far thanks
on the plus side, it'd be a lot easier to do that, than it would to get a new motherboard
and yeah it'd probably cost him at least a few hundred extra
just might be a solution
My friend, it seems you're about to dive down a deep deep rabbit hole
Godspeed
Take it away, Ice

my Asus z690 and 2x nvme seem fine, I almost want to try and replicate your errors
one suggestion
would be to go back to the PSU's original 24pin cables
maybe swap all the cables out for a day or two and see if the crashes go away
honestly i'd only trust oem cabling
you'd be a fool not to rule it out
Maybe load them into a riser card in a x8 slot instead? Or would it have the same problems?
They said they won't allow you to exchange the board? Or did you do that and the new board has the same issues?
Ask them if you can exchange for a different SKU then
I read xmp 1 is more stable/tested
yes
feeling hashtagblessed that mine is stable after 2 weeks
it's just a process of elimination to make sure
I read xmp1 is the settings that asus has tested
I'm not THAT interested in replicating it
honestly first thing I'd do is run the stock cables
yea there's probably a miniscule difference running XMP vs stock JEDEC timing anyway
some nice ddr3 you have there
yea, though I'd still be surprised if that was causing the instability
-checks his own-
maybe, could get lucky
Will Win10 fully support the CPU features for the new Intel CPUs or are they going to pull that nonsense where you need to be on the newest OS to use all the features?
are trading laws fucked in canada or something?
like this board clearly isn't fit for purpose
Just sell it on Amazon then and buy a different SKU
chargeback time
round 2
Icehunter Strikes Chargeback
mine are probably all auto too
turn on xmp, play games
xmp1
sheeesh
viktor thanks for your education on this topic 🙂
I will revisit my motherboard's voltage values later lol
Viktor reminding me of that Psycho guy with this level of detail
Psycho was a username btw, not a judgement lol
he was into extreme overclocking, hung out here a while
that was very common in overclocking back in the day
he was a bit of an OC madlad tbh, had world records in some stuff
disabling all the power saving features
Thanks for warning me off of getting any Asus rog motherboard now when I do my upgrade tho /s
i will buy msi again
word lol
long as they release a white one eh? ;)
always the way :p
for my board they had to simplify the bios to continue fitting it on the bios chip and support more modern microcode
just sitting here with default kit, no rgb, no errors
the max variant addresses that but i'm real happy they continued to support my board
I think that motherboards with black accents will still probably look fine in a white case/build with white accessories
tape the ports and use white plasti dip
lol I think it'd look better as-is
but I fall into the 'all pc parts are beautiful' category so I don't really care about mix-matching
so I couldn't resist and I bought myself one of those new-in-box trashcan mac pros
they of course shipped it fedex.........
hope they don't trash the poor trashcan
aren't those still really expensive?
like I swear a used basic one was still 4 figures
apple
high 3 figures
yea, I know it's old af by now (they still sold them until 2019 though so, it's probably not a 9 year old unit)
i spent like a week thinking about it
but I'm falling into "shit I'd buy more if I had a need for more computers" lol
true but it's still supported
it won't run ventura but it runs everything up to that
vintage hw is cool now btw
and there's still 2 years of security updates for the current OS
😎
and usually even then, it's pretty safe to keep using those soooo
perfect for Halo and
-shrug-
I already have a very nice desktop that I plan to continue upgrading lmao
driver support hardly matters
oh they switched it out with a w5500x
still nothing to write home about
w6900x is a $5400 option
oh hardware-nerd-wise I adore the 2019 model as well
if you look only at the specs on paper (xeon, 5500x, ram, ssd) it's an awful awful deal hahaha
yeah but that isn't cool
but it is a machine with a like $1500 motherboard and a probably $1000 case
we could tlak all day about how nobody needs a $1000 case and hardly anyone needs a $1500 motherboard
you don't need more than $100 of either
it and the trash can were definitely the result of too many yes-men
but I still enjoy admiring them
from the hardware nerd point of view the trash can's a beautiful little machine
the cheese grater is sexy
such a cool design
it's the computer equivalent of buying a n embody chair when you could pay half as much and get a steelcase gesture and have the same basic performance
yup
the trash can's competition
yea lol
we had one of these into the store i used to work in, i was tempted to take it
and I mean, those towers have their own pros like fucking 5.25" drive bays <3
sleeper build a go go
I am ready to ignore price changes as much as possible
I mean, I bought a 3070ti FE at msrp 3 weeks ago, so I'll definitely ignore prices lol
Yeah atm I honestly dont know what to expect. Like if ppl looking for a card should buy now or wait for 40 series
The realist in me says since Nvidia is bloating the cards for the 40 series, they're probably going to set the MSRP at like 30% higher than 30 series even if they're swimming in cards
Dude is your motherboard ok
it's busted smh
just like redout was when it hit egs
Imagine trusting Discord with payment info
imagine trusting
Claimed it earlier lol, I love me a free game
delicious free stuff
I love how they nail the amazing HR hair vs messy programmer hair
when it works 🙏
this isn't the first free game that has had problems which makes me question whether it's the platform
https://youtu.be/iYU1OskbY-Q the video everyone has been waiting for 🙏

