#Why can we mix and match armor?

-1 Have you forgotten about masks? What about Thawtide attire with two helmets? There could always be a case for "I don't like his this [part] looks so I'm gonna switch to a slightly inferior one in terms of stats but more aesthethically pleasing". That aside, how would incomplete sets work in your vision?
-1 splitting armor up into one stat determining set and also 3 individually changeable cosmetics seems needlessly complicated
Transmogs at verminia, unlocked automatically as quest rewards
Literally just what we have but with one slot, i dont see how complicated that would be
Was not my point. I was implying specifically equipping sets with missing pieces whether they are not yet acquired or plain nonexisting in the game.
Also the only way to get resource for transmog is to pay which, depending on the country/financial state, may not be an option accessible to people.
What we have now but with one slot expect actually it’s kind of three slots still for customization. Which just feels unnecessary to me
Just because three pieces of armor are meant to be used together doesn’t mean they need to be. And I think at the moment if you want the highest possible defense for a certain type you actually have to mix and match sets. Also there’s just the fact this is a collection game. More individual pieces means more to collect and more things to aim for. And also also it means new players can get more incremental upgrades one piece at a time. Idk I just personally don’t see a reason to remove any of this
Second part is a valid concern though eventually we'll have trading which can be used to buy transmog material
That is fair. However. There are people who are unwilling/unable to interact with transmog mechanics for one reason or another. In current system one could replace Mendicant helmet with Steelsinger circlet on R/G hybrid and be well. The system you're proposing forces everyone into payed territory. Doesn't sit right with me. We're gonna get more armor options later down the line for all virtues and forcing sets like so is both lazy and counterproductive imo. An exception could be made for tasty set bonuses imo but that's another matter.
Sorry, the main concern i'm raising is that there is no point to there being 3 armor slots if there's no reason to use anything besides the best in slot. It just becomes a game of looking through the options until you find the best one, which ends up being 3 piece of a set
This suggestion has the same integrity of me asking "Hey DE, could we get an auto slot option for armor" which is to say "i have mo reason to mix and match armor right now"
I dont really like it either, was just a drastic way to call for more variance in armor that doesn't prompt a "best in slot" scenario
Especially one that doesn't prompt the best in slot to be a full set
I think that'd be a better option. You reminded me of Fallen London auto equip system they introduced recently whereas you can slot in the best armor for a particular check.
How come i'm using the pensive set in 3 different builds just because they all hit the spirit req?
this seems like a better solution
I honestly dont like neither of them
I want to have a reason to choose what armor i'm rocking
Not to auto slot the best value one...
Plus it (mostly?) would cover "What if I don't have the full 'set'?" question.
but at the moment if you want max physical defense it seems like the lil zook mask with the arbear chest/legs is actually better than the full set because of its better scaling
assuming youre leaning into some spirit
also. even once moonsteel becomes accessible for free with trading and stuff. new players probably wont be able to get it very easily. so theyd just be losing access to customization
There is still a question of a full set. If the option you're suggesting is twofold:
-An option to equip a full set.
-An option to mix and match.
That'd be fine, but the original header and the idea is very misleading otherwise.
Oooohh i cant talk on that, i lost the halloween event...
so really what you want is more diveristy in it and maybe for it to not be designed as a set stat wise? because that i can totally agree with
100% this, i just went with a somewhat absurd take cause i though it would bring more to the table
I was probably wrong on that tho lol
yeah maybe. i read the title and went "no way this sounds like a terrible idea" desite the fact it seems to come from something that we both think should be addressed as more armor gets added and natrually over lap/make each other redundant
I'll probably delet this post later to avoid any further confusion and reword it lol
P15 will introduce a plethora of new stats on gear, depending on how they're distributed, armor mix and match will be more important than it is now.
I'm really looking forward to it!
