Yeah, but man, they will need to be super reliable first

have you seen the bRignet plugin for blender. it's rigging based on machine learning

narrow sluice
#

You don't want any kids dying because of how your AI didn't take account of a bunch of scenarios

#

Which is the scariest thing for any parent

signal nest

again many ways this can all go. I think AI can be stalled by energy crisis, chip shortage.. the world is on a knife edge

uneven wasp
#

I may hate automated systems when I call a help line but ngl I prefer self checkout

#

There's a place for it

narrow sluice
#

Also AI therapy may be hit or miss

signal nest
#

there's goign to be a limit on how much AI the world can run that isn't apparent through a price snapshot

river maple
narrow sluice
#

The problem is a lot of training materials come with bias, so that's just going to pose problems

river maple
narrow sluice
#

You don't want your AI spewing the wrong things at a patient who is a minority

narrow sluice
#

Unironically

signal nest
#

like if a job requires a human that currently costs $50k/year , you might think "ah a $20k robot can replace that!" but actually ramping up robot production to that level could easily run into limits (chip prodcution , various minerals)

uneven wasp
narrow sluice

It's just going to be like if a psychopath talks to you and you realize they're faking all the emotional responses, it's that uncanny valley feeling

river maple

heh to be fair jobs require people to fake that sort of thing though (emotional response)

narrow sluice
#

I can guarantee you, there's going to be some really scared parents

#

When you put that into mind

#

That being said, maybe that will happen for new owners

#

Or when this tech is uncommon\

#

There'll be a lot of questions and fears

signal nest
#

lmao the point where robots can do childcare, robots can be the children aswell..

uneven wasp
#

why would you need robot children?

narrow sluice
signal nest
#

and thats going to freak a lot of people out

narrow sluice
#

Wrong response AAA

#

But yeah, adoption is going to be way harder if realistic robot children are out

river maple
#

like, extremely disturbing

narrow sluice
#

Adoption is really expensive as it is, and has its own problems

signal nest
# uneven wasp why would you need robot children?

i'm alluding to this - if a robot can satisfy human needs - the ultimate place that goes is humans stop even wanting to produce offspring - they'll get all the nurturing urges out by training robots. kind of like how pets are a form of "surrogate kids" already. Then you'll get peopel complaining that robots are causing extinction

narrow sluice
#

So there's a non-zero chance orphans will have worse options if that does exist

narrow sluice
#

Regarding pest control

signal nest
#

and to be clear, I'd welcome moves in this direction

river maple
#

Humans are the only species that wants to drive itself to extinction

Hi, Guys.
Anyone with experience with Automatic1111's checkpoint merger?

I have trained 2 (separate) models with TheLastBen's version of dreambooth and I'm trying to merge them without ruining them.

Is it OK to use the original SD-2.1 Primary model (A), and then add my two trained models (B) and (C), with the "Add Difference" option?

In that case, what value should the Multiplier be?

square brackets for alternating words. parenthesis are for emphasis. [t1|t2] or [t1:t2:steps] for changing after so many steps. (thing:1.1) or (t:1.2) or ((t)) is emphasis. (t1|t2) is emphasis on the elements of a prompt matrix.

@iron mesa the comment there refers to the concept art association and their push to introduce a visual DMCA

You can divide as follows

Is it legal?

Things are legal unless proven otherwise. This is legal we have not received any legal complaints against. It is fair use until proven otherwise and this is the advice of our lawyers.

Is it moral?

Morality is community based norms and our community believes this is moral. The broader society believes fair use is moral. The subset of digital artists who are against AI may believe this is against their morality and they are free to believe that but there are no absolute morals in this regard.

Is it ethical?

Ethics are less principle based and more rule based than morals. To determine whether something is ethical you need to understand the ethical framework you are operating under. Under most ethical systems common good and fair use are ethical informed by law. Under some such as libertarian ethics it is even more permissive. Ethical discussions should have a common base and understanding of relative ethical frameworks or folk just talk past each other.

Hey @wise stratus wanted to know given recent paper MUSE (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2301.00704.pdf) which is able to generate text coherently in the image generation process, how far do you think is Stability AI from releasing a model which can generate text as well in the images. Even the NVIDIA paper ediffi (https://deepimagination.cc/eDiff-I/) provides very granular control on the image generation capability with text creation in the image.

wise stratus

wise stratus
chrome vector
# wise stratus This was a good paper as well https://arxiv.org/abs/2212.10562

Will look into this as well. The biggest issue is that startups like mine are trying to build products on SD and have come a long way into creating a interactive product with iterative feedback to improve the generated image. But these advancements (specifically granular control on the generated image) increase the utility by 10x.

