watch your task manager's performance tab. Select your GPU and watch the memory as you generate. If it goes into shared memory, that'll be what's causing your slow down.

If it's all fitting onto the GPU, then it should be much less than that

if you got AMD , you'll need hacky code to make it work. Most of these apps are CUDA based for nvidia cards

I'd surge protector every single electronic i use. But i lived through the delicate days where even a static shock on the power button could fry a controller. A lot of modern homes have breaker boxes (fuses? what year is this?!) that come with surge protection built in, but i sure don't have one of those.

preferably, a UPS is best, but the one i had died. the battery did anyways. I live in the wooods where power can go out for a second if a branch hits a power line. I hate those flash off flash on power outages the most. Thats a big surge and nobody wants that.

modern PC's tend to be a lot more robust. I know a lot of people that run plugged in directly to the wall and are like "its fine" but i'm all 😮 about it. i guess power supply units in most cases have been hardened a lot and can regulate out a little surge now and then. Still, surge protectors are cheap.

You dont' need an expensive one with usb ports or nothing. The dollar barn near me has a bin full of surge protectors and i get a new one every year. $5 is good enough for one.

theres designer ones which are entirely pointless and are usually shittier than cheap ones. and then theres old reliable. the model which has never let down.

Well I was aware that there wasn't enough pins, but there are some connectors on motherboards that don't require all available pins on them to be used, so I was checking if that was the case with this. As many versions of the expansion cards are like that one, but they say they work with PCIe 1x which is what those slots are.

It should still work depending on card manufacturer. Its PCIe so it should be universal. Check reviews first to see if people have trouble with the expansion card youre thinking of getting, get drivers (all that fun stuff 🥲). Should work. 🤞👍

PSU needs to have enough power to power all 4 SATA drives (or more if > 4 SATA ports). Thats more likely a bigger constraint.

For open source i2v, I think ltxv is a good choice, it’s very fast and decent quality(obviously not as good as closed). It’s miles better than animatediff which is probably the motion model you were talking about.

when i first got started on my AMD system, i was using manjaro. an arch based distro. i then moved to garuda, another arch distro.

i find arch is the easiest to rewire when you need to. Ubuntu has a lot of custom quirks to it that set it apart from debian, and debian doesn't get rolling updates.

However, this graph provides scores rather than the specific inference speed in Images per Minute that many Stable Diffusion users are interested in.

I noticed that two of the cards in this performance graph are also present in another graph that shows actual inference speed in Images per Minute: 4060 and RX 7600.

By comparing those two points, I calculated that there is a direct 1:1 correlation between the score from the first graph and the inference speed, it can be estimated that B580 has an inference speed of 42.4 Images per Minute. This would place it on par with cards such as the 4070ti, 3080ti, and 3090. I verified my calculations using Gemini 2.0 Flash which confirmed my methodology to be correct.

The Intel B580 has 12GB of VRAM and uses its own version of CUDA which is optimized for inference, though not for model training.

I'm awaiting results from someone who will test the B580 to confirm these results. Interested in hearing if any community members have experience with this GPU in Stable Diffusion.

I have a feeling this has to do with leaning too heavily on VLM models to label the training data, you have to think and prompt like VLM now. However, given VLM labeling the models are far less likely to replicate a particular artists style or a celebrity's appearance, which are things that have generated a lot of negative attention for AI generated images.
The VLMs won't recognize or label a Greg Rutkowski painting as "by Greg Rutkowski" for instance, it might, at best, just say something like "fantasy art" and then it gets "mixed in" with all the other "fantasy art". Result however is sort of mish-mash. The larger models are more accurate to composition if you say "red ball on top of a green box" though, because the labels from VLMs are so accurate in those sorts of terms.

not 100% sure. been a long time since I used auto1111. When I did use it, as long as my LoRA's were in the correct location, I just applied them by doing lora:name_of_lora:1.0 (or 0.8 or 1.2 or whatever weight I wanted) in the prompt, and never really had an issue.

that's because the data training sets are captioned in english. put a 8 billion parameter data set together and caption it in arabic, train a model, and it'll quite happily understand what you're talking about - but it wont' have a clue what anything said in english means

doesn't' matter - 1. the AIs are trained in english 2. the AIs can't' even do good english text and letters 3. arabic script is much harder when they've never been trained in it. you'll get what might look like it but the AI has no idea what, far as it is concerned, it's just creating a decoration no different than a flower, bird, ribbon, or whatever. same thing it does with watermarks and signatures when you see them on images - it has no idea - it's seen that, far as it's concerned it's a decoration, and since it doesn't know what it is, how can it possibly even try to be accurate? all it's doing is imitating the swirls and squiggles it's seen on some of the images in its data training set. they mean something to you. they don't mean the same thing to the AI - they just wiggly lines to it

the only thing that knows what's really in those sets are the LLM that captioned them, and it doesn't care. it just looks at the image and writes a caption based on the content - like - red shoes, house, tree, a pair of red shoes laying on the ground near a house and a tree.

