Attached is a video showing the problem.
I was doing a tale that lead me to open a crypt. It was a three parter.
The first was to intercept a message, so I did that. I did not get a key.
The second was to either go to a shop, or get a key by fighting. I had to buy some other resources, so I went to the shop. The shop did not have a key for sale.
I went on, assuming the crypt would have a key nearby. It didn't. I searched and searched and found nothing. Luckily, I still had a key in my inventory that I likely picked up elsewhere. This keye didn't work, as shown in the video. Effectively I was soft-locked for going to the shop. However, I decided to restart the game fully and when I got back to this point, the key I had already in my inventory worked and I was granted passage.

From memory an enemy in the last section is meant to drop a key and you have to pick it up manually with the interact button? But I might be thinking of other types of objectives.
Was one of the middle objectives in the series actually labelled something like
"Get a crypt key"?

as i described, there was an objective that told me to go kill someone who had a crypt key. However, it also had the optional side route of going to a shop instead. I went to the shop, as I needed other resources as well, and there was no key for sale.