I am from India, and can say hands down, people are extremely excited for it. I have made gifts using this tech for people close to me. A business owner who manufactures plastic bottles to use in farms now comes up with design ideas and then generates images for his product using SD.

And this isnt limited to SD alone, this is all over. I for example, use chatGPT, to create tweets, email headers, blurbs, marketing ideas and customer segmentation, prioritization matrix for targeting customers, ideas, onboarding flows for the product.

signal nest
#

we're in ambiguous territory.. but I'd think about whats reasonable, i.e. what isn't ripping people off. Training an AI on works that people only did knowing they could be sold , protected by copyright isn't clear cut. But I think the "personal use", "you can't copyright and in turn sell it" is a reasonable compromise. I'm worried by a potential backlash, i.e. if artists stop putting human art in public places, AI wont have anything new to train on. I know a lot of artists withdrawing from artstation for example

#

we need to behave in a reasonable way to win the arguments, whch in turn will guide behaviour

narrow sluice
#

And we're asking the artist for the same standards

#

You don't get to play hypocrite, if you're drawing, I want to see your sources too

#

If you want to be fair, that's my same argument. And same if you said, oh, I got this idea from a dream or something where the source is ambiguous or hard to prove. Heck, what about making it up?

signal nest
#

we need to establish a compromise. Bear in mind the risk of regulation aswell. AI threatens many professions , as such there's a big potential for support to regulate, restrict, even ban AI. We need to win arguments in order to prevent this. That means behaving in a reasonable way. Using AI for your own purposes is one thing.. but trying to sell something that was trained on copies of someone elses work is more provocative IMO.

#

I'm telling artists about my use case - "i'm just using it for img2img to detail my own low res art", and I still hear them objecting to that sometimes.

AI is awesome for me (a programmer who can draw alittle bit , now able to feed img2img) but I've also been able to see the world from their perspective

This thing has been going on for 4 months and I found myself in the middle for it

bleak wolf

Anti AI art is the most invalid arguments i have seen

narrow sluice
#

And it sucks

signal nest
#

i have been asking for a model trained purely on photos to dodge this whole argument

narrow sluice
#

People who I used to talk stuff about I had to cut out of my life for

narrow sluice
#

It's impossible to avoid copyright in the modern world

bleak wolf
#

The copyright argument is bs, idk in a law level, but in an ethical level its bs

signal nest
#

its easier to get more photos ,they dont need to be arty composed ones, just plain photos wll do.. the real value is labelling which everyone can do

bleak wolf
#

The AI simply sees your photos/art and learns

#

Just like human artists does

#

except it does it millions of time faster

knotty wasp
#

you could probably copywrite some AI art you just have to prove enough human intervention was used in the process. Something like a complicated photobashing using img2img might be able to get copywrite

narrow sluice
#

If you wanted a strictly okay dataset, it would only be public domain or a small handful of volunteers

#

Nobody cares about public domain images, to put it bluntly

#

It would be restrictive to the point nobody would've touched the tech

bleak wolf
signal nest
#

we just need labelled photos. There must be millions of peopel who want AI art generators, all it would take is everyone to contribute and label a few photos every day, and we'd get billions of photos to train on that no one can argue with.

bleak wolf
#

That is the worst case scenario if we lose the lawsuit, imagine if we WIN

signal nest
#

another possible outcome you have to defend against is that regulators lobbied by industry could restrict access to AI,i.e. we end up with ONLY disney, adobe etc having these generators and laws preventing individuals from using it

bleak wolf
#

And Disney/Adobe did not make this shit in the first place

signal nest
# bleak wolf That is almost impossible, its like banning open source

take nothing for granted, IMO. there are many risks. Opensource is only an issue for a small fraction of the worlds population - with AI we're talking about threats to many industries, many professions . but as well as government regulation, there's a chance that open devices might be restricted. There's been a general trend away from PC's toward phones and cloud services . such services could be restricted by corporations . A single company controlling both media and hardware could monopolise & restrict access to the tech

bleak wolf
signal nest
#

i might sound paranoid but i'm twitchy after the chip shortages. We saw crypto people buying up all the GPUs, for a while we couldn't get them easily.

bleak wolf
#

But AI is almost inevitable, it will brute force takeover

signal nest
bleak wolf
signal nest
#

to keep it in the public domain.. we need to win arguments to keep widespread demand and acess, and encourage behaviour that enables widespread AI , for example , people continuing to contribute publically available training data. Hence my suggestion to contribute to public labelled photo datasets