We're benchmarking and reviewing the Thermalright 12th Gen CPU Contact Frame, which competes with Thermal Grizzly's $35 contact frame that we recently reviewed. Our viewers highly requested the Thermalright frame for review, so in this testing, we're evaluating the pressure perfo...
Still cheaper than thermalgrizzly
So like 3 Ugga Duggas?
I should actually benchmark mine at some point
My gpu sure gets hotter than that though
Is cinebench free?
is that the lad?
do I just click start on multicore?
you mean minimum test duration off?
multi or single?
multi?
it's more expensive though
and using hbm3 or whatever nvidia would surely charge that much more if they did
is it meant to be that fast?
i mean can't compare new tech to old stuff for cost
it says 22888
professional only
it makes 0 sense for consumers
the gains are too low and people wouldn't pay the prices for it except the highest end pretty much
hurrah I'm beating their 12700k result by a whopping 76
margin of error 🙏
just gonna leave this thing on basic bitch boost
yeah just tells me it's running as it should, pretty much
Single core test is slow af

winner
@tame fulcrum is your shit still bluescreening

so you might be fixed?
miracles do happen
next time maybe don't buy for aesthetics
buying for aesthetics is literally the worst especially for a white build 🙏
why though, are you looking to break your CPU for epeen?
73c here
oh up to 85c on Enhanced
that's enough for me
DTS temps are always a little lower than Enhanced
also would make sense for mine to throttle on a torture test, I'm on air and Ice is on fancy water shit
quite impressed how quickly cpu has gone back below 30c though
doesn't avx2 automatically force the multiplier throttle through the bios?
I was rocking a 4690k until 2 weeks ago, get out of here with your fancy new 6th gen
ah, that was a blast back in the day, telling people to run furmark and then laughing when people said their computers stopped working
33C 😩
better
😌
I know
it's the best when you go outside and you can feel the moisture vaporizing out of your skin
nice and hot
perfection
manila is like florida though
like getting hit in the face with a wet towel
I managed to set the psu cable into my gtx 960 on fire once
it wasn't fully plugged in
didn't kill gpu or psu either, just had to swap out the modular cable
maybe it was my 560ti actually
idk, it was a while back
msi
They sell SPF15 still even? Anything under like SPF30 is worthless and even then you should probably have SPF50
I can taste it lol
Shuue
you should know by now that scuffing someone's shoes is a fast track to the morgue
just a weee bit
i should south some money sometime
hank on his way to #technology-discussion
that looks kinda NSFW
Speaking of AC, TFW I'm thinking about going to office on fri cause I don't wanna find out how hot it is at home during the day
classic GM
i mean
having ccooled seats kinda makes up for it
but imagine having cooled seats and a crotch vent
has a few OK moments but is largely unliked?
evga made a weird carbon fiber frame that isn't exactly a case and decided to charge $1600 for it?
hasn't evga learned their lesson that they don't make good products when they try something out of their core competency of GPUs
Every fucking day there's a new ice thing

