Im pretty sure it was mentioned briefly in a recent dev short
Steve has said he's interested in them, but the newer upscalers aren't set into any sort of plans yet
i see
mainly probably because the games do infact run well without upscaling
I've been injecting framegen DLSS for a while to survive the horrible framedrops that go below my gsync window in some areas (specially the eastern spider pit with a undercity entrance). I think the game is far from running well but it does look amazing at least.

I gotta disagree with the "far from running well" part honestly
Like a hard disagree
Yes things can be optimized more, but the game already runs very well
Think your expectations for either your gpu, or the games performance with whatever settings you may have, are just far too high
and now are you talking about the dungeon loading rooms or what? with the places where the fps drops below the g-sync window
because that is by design to speed up world loading
No, I'm talking about just existing in the area. Mockery boss altar and Wevetwood are other places that came to mind. I'm also running the game on mostly mid settings with some toggles disabled. RTX3060.
wevetwood, yes, bit of a performance hit because of the sheer amount of foliage in the area
mmmmm what resolution?
1440p DLSS quality most of the time. I would use balance if it wasn't for frame-gen.
aaaand what fps number are you targeting?
because i will say, a 3060 is not a 1440p gpu if you're wanting high fps numbers
and frame generation doesn't exactly help with your "real fps" numbers
I agree, that's what DLSS is for. I know the whole industry is kinda forgetting this, but performance should be evaluated on native res to begin with. If mid range gpus aren't expected to handle 1080p rendering fairly easy, then at least make full use of the AI cores and their functionality (I recognize saying this while unofficially using DLSS4 on a RTX3xxx may be a little ironic).
"mid range gpu", yes. from 5 years ago
I don't care about input lag on PvE, but the extra frames at least help my screen syncing refresh rates
If we talking about current mid range, 2k should be the standard. Also, it's not like soulframe is using ray tracing or a modern, state of the art graphics engine.
Soulframe does use global illumination (tho it's a toggleable setting)
which is in essence a sort of ray tracing feature
I probably have that toggled off
if it isn't already btw, turning Volumetric Fog from high or medium to Low, has a very minimal visual impact, but a big performance impact
got that on low as well, as long as its not off it looks perfectly fine for me
and no, mid range is still 1080p as standard.
or at most 60fps on 1440p with medium/low graphics presets in most games
yepp
Whatever, If my goal was to explore my settings and their possible impact on performance, I would send you a screenshot right away, honestly got the feeling for how every setting impacts after years of gaming and programming culture. The tech underlying soulframe can even run on DX11, I'm not judging it using 2025 AAA top graphics game standards when it clearly isn't one. It's still a pre-alpha, I'll give you that... But as a game, it is far from running well == lacks optimization. TBE? sure. But It's the big '26 and who knows when the game will be officially released, frame gen scaling is TBE and reaching launch in a well optimized state also is.