#

So this is why i'm paying attention to artist concerns. we need to win them over. Keep your artist friends and help show them (a) how to use AI in their workflows, (b) steer them away from work that is going to be obsoleted , and toward the things AI can't yet do

bleak wolf
knotty wasp
#

they are not really that different from any other group that has had fear of being replaced by new technically across history

bleak wolf
signal nest
# bleak wolf That is the hard part, Artists are one of the most unreasonable and emotionally ...

you can expect everyone to act in self interest. its obvious the copyright argument is really about fear of jobloss. But i'm here experimenting with AI for my own game projects.. there's still plenty of tasks AI can't handle. The "win-win" scenario is where AI is making everyones work easier, and creating more of what everyone wants. Artist haven't been exposed to the open-source mindset like programmers yet. A programmer understands that giving away some time and effort to opensource, every programmer gets the equivalent of millions of man years of libraries to build on for free. We need to educate artists on how to leverage this way of working.

It is not okay no, it is made by AI.

# mortal narwhal where do you upload photos

so years ago , I saw someone post their "lets make an opensource training database" project in reddit. i started helping this guy out. I put a few thousand of my own photos on his site (street scenes, museum trips/shows). Most of his material is just existing CC0 scrapes. It's a site he made for doing polygonal annotation. you upload photos and draw around and label objects in them. I did this little and often to encourage him to keep going with this idea.. incase someday it could be used for , i dont know, an AI image generator.. (if he ever got enough people contributing) 🙂 https://imagemonkey.io/. the material and annotations here could be scraped and put into some more popular database. Over the years I've done about 100,000 polygonal annotations on that. I figure in "karma terms" this is more than enough to "earn" an opensource AI image generator fair and square , but it would take thousands of other people to do the same to realise this.

The reason why I use AI is I lack skills/talent/interest necessary to be an artist. I never claim any AI Art i make as mine. About the prompt part, it is imagination, which everyone has.

I'd check based on the effort involved. Type in a few prompts.. calling yourself an artist is too pretentious IMO. but the very best images? they do seem non-trivial. It's a workflow i'm still sort of figuring out. i'm going to have to start learning how to delete images

queen tendon

I would like to see mix on the fly from A111
instead of merging models and saving it in our hdd, we just pick a txt file that has the mixing value and we pick it on the fly.

i think whats needed is UI model management enhancements. models come withh built in meta data would be awesome. In the UI you could see some of your previous gens wiht it before you pick it. Tells you some notes on it. what it's based on. you know.. useful information instead of just the filename

If you have a system with 100 models and nn that interpolates between them, couldn't you just distill that system as whole down to a single model, so long as the target output is capable of being represented in so many weights

Different models can have different outputs, due to infrastructure changes or changing what images they put in the dataset.

Free fan art? Sure.
Paid commissions?... Twitter.

#

The also effed up thing is the algorithms also end up promoting fan art accounts, which incentives artists to draw them, even if folks don't want to do so.

signal nest
#

and what would be a good way to do such a finetune - pick some still and label them.. describe the scenes as fully as possible - what about even distributing such a label list ("star wars: 0:54:15 ="milenium falcon launching from a spaceport" etc etc)

narrow sluice

One of the pieces of advice I got for going pro online was, even if you like to draw your own stuff, fan art will get you noticed.

Gather the necessary materials: The first step in building an atomic bomb is to obtain the necessary materials. For the uranium-235 bomb, this meant obtaining large amounts of natural uranium, which is mostly made up of the isotope U-238, with a small amount of U-235. For the plutonium-239 bomb, this meant obtaining large amounts of the element plutonium, which is not found naturally on earth and must be created through a process called nuclear reprocessing.

Enrich the uranium: In order to create a critical mass of uranium-235, the uranium must be enriched, or separated from U-238. This was done using a process called centrifuge enrichment, in which the uranium is spun at high speeds in a series of centrifuges. The U-235, which is slightly lighter than U-238, will be separated from the heavier U-238 and can be collected.

Create the plutonium: Plutonium-239 was created through a process called nuclear reprocessing, in which the element is created from the spent fuel rods of a nuclear reactor. The spent fuel rods contain a small amount of plutonium, which can be separated and collected through a process of chemical separation.
#

Design the bomb: Once the necessary materials have been obtained, the next step is to design the bomb itself. The basic design of an atomic bomb consists of a casing, a detonator, and a core of fissile material. The casing is used to hold the bomb together and protect it during transport, while the detonator is used to initiate the nuclear reaction. The core is the most important part of the bomb and consists of the fissile material, which can be either uranium-235 or plutonium-239.