what ram kit is this?
not unheard of xmp spec not being stable on corsair dimms / few other kits
might be able to loosen the subtimings leave primary alone and itll work perfectly fine
oof.. yeah corsair ram has never been great.. to be honest if the kit is new enough you can probably return and get a new kit or go through warranty send it back and let them send a new kit
dont risk overclocking and risk losing warranty options
Should've just bought g skill
rip! yeah corsair is one of the few "big brands" that still doesnt sell consistently performing high performace kits of a ram especially for the rpice they sell them it its pretty wild... trident z all the way
their binning process must be terrible over there
Nobody said these things when I was buying corsair ram a few weeks ago
ive had a good amount of problems with lpx in the past, and again problems like this are still a small percent case to case, but on a company wide perspective their return rates/failure rates of kits is actually a problem they should invest in fixing
Maybe I just did a good job and also got lucky at picking parts that play nice together
I'm not doing anything extreme though
yeah i mean its all luck of the draw lpx being some of the worst but even at that its only a 5ish % chance of getting a bad kit, its just all volume at which they sell 5% is really high
550$ dead kit
Amd killed it
their nicest ram should really have zero problem hitting xmp/above xmp even the cheapest crucial ballistix kits just about every single kit will hit far beyond xmp
trident z being one of the best kits for overclocking with samsung b.die
I just don't have the energy to min max my rig these days
yeah ram oc is awfully slow and boring
5hours - 2 days to get the most.. with a high chance of just killing the kit
but the most gains as well
but at this point 30 series gpu's and new cpu's give well enough performance that its not even worth the time
40 series right around the corner with double the performance rumors still holding true
This new build seems stable, performs pretty well, got a decent cinebench score and doesn't explode running prime 95 so I'm content
what hardware is it if you dont mind me asking?
Lemme see if I still have the pcpartpicker url
aye very nice, love the look of the nh-d15 and especially in the h510 flow all black everything looks great,
you should pickup the noctua chromax black covers for it
i have pics of them on a black and white build i did for a friend
the caps are about 30$ iirc
they just slide over the cooler very easy to install
they come in black too
I don't care about aesthetics in my computer at all tbh
touche
No rgb etc
yeah no rgb for me here either but i do like aesthetics
It's not in sight either
My 2nd system (3090 is in my main computer but for the pic it’s in here)
Anybody could have told you that
yeah i mean. 12900k lol can't really get anything better than that rn xD
loool
yeah.. its pretty overkill for 99% of users
but depending on when you purchased might be late since amd pcu's releasing soon, and new intel 13th gen
pcmaster race and a lot of the tech specfic servers have build list shills
very very harsh on hardware purchased if its not absolute bang for the buck value
new amd probably not goign to be worth no matter how good the cpu is, they are ddr5 only motherboards and ddr5 still sucks especially for how expensive it is lol
I mean if 13th gen leaks are true you’re losing a lot not using ddr5
At least Ice actually needs a chonky pc for work and has a decent amount of money
Can't believe I just defended Ice
yeah that is very true
still not going to be in anones bang for the buck builds/value though
more for the enthusiast or higher end budget market
It’d be a waste to go 13th gen and not ddr5 if they are true so i mean we’ll see in the end
yeah for those going 13th gen very true, too bad most people that went 12th gen got ddr4 boards not expecting the gains to be great with ddr5, but its also a much bigger investment for no real worthy gains on time of release of 12th gen
I'm not a fan of looking at next gen, just buy the best thing you can afford when you need a new thing
yeah im still on 5000 series amd back when 5950x came out, and 3970x for workstation as it was all the best at the time of building and i dont plan to upgrade until theres really a big step up thats worth the change / once my system feels dated and then ill repeat the process in probably another 2 years
i do upgrade gpu's but thats all
I’m going to see how good/bad 7000 is before i decide, i kind of want to wait for 8000 though
yeah when the tech jumps this high after 1 generation if you already have previous best wait for the new technology to be perfected (good ddr5 in this case in hopefully another year)
enthusiast momento
No 🙏 pc building is a hobby
no such thing as "need" to get us to buy the new loot!
Pay college tuition instead my dude
although im lucky enough to do commission builds for people on the high end so i can not spend my own money and still enjoy working with the new tech
Sticking with dicks?
wut
Lol bidori works there
No, but idc for college
If i choose to do any schooling it’d be a trade
i didnt do any college but i also want to do as little as possible for as much as possible
i can't see myself working in construction for high amounts of money
That still costs no?
100x less than college
not college money lol
I could pay it in one paycheck pretty much
Do it
in this job market right now trades are needed.. can actually make some insane money
Will probably encourage my son to learn a trade rather than university, he's not as academically inclined as my daughter
i work in the offices of a construction business some of our carpenters/foreman make 180k a year lol
plus all their benefits
Yeah, trades can make some really good money
I’m set for location lol

