Rewatching the devstream right now, trying to take in the changes, and i just gotta say:

They sell this prism system as a solution to a problem that never was.

The issue the community has brought up these past few months about the virtue system can be boiled down to "courage is objectively better".

Why was courage objectively better? Because it was the only virtue that meaningfully affected pact arcanics. Weapons could all be attuned to courage so there's no reason you would give up ability strength for weapon damage.

There would be no issue with "micromanaging plus minus" if there was an actual reason why we would spec into spirit and grace. On the contrary, people would actually use the freedom this plus minus offer to finetune their build instead of dumping it all on courage.

with the new system they said pact and weapons are getting new scaling according to the new system and the plus minus system isn't hard to grasp but they had a point you would be surprised how many people end up not spending points or don't look up things up and had no idea that courage was the go to and where wondering why nothing was good i think is a great rework

Issue here is that unspent points could simply be notified when you first acquire them, like every single rpg does

#

And the "dont look up" issue is more about how most stuff is poorly explained rather than it being a problem of the distribution system

why do you keep saying every other rpg personally i like the unique mechanics i dont want this to be 'every other rpg"

#

i honestly cant comprehend the flak its getting its literally the same system just you don't have to plus minus every time you switch weapons i feel like people are just not saying what they really mean "i don't want to farm them"

I mean, not wanting to farm them is a very fair and valid complaint, because that literally removes freedom of build customization

# odd thorn There's a difference between getting the best out of a weapon, and having a weap...

and they said there is no virtue requirement anymore like there is now, so you will always have the base stats of the weapon, so im sure it will be "properly usable". you also probably already have some leveled totems and maybe even a rune, and they didnt mention reworks on pact skilltrees, so you can get your preferred virtue from there as well.
so chill. youre turning a mosquito into an elephant

One issue that I see running off-virtue weapons even without the damage nerf, is armour, which I am sure will be changed in the future in one way or another. Currently it is kind of binary and unless we are using weapons which specialises in big single hits, the base damage could fall under the armour threshold in some content and do exactly 1 damage per hit

yeah it feel weird adding more virtue value relevancy but removing the freedom of distributing it.

And the new system seems like only adding more issues, more variety and farming issues of something that could've been done as a QoL changes like notifying you have unspent point and make speccing to other virtue matters.

#

I for one welcome the virtue scaling to abilities simplified to correspond to the ability virtue slots and the stat bonuses they bring, but forced distribution just feels wrong especially if it introduces an extra layer of grind.

yeah i mostly agree with the plus minus not being the issue, this would be better solved if theyd make it a choice, some of us prefer the micro management where some would prefer a quick set up, the option to choose to micro manage our own set ups i think should be the solution not just leaving it as is or changing it entirely but thats just my opinion everyone is entitled to there own thoughts