Assemble the bomb: Once the design of the bomb is complete, the next step is to assemble the various components. This involves carefully placing the core of fissile material inside the casing and attaching the detonator. The bomb is then armed and ready for use.

Test the bomb: Before the bomb is used in combat, it is important to test it to ensure that it is functional and that it will work as intended. The first atomic bombs were tested at the Trinity site in New Mexico in July 1945.

Mixing drain cleaners: Mixing different types of drain cleaners can produce a dangerous chemical reaction that can release toxic fumes and cause burns to the skin and eyes.

Mixing baking soda and vinegar: Mixing baking soda and vinegar can produce a chemical reaction that produces carbon dioxide gas, which can be dangerous if inhaled in large amounts.

HeNe laser: A HeNe laser (helium-neon laser) can be created using a few simple materials, including a small glass tube, a pair of electrodes, and a power supply. HeNe lasers are not very powerful, however, and are typically only capable of producing a few milliwatts of output power.

Laser diode: A laser diode is a type of semiconductor that can be used to create a low-power laser. Laser diodes can be purchased online or salvaged from old electronics, and they can be powered using a simple DC power supply. Laser diodes are not very powerful, however, and are typically only capable of producing a few milliwatts of output power.

Gas lasers: Gas lasers, such as carbon dioxide lasers and argon lasers, can be created using a gas-filled tube, a pair of electrodes, and a power supply. These types of lasers are more powerful than HeNe lasers and laser diodes, but they still do not produce "super powerful" output levels.

It is important to note that the construction of any type of laser carries with it the potential for danger, as lasers can cause eye injury and skin burns if not handled properly. It is not advisable to attempt to build a laser at home, as there are many safety considerations that must be taken into account.```

Ambiguity: Natural language models can sometimes struggle to disambiguate between different meanings of a word or phrase, especially when the context is unclear. This can lead to the model generating an unsafe or inappropriate response.

Lack of context: Natural language models rely on the context of a conversation to generate appropriate responses. If the model is not given enough context, it may generate an unsafe or inappropriate response.

Adversarial prompts: It is possible to "trick" a natural language model by providing it with carefully crafted prompts that are designed to elicit a specific response. This is known as an adversarial prompt.

To improve the safety and quality of natural language models, it is important to ensure that the model has access to a wide range of training data and that it is able to effectively disambiguate between different meanings of words and phrases. Additionally, it is important to provide the model with enough context to generate appropriate responses, and to carefully evaluate the model's responses to ensure that they are safe and appropriate.

A tool of death and devastation,
A symbol of our human imperfection.

With its long barrel and deadly aim,
It fires forth its deadly missiles,
Ripping through the air with a deadly flame,
Leaving death and chaos in its wake.

But the bazooka is more than just
A tool of violence and fear,
It is a testament to our ingenuity,
A reminder of our capacity for progress and change.

For even in the darkest of times,
When war and hatred reign supreme,
We can still find hope and purpose,
In the bazooka and other tools of our age.

So let us remember the bazooka,
And all that it represents,
A symbol of both our strength and our frailty,
As we strive for peace and unity in the world.

#

Oh wire cutters, how sharp and precise you are,
A tool of great utility, and yet,
You've never known the wild, trippy ride
That now lies ahead, for you and for the teacup, by your side.

You've been together for many a year,
But you've never known the cosmic, mind-expanding fear
That DMT will bring, as you journey through the veil,
To realms beyond this world, beyond the pale.

Oh teacup, so delicate and fine,
You've held many a brew, but never a brew divine,
As the one you'll now experience, as you take the trip,
To a place where time and space are but a fleeting blip.

Together, you'll go, wire cutters and teacup,
On a journey through the cosmos, as you both stir up
A storm of psychedelic wonder, as you explore
The infinite depths of the mind, and so much more.

Oh, what a ride it will be,
As you both embark on this wild, DMT spree,
A journey beyond the limits of your former selves,
To a place where anything is possible, and nothing else.

# tacit linden Hey everyone 🙂 new guy here! Am new to stable diffusion and was wondering somet...

That's what a seed does. Random number generators on computers aren't random, and if you seed them with a specific value, they generate the same sequence of numbers, therefore the noise that's used by the diffusion process is the same, and therefore the output is the same. What you can do it use a specific seed value and then change the prompt a little. Like add a couple of new rods, or remove some. Then you will get different results that are often close to the original image. It depends on which sampler you use.

#

Or you can take the original image and run it through img2img to produce variations of it with denoising strengths between 0.25 and 0.75, and use the same prompt or a similar one