My son is only 10 though so we'll see
or really self driven
His ideal job right now is building lego displays lol
thats good for the brain lol
Master lego builder 🙏
Real job but supposedly a pain in the ass
I told him it's not impossible but he'd have to get lucky and have a backup plan
i could imagine that being creatively exhausting at a point
He'd hate that I think, but he's 10 so he'll probably change massively in the next few years
alright people im outta here for now, going to get some lunch and finish up my friday here at the office so i can get gaming, im still super new to ffxiv only level 23 .. this weekend is grind time

Get on that msq and don't be afraid to ask for help

TRUE FACTS
yeah already got loads of help in the main chat
especially good advice on how to get a goobbue minion
thats the goal this weekend
but yeah taking my time through the msq's getting all the lore
i just require goobbue mount and minion
its gotta happen
anyone here with ipadOS16 beta?
22% faster than intel, but at what cost 😔
DDR5 finally catching up to DDR4 in performance?
yeah, it's almost there
or is it still in that miserable "we're fucking around with board design trying to get the thing working in spec" stage
probably a bit of both lol
new product faster than competitor old product is how it should be
yeah
but the real question is how much faster will 13th gen be than 12th gen
especially since it's a tok architecture i don't think we'll see that big of gains
also especially since half the die is tied up in high efficiency cores
so there's no ornery V8 equivalent on intel's side
can't post the gifs but imagine the gif of the pig shitting on its balls
i'd rather not
especially with the rumors about arc right now
they spent too long trying to strangle amd enough to stay market dominant but not so dominant that they get sued
amd has an extremely powerful poison pill so they can't even be bought out assuming they did shit the bed again

isn't dall-e open source?
just compile it yourself on your $25k machine
put that 3090 SLI to use
with all the broken parts you've put into it it cost $25k
I think the one on the left used the pogchamp guy as a reference
its not
you cry about intel rumors
but post AMD

what?
Great news: Everyone who currently has a reservation can get their Steam Deck by the end of this year! We’ve cleared up supply chain issues, a bunch of folks got moved up to Q3, and all other reservations are now in Q4.
More details here:

great for all 6 people who got one before they ran out of parts
I kind of wish someone would revive the nomad and let us play genesis emu on the go
I'm sure making a FPGA version of the genesis SOC has to have way better battery life

nintendo just waiting for nvidia to make another critical blunder with the shield tablet so they can get a fat discount scraping the serial numbers off
I mean, nintendo can update the switch whenever they please
it's not like they're hurting for sales or losing money on them
who wouldn't want to make money off the hardware too
I'm still salty that the dreamcast doesn't have a re-release in the cards
uh... that's around kepler?
the initial switch release was literally nintendo picking up all of nvidia's recalled shield tablets at a discount lmao
since that release was plagued with self destruct failures due to shit thermal management
nintendo just dropped the clock to a manageable level and called it a day
which is why it's like, 640p on a good day
switch is like the most boring nintendo hardware to me
#bringbackthejack
idk I think it's very nintendo
i don't
it's been out years and up until 3 months ago they were still going for MSRP, and they still haven't made a zelda exclusive for it 😄
I realize some people count BOTW as zelda for the switch, but that was a wii u title 😄
i think the problem is nintendo just... kinda sucks...
don't worry, the zelda exclusive will come out after the switch 2 ships

