#Survey or Focus Feedback

Had some very interesting conversations today elsewhere, some frustrations from players who needed a place to speak. Quite a few players are finding it difficult to provide feedback due to the other conversations being had in the feedback, ideas being bogged down due to either overwhelming number of things or concerns that the loud minority is drowning out the quiet majority.

Having a place where folks who wanted to air some of their frustrations helped for the conversation that was being had. There were some ideas about possibly having either polls or surveys or something sent out so players could better express what they wanted without it being bogged down in the chaos of the forums or the discord and feel like their concerns were being noted.

I know formats like Steve's impromptu streams or an official stream from Soulframe might get things bogged down too much in chat channels, but perhaps a survey or something that can be sent out for players to express their thoughts, and then have it addressed by the team in a video format or something could go a long way to help address some of the concerns that might otherwise get drowned out in the forums.

Yeah better ways to add feedback add a way to have polls to things to just say if you agree or not

Maybe a way to limit some of the topics that keep popping up to not fill the the general thread idk

But yes I agree something more would be great

The feedback channels seem to have a low signal to noise ratio (nerd speak for a lot of off topic posts that drown out the constructive feedback). There are a few bad actors that deliberately try to ruin a feedback, but mostly the current freeform format doesn't lend itself to keeping things on topic.

Besides the devs creating a survey, would be nice to have more types of feedbacks. Like a poll type with no posts. Those could be agree/not agree or multiple choice format or more.

Another idea is to have a section where players can create their own discussion on a topic. Since the only other place to do that is the official forums (not this discord), many just have a discussion right in someone's feedback.

Oh I don’t find surveys that say “do you agree yes or no” as being very productive but there are ways to send out surveys to convey the detailed feedback you are looking for and what player thoughts are in regards to it.

I do think it would be great if we had a direct feedback form other than the discord. It would be easier to be able to send a form in and go "hey, here's what I think about this thing" and feel like its going directly rather than us screaming into DA VOID. And would also invite more feedback

I do like the idea of feedback forms directly to the Devs but I'm not sure it would solve the issues here. I play a few games that have both and although people send feedback in it disappears into the void and they don't see a response. Most prefer posting on discord feedback because at least they know it's seen there and in some scenarios it's nice to collaborate ideas with others. The flip side obviously being that this can descend into never ending debates.

I do think allowing vote reactions on feedback threads would be useful as it would allow anyone interested including the Devs to see at a glance the ratio of agree to disagree. And people who can't be bothered entering into the lengthy debates can leave their vote and it still be visible.

I don't know much about the moderation options for discord but can you add automatic slowdown modes on feedback threads. Limit users to one post per thread each day so they have to carefully consider their stance and set it out in one go, avoiding the back and forth. You give your opinion, not comment on others apart from responding to the OP

yeah I think its best in tandem with this. I for one also avoid making some threads because my feedback just because I don't wanna deal with getting pings for it from folk

I see you've discovered why Steve was so eager to get the Forums up and running. SteveSoon

While Discord's threads feature is fine, you can't sub-section any deeper than we are now, which is how we have like what? 400 active conversations that might not have more than 3 people in each. It makes building real constructive conversations like herding cats.

Even with the forums its also got the issue that well, in both cases its easy to devolve into arguments droolingkitty I'm guilty of that myself. Dropping a slip into a feedback void I can say things and not deal with it

Each person that writes a feedback has the option to lock his own thread

#

What would we better is reaction permissions for OP

#

To add ✅ ❌ to their post so that people react

#

DE staff removed reaction permissions because they said they would react to posts

#

But they dont

#

So give us react perms

+1 love the idea of a survey

Another game I played in EA had a dedicated feedback portal that the devs kept an eye on and flagged what was on their radar to address, so that might be another option to look into.
I'm fine with polls and surveys, but it depends on how they're implemented. Like would they be here on the discord, emailed out, in game?

Just having a regular one that goes out once every couple weeks would be good

I enjoy the +1 and -1 system because I either agree or not, im not trying to change peoples opinions or argue(even though i do) I just want to put my personal opinion out there. There are much better ways to give the kind of one way feedback id like to contribute.

Also everyone needs to brace themselves because Steve warned this year they would be totally overhauling many systems and shaping the game to their vision by removing a lot of necessary placeholders. Goodbye to all skill trees as we know them.

I also wouldn't mind more "here's changes we have planned" ahead of the patch if its preludes

#

that way we can give some feedback prior for some changes,a nd if it looks very bad they may rework it before the effort is put in to push it through

#

similar to early early preludes

# dim moth I also wouldn't mind more "here's changes we have planned" ahead of the patch if...

A rough road map would be super helpful. Peoples feedback will change if they are aware of bigger picture. Like armor scaling with courage is different if were getting an armor rework with armor set bonuses. Or prisms being an item instead of a slider, but do they plan to add unique weird prisms in the future that wouldnt even work with a slider system. We all have tunnel vision now.

Yeah exactly that.More communication as a whole is honestly the thing I want now with some recent developments. That way we don't get hit with "but why?" on some things.

Star citizen has a bug tracker called the "Issue Council" that uses votes, categorization, and searching systems, similar to the way posts works on discord. I think a suggestions and bug reports system built similar to this may be beneficial in this case.

I am including example images.

+1, I think being able to react to a post on discord could help too in distinguishing if a post has many replies bcs it's controversial (like the same 3 ppl debating for dozens of messages) or bcs many ppl agree/support the idea (so dozens of "+1" messages)