if anything, the bias is probably heavily leaning toward photos from websites for commercial products

Ansel's not in many games, but it's really neat. It lets you have a free camera, so you can move around and take pictures how you want. Has a bunch of eaasy filters to put in too, like depth of field, contrast and saturation adjustments, etc. It's in Conan Exiles, which is where I spend most of my time.

I don't have photoshop I used to play around with GIMP (Free photoshop, fun name). But when I got the 3070, I started to rely on Ansel for all the visual effects. It was just so simple! I'll probably go back to doing that again though.

This is one of my favorite characters. A Halfling gal. (Conan Exiles has some really good mod support, which lets you do all kinds of crazy things. I'm actually playing with more character customization right now, since it's one of my fav things to do.)
It's kinda the closest thing out there to "Modded Skyrim with friends online" imo. Which... Really it's not very similar at all.. But Skyrim and Conan Exiles both have some of the best customization ever, thanks to a strong modding community for both!

I suppose you can't really tell she's a Halfling (sort of. I did some fun customization on her eyes, and hand-wave it as "she has some Fae ancestry")

I don't like using websites for stuff like editing. Maybe I'm weird, I like having a program for it! I should probably just get better at GIMP.

It's kinda hard to see in the screenshot, with no context, but my char has very Halfling-esque proportions, and a more 'fantasy' look about her, than most. I don't have any good safe screenshots off-hand to give an example though.

But yeah, Conan has a pretty good modding community, and a relatively large RP community as well. Different servers have different rules and settings (D&D-like settings being the most common these days.), or you can always host your own server with friends.

There are mods for some pretty insane character customization though! Including, but not limited to, demons.

Forge, I can work with! It's simple and easy to understand. I know there are extensions you can get, to make things more complicated and all that. I might end up doing some of that eventuallllly....

Right now, I mostly just wanna be able to do some edits to my Conan screenshots. Maybe even get AI to animate some of them! I've put a screenshot through a realistic looking model before, and it.. Sometimes works well! For the human characters, it works pretty good. Gives you an example of what the video game character would look like, realistically. But for a character like a Tiefling, Draenei, or more bizarre things? At least the model I was using, got completely lost and didn't know what to do with horns and fantasy colored eyes.

"Destiny" is my latest Suno signature song, which was experimental and unfinished until now, where I covered it with Riffusion, which gave it a big boost and it is the first attempt to create a therapeutic piece. It tells the story of a person on a journey to harmony after a long struggle to understand life logically, despite the lies others tell him to prevent him from believing in the One God. The song serves as a reminder of His signs, confirming that his destiny is to believe despite the trials, and urges him to reflect on these signs and break free from earthly limitations.
While the concept of white metalcore is not entirely new - I've seen idealistic metalcore bands like MoonSun, metalcore is typically darker, and sometimes even nihilistic. One of our two senior developers has been forcibly detained and conscripted to participate in a war. When they first went missing, we revoked their repository access as a precaution. We've used our available connections to try to keep them safe. There's no way to get them out of the conscription. However, they're an incredibly talented security researcher and engineer and it would be extraordinarily misguided to send them to front line combat. This seems to be understood now.

GrapheneOS development and updates have continued and will keep going. We have substantial funds available to hire more people to work on GrapheneOS. We'll need to hire multiple experienced developers to fill their big shoes. They'll hopefully be safe and when they return we'll have a bigger team.

hey everyone, i’ve been building emergentic.ai - a platform for multi-agent simulation and authoring. In the 1-minute teaser linked here, I show how you can use AI agents to program strudel (live coding / tidal cycles / supercollider) by writing code via MCP actions.
The idea: instead of the generic helpful assistant, agents are given personas, can collaborate, and can also orchestrate via external apps (Unreal, Blender, Ableton, Notion, etc.) to create emergent creative workflows.
This is just one example showing how agents could co-pilot while you write music live, but imagining the same approach could extend to narrative design, NPCs, and real-time collaborative / generative media / worlds.

i’m very curious what people think… would you want to use this? how would you envision using it? is this furthering ai slop or a new creative tool for musical expression? how do the musicians here in particular feel about this? ty for any feedback!