hehe
if they catch up with steam deck orders
i wonder how well the steam deck will be selling next june
steam deck isn't worth 500 quid to me
so far valve has a great track record with selling hardware
first there was that creepy controller
then there was the tv streaming box
and then the valve index
@tame fulcrum buy me a steamdeck babe
google?
HAHHAHAHA
yea but when steam makes a product they keep selling it/supporting it for a long time
google just abruptly kills shit
steam deck isn't really expensive when you look at its competitors
the best thing you can hope for with a google product
is that they sell it before they get bored of it and kill it
like nik photo?
ugh
which google bought for some unfathomable reason and they haven't done anything with?
at least they didn't kill it like they did picasa
it irritates the shit out of me that they'd do that
"were just going to buy this thing and uh kill it lol "
apple likes doing that too though
i think siri was an android app, and there were several other android/ios apps where apple bnought the company and killed the android version
though apple also does the MS version
steals the idea and makes it part of their product
but then apple is evil because they'll ban the product from the app store for duplicating functionality
yeah it's not bad if it's something you'll use a lot
That's the thing, doubt I would
yeah same, that's why Ice is buying me one
you could edit spreadsheets on the toilet!
"try"
more like "silently do and pretend they don't"
he doesn't know duckduckgo uses microsoft's software
I knew a guy who worked on the search algorithm
a pittance for icehunter
$80,000 is approx how much ice has spent on his pc so far

well a rolex will appreciate while a tv won't
cringe
A regular watch will still far outlast your phone if ever needed
The only watch I would get at this point is one of those GPS ones for hiking bc its a lot more convenient to glance at the watch bc its handsfree
uwu
Yeah, i want one too 🙏
Not citizen 🤢
shitizen
What do you mean?
Pfft they last a long time atleast
I assume you would have to get them a smartwatch with LTE and enable Google latitude on it. Battery life would theoretically last the day
Apple Tag them
The watch is probably ideal if you can trust them to keep wearing it and not fidget and take it off
The transponders have to be left in their bag or maybe sewn into a pocket on their outfits
Are you having her walk to school or something?
Well maybe the transponder is best then and just put it on them for field trips. At a certain age though I feel like that sort of thing is a violation of trust unless they know about it and are okay with it
I'm reluctant to track my kids tbh
I can do android find my phone in an emergency on my daughter's but eh
As I said, I think when they're very young its one thing, but by the time they're in the upper elementary grades it's a bit much
That's just the thing: The news pummels you, but the number of cases is actually way down
that's the thing Ice, I don't want to project MY anxiety onto them, I want to equip them with confidence and common sense
I understand the conflict between the logical and emotional sides tho
Import one of those Japanese child alarm buttons for her
oh still easy mode lol
my daughter is 14 this year
trust me, 5 is cake compared to the anxiety of sending them out and about with other teenagers
nah, you gotta just keep them trusting you enough that they'll talk
just wait until you've had the 'joy' of dealing with her having to slap a boy because he grabbed her breast on international women's day, of all days
that's parental anxiety lol
Lol imagine trusting your parents
Could not be me
I'm in the the camp of all parents are shit 👼
you can't do that when he's a ND kid and she doesn't want you to get involved
neurodivergent
you also need to teach your kids that ultraviolence is reserved for certain kinds of offenses
not every situation justifies taking out lucille
like yeah I could have gone and caused a fuss, slapped the kid myself
or I let her handle it and know I had her back, so she feels confident enough to handle whatever comes next if I'm not around
shush you love me
Shue why can't you be my parent
Ehh there are woodchips and kids bounce, its fine
When I went to elementary school we still had a 2-story metal slide and a firemans pole
So it was a good 7-8ft off the ground
Naughty Dog
We'd still just jump off the platform for the firemans pole without using it half the time
we never had cool dangerous stuff at my elementary school 😔
There was another structure that was about that high at the top with a central pillar with old tires bolted vertically at 90 degree angles you had to jump up or down otherwise open ground below it. There were wooden step platforms around the sides you could jump off the tires onto tho
We had those centrifugal spiny things
Not the merry go round
But the solo ones
We would try to spin people as fast as possible until their noses bled
It was kinda fucked
They have a couple of those at a local playground I found, was actually surprised
Those things are so fucked
If you put a dirt bike on it's side
And the drive wheel on it
Holy shit you can really
REALLY yeet simeone
There is one you just sit on and rotate, then there is this one where you have to rotate the top while spinning your hips as well, it's pretty fun
This is actually an older picture bc they added a whole new playground structure in that empty space in this pic
So both the top and bottom are rotating and since you have more stability you can really get spinning fast
Probably a twisted ankle waiting to happen but its fun
:3
looks awful and you should feel awful for buying it
Can you get the case without the tacky green tube on the front and the character logo on top? Bc otherwise it looks really nice
i cannot :/
its just a unique one they just dropped.
thanks for the intel icehunter ill pass it along
My friend has a 3d printer, I should just figure out the dimensions and get him to make a custom shroud for me heh
wow i bet that's already sold out lol
not out yet, asked for 50
Hey dont drag me into this
My laptop has been KINDA ok
Screen turned black only once
Again, my asus z690 with 2x nvme doesn't do this
Lmao this company is such trash
🔪
Preamble:
The use of translucency – especially in plastics – as a design choice, has a long history. Despite some uses earlier in time, the first substantial experimentation with colourful translucency came in the late 1990s, mostly in Japan (it seems). Then, after Apple experimented with some...
Sorry mistell.
he
this all makes sense now
the only reliable SSD is the one getting PCIE lanes from the CPU
This looks very nice. I am jealous.
i was talking about ice, afaik he never had issues with the m.2 in the first slot 🙂 but you have spent a lot of time helping him so I don't think we need to revisit this 😄 you did awesome 😄
love how the most helpful nerd here has Ponta as their avatar 😄
yea I remember
I still need to get rid of auto on mine 😄
but my rig is almost 4 years old and hasn't had stability issues so
dayum
How
(I mean I did have stability issues but replacing my evga 750g3 with a corsair rm1000x fixed them)
the fun kinda failure
that's the "I bought my case from a seller on ebay and it came with a free brand x power supply!" failure
isn't your house new-ish?
ahh
ok I understand now
the ACs don't have their own circuits?
o_O
i thought you had a fancy house
Is this where I can come to ask for advice on putting a PC together with PC Parts Picker
RTX 3090
Where in God's name did you get the money to afford that
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m3vgFg
This is my first time actually building a PC and not just buying a cheap pre-built or a laptop
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR, Lian Li LANCOOL 215 ATX Mid Tower
The first two comments for the motherboard are issues about it
What's the performance difference roughly between 3060Ti and 3070/3070Ti?
Also isn't that Noctua just a giant fan
dual tower heatsink with 2 140mm fans? something like that
gotta point out though: that's the noctua NH-D15. They have other coolers that are different configurations.
check on the noctua website
It doesn't even fit the damn socket type
yes it does
you just have to either make sure you buy from a seller who have latest stock, OR you contact noctua and they'll send you a bracket np
probably a good time to invest in intel assuming they get their shit together real soon
i doubt it, there was rumors they cancelling their gpu division
probably cant compete, plus they stopped building 3d xpoint this week. they also having to oursource their chip production
i don't doubt it but i think it'll take a while since they're doing a lot at once right now
short term MBA gutted it real good for short term gains and bonuses. i got a lot of faith in pat gelsinger but they basically ripped that companies guts out for a yacht
YOU'RE LITERALLY LINKING THE BIGGEST IDIOT ON THE PLANET!?
wait what?
it was just what popped up 😔 not a specific source
Oh
How does it perform in terms of cooling though
Cause I'm planning to play me some Cold War Zombies with my dad
Oh
it's rated for like 200ish watts, so it's pretty dang beefy cooling wise
It's also half the price of what I chose damn
This but a 3060 Ti instead of a 3070 Ti
Because 3070 Ti is expensive
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR, Lian Li LANCOOL 215 ATX Mid Tower
😔 this doesn't explain anything
i literally have 0 clue what he's talking about 😔
not really a release when it's only in like two places
plus they've been delaying it forever now so them cancelling it wouldn't be surprising
the igpus were shit anyways
yes but they're on an architecture they're moving away from completely
and the driver support was trash anyways
it was only in like china or something
it's not a full release
and it's been a while since they released it there and still haven't made it global
Oofus
Just pour an ice cold bath and sit in that all day instead of running the A/C taps forehead
news to me contradicts other videos i saw
dman thats sad
intel is also kind of missing the entire AI boat as well which is def th e future
without graphics cards to do linear algebra
GG intel honestly
i bet gov will keep them alive though
What would be the AMD equivalent more or less to the i7-12700K and 3060 Ti?
5800x3d and 6700xt
Buying an AMD GPU...
there is nothing wrong with it 😒
the hardware no, the drivers yes =X
the drivers literally aren't that bad anymore
unless they're going navi first gen
navi first gen was a shitshow, second gen is just fine smh
Also I wouldn't say the 5800x3d is 12700k, that would be more like comparing to the 12900k
!unmute 1001176480891543572
yea
considering the price it's close since you can get it on sale pretty regularly
When did you even get muted
i mean 12900k is a whole different price tier
F
It's interesting, the 3D vcache makes the 5800 do well in games, but it kills it in general performance. So if you onl ycare about gaming go for it
But if you want good performance outside of games, maybe go with a non vcache
so the trick here
amd cpu, amd gpu 😄
best combo!
in a laptop!
i admit, the 5700xt was fun to play with
the 3080ti has felt the same, except it gives better fps 😉
but it consumes a stupid amount of power and produces a stupid amount of heat so, good nuff
So apparently Amazon doesn't have the case I chose so can anyone recommend a case for a similar price
I said Amazon for a reason
Also how does Radeon RX 6700XT compare to GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
I can get it for a little cheaper than the 3060 Ti
If it's comparable
they're about the same the only benefit an nvidia card has is dlss if a game supports it
I have no idea what that is
an upscaling feature of the card that increases performance at a minimal loss of visual quality
Sounds like something I don't really need
Do Radeon GPUs throw a fit when paired with Intel CPUs or not really
i mean it helps if a game is really rough to run/raytraced but other than that not everything uses it so it's a matter of what you play
The only game I'd be raytracing if I ever buy it would be Minecraft
i have 0 clue how that performs on amd or nvidia gpus aside from 20 series lol
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X how would this compare to the i7-12700K
It's like $40 less than the i7
it's slower but still a solid cpu
How much slower
Ooooooh banana
You can use addons to force MSAA and probably other less taxing methods
Nothing gives you a migraine harder than the trees shimmering
depends on the title but i want to say worst case is like 12%ish
What’s up
dying 🙏
FXAA is the most useless shit ever thanks nvidia for inventing it
I mean it’s true

just adding to the collection 🙏 either way back to afk i go
Laying in bed thinking about video games wyd
naked?
No
oh wait she isn't naked

I have no idea what that is
FXAA was invented as a “high performance anti aliasing technology” but all it does is blur the whole image
It’s a lazy method lol
fools that like fxaa rae blind change my mind
I blame AMD
For my failed marriage
And everything else
She told me she loved ford
I signed the papers the same day
If a board says it supports DDR5 is DDR4 incompatible with it?
i'm not loyal to any particular brand
I... just happen to keep buying chrysler/jeep stuff.....
I heard there might be a next gen chrysler 300 sooooo
Oh
Amazon now has everything except my PSU
FML
So uhh
How good is the shipping from Newegg?
most of it ships from CA but it aint free usually
It’s pretty decent, i use them over amazon since they’re usually cheaper
they charged me $8 fuckin dollars for a $300 PSU! what a rip off
Especially since honey coupons work more often
since i'm also in ca
sometimes newegg does next day delivery
in which case they use their own delivery service lol

that's cheap if it came from germany
yea with newegg I have a good shot of getting overnight for the price of cheap
but isn't all your stuff corsair?!
but amazon usually uses their SB distro centers for me so i get it in a day or two
i'd cry if I added up my shipping costs from stuff I buy from japan
i feel like
if you look at something enough on amazon
they pre-emptively ship it to a local facility lmao
ok idk if they actually do that, but it'd be cool if their logistics were that slick
I'm in Hawaii so if they're in CA it shouldn't be too bad
Sounds pretty normal for UPS/Fedex ground shipping. Especially for a $300 PSU bc I guarantee you that shit comes in a chonker box bigger than a GPU
Remember that free shipping from Amazon isn't free anyways, they just bake it into their prices
And also make their employees piss in bottles or get fired
So if you wonder why they have the margins to offer that... there you go
cant beefleaf you'd expose amazon like this
those are zen bottles™️ specially developed to replace bathrooms, 9 in 10 managers agree it is superior!
if i had to pee in a bottle because work
i'm gonna leave the bottle on my boss' desk
along with a letter telling them what they can do with that bottle
IS THAT A FUCKING YOGSCAST GIF?!
oh god they look so old

is that a ponta I see
and the (cpu) internal pcie clock generator 😐
I guess the huge bezel makes it more comfortable to draw around the edges
also, keyboard drawer desks tend to have such a small drawer that you have to use the mouse that way
actually yea
idk about regular screens but I've had that happen with my ultrawides
it's almost always a cable issue
and not a "your cable is broken" issue but something more along the lines of 'try turning the computer and the monitor off and turning them both back on"
which almost always fixes it
but like
my work mac laptop sleeps the screen after 3 mins of inactivity
so my screen would go to sleep like 20 times a day hahaha
so I get a lot of chances for things to go wrong and get sync'd in a fucked up way where half my screen starts spazzing and doesn't stop until I power cycle it
adding the kvm actually kinda fixed the problem!
since I bought a cable matters KVM and they make a lot of certified cables
is that just a drawing tablet they're using as a monitor
and the cables that came with it are nice high quality certified cables
so it seemed to make the dock that I plug my laptop into very happy
instead of the off-brand 15ft cable I use from my desk to the kvm hahaha
ye honk, for sure
yea those fancy cables
geez the ones that came with my kvm aren't that fancy
try turning your screen off and back on
sigh
cable management xD
note the kvm just hanging back there lmao
i had it on top of the mac mini
but the weight of the cables pulled it off
does the lone engineer piss in the potted plant instead of taking bathroom breaks?
lol
good ole ASUS
i'm kinda enjoying that pic. fun to see my setup from a different angle
had to take it with my arms stretched up/out all the way xD
goo night
i see das problem
this object needs to be removed then everything will be fine
lol
I'm actually adding another mac
i have no idea yet where i'm going to put it
personal and work?
you know one of the weirdest things I saw was a remote admin job for mostly windows and then
"choice of mac or windows laptop"

Ya know, I wish I saw that on job ads more often
I really do
TOSS A LINUX OPTION IN TOO YOU COWARDS!
look at all that dust
damn giving out feet pics for free
i sit now
idk what I can even do with so many exams, I guess I can also do the architect cert
keeping current—five additional certifications
nevermind wtf
idk why they still have this requirement because a lot of the openshift or ansible creds got baked into the RHCSA or RHCE tracks now
Get ya company to pay it
damn
i paid about that much for my 3080ti
now you can get a case and a psu with that too
and that case is really nice
tru
my contractor will only reimburse so they can get fucked
thankfully i inherit big navy stuff so I get all RHEL training free and all RHEL certs free as long as they have the contract
the engineer path seems kinda easy now since it's .. i think 100% ansible based?
y
they legit just took the "automation specialist" cert and made it the RHCE cert
I mean I can write python (a little) still I just can't do math i'm too dumb
pandas
use pandas
the timing of your response and my falling asleep at the idea of messing with ansible were impeccably timed
it definitely aint hard it does everything for you
kyanche
pls automation
dnf
"icehunter"
"latest"
next we'll be talking about salt stack
