#Cannot Complete the Waste Bear Quest

I cannot defeat the bear after hours of trying. It seems like once the quest is started, you cannot stop it and continue with the game?

I quite the game and reload. I am in the open world, but I still have the alternate guide and even though I have quit tracking the quest, I do not get my sparrow back and I cannot do my faction quests to try to get stronger and be able to defeat the bear. The only thing marked on my map is the circle where I can go and fight the bear. No markers for Silent Rose tasks. The summoned guide just hovers next to me.

I am grace based, rank 1 with the Silent Rose, have a level 23 Thistle, a rank 9 Blitzel, or a rank 10 Gwylen. I started with only the starter "armor", but had Forgetfire armor baking and can now use that. Everything else is starter for me. I have 30 Sirin points to use and have a 4 in the circle up next to my name in the top left. I have animals on my weapons, but they are only advanced a couple steps.

The quest up to the bear was quite easy with moderate level mobs. It took me 4-6 tries to beat the pre-boss to advance to the dungeon and then the dungeon mobs were quite easy (low level).

I have had a lot of advice on how to defeat the bear. I know the mechanics, but I cannot do it. It only takes one hit in the second phase to kill me. If I could develop a stronger weapon, and get more armor, I think I could advance. Sometimes I can avoid one round of his arm attacks in the second phase, but I imagine I will have to make it through at least three to complete the quest. I am doing about 70 damage per shot.

I am admittedly a poor player of games like this, but someone has to be in the bottom 20% (or lower). I have to grind more than others to get better equipment to do the same content that others can do with poorer equipment. I am fine with that. I know my limited abilities.

But I seem to be locked into content that I cannot complete and I cannot stop playing.

otherwise, stay at the edges of the map for the ground slam. put your sirin points to use and on 2nd phase, try using picktrix powder to stunlock the bear.

I had a huge problem with this fight last week as well. Every fable up to this point was easy to very easy and this one fight seemed like a huge jump in difficulty. It took me few days of coming back to try something different. I was about the same level as you and also using Sirin (with the starter bow, sidearm, and armor). I finally managed to beat the bear with about 10% life left and no healing potions left. What helped? Few things: reallocating my points... I think in Sirin, to max out the one that helps with stagger (since that was the reason I was dying all the time), rolling a lot (I play ESO so I am very used to dodge roll, and have my thumb button on my mouse allocated to it, so I did the same in Soulframe), when the bear leaves the arena, making sure to be away from the center, and start arrow hail right into the center, so that by the time the bear jumps there, there will be some extra damage done, and finally quick shotting the heads over and over seems to prevent the bear from charging, or at least delaying a bit (even if much less damage than fully charged shots would). But, having said that... yeah, I was wishing there was a way to abort a quest line, because I was locked out of sparrow tales. I can see someone dropping a game because of that, so hopefully they add somethinng like that.

You would think DE would learn something after The New War - I've known several people that straight up quit the game once they got to that point in Warframe with no option to cancel the quest.

Waste Bear for me is similar - my most successful run was getting to phase two, but then I get killed almost immediately by the constant barrage of ground slams that I am unable to dodge (despite literally rolling on the floor). None of the quests leading up to this fight suggested it would be that difficult.

DE - please, take another look at this boss and either tune him corretly, in line with other bosses, or let us cancel the goddamned quest and do something else to build power.

Now the waste bear i can say was actually dificult af

I spend nearly an hour

I logged off and changed my build at the end to a staff...spirit stacking...to kill from range and went back in...first try after than small change

But it took me nearly an hour to get there

#

So unlucky ..sometimes the piece of sht uses the vines 7 times in a row like mf I can only dodge so many in a row or block please

I was using melee so when he did that big hit when he changes colors it sometimes hits you 3 times as he pounces you with little to no time to react at all just oh he changed color I should-...dead

Its dificult out of the fact that it's attacks are randomly bs which is impossible to study for..thers no pattern

Ud think he wouod use the vines twice..he always does....untill he does it 5 times in a row

But new war...that sht was not only easy but you could revive endlessly untill you pulled it off

The one I found nearly imposible was the one witg the necramech

And suddenly i get tossed into a room full of level 100+ enemies

I got obliterated over and over and I still went through cus progress is saved and you can just keep coming back untill it is done

Mind you id clear that room with my actual warframe

It's been a while since I did it, but I remember it wasn't the difficulty necessarily that was the problem, but the amount of new, stupid mechanics and the overall length of the quest

While I don't remember specific parts of the quest, I perfectly recall the feeling of "I am so f done with this shit, when will it be over"

And at the same time knowing that you only have two choices - you can either push through the bs, or you can leave the game - because you're not getting back to your weapons, frames and overall progress without dealing with this

And I just can't believe that after so many people complained about such mechanics in WF, they just decide to do it again

this almost made me quit this amazing game, I tried so many times to kill it underleveled with starter gear just because the game lead me there, you are literally held by the hand from the start of the game to this fight which is not good 😄

I decided not to quit and played the game for 3 days in the open world enjoying myself and I came back to the bear today and killed it in literally 5 sec lol It was super easy now. This will not be a good experience for many of new people and needs to be adjusted somehow.

Interesting comments. I did get someone to log in for me and complete the bear, so I am "back in business". Still, my feedback is that quests that lock you into a battle and you cannot quit and develop your character further is not what I like. I am not asking to make the quest easier, just let me try it, quit, develop more, and try again.

But you are not locked in? All I did was logout and I was outside the boss fight and I could do what I want. But yes it not intuitive way to leave 😄 and like I said I agree with you that the game shouldt lead us here unprepared.

If you uncheck the quest in the log the bird no longer guides you towards the bear.
You can leave and get stronger like I did, but still its not a good new player experience 🙂

What i did is I logged...changed my build...tried again

I didn't get stronguer i just swapped weapons and divinity points around specifically to deal with what I was having issues with

My experience was that no faction quests showed up. So yes, the guide no longer guided you to the boss fight, but you did not get your normal guide back and there were no faction quests to perform. Perhaps you could have just wandered around and found some mobs to fight, but I was not back in the normal game and able to gain faction points and do their quests.

If the boss is causing you difficulty, you can invite a friendly envoy to come help. It's certainly not a permanent solution for any quest issues but it may help in the short term.

Normaly the boss only shoots 2 vines after it slams in the midle of the room and only when you are at range

I had to chase the hell out of it with ocelda as it stopped the bear from even attempting to use the roots as soon as I saw him even think about it

If I didnt have the ability to straight up cheese it by perfectly predicting his random pattern to stun him before he spammed the roots on me ...it would of being physically impossible to beat that boss on my instance atleast

Mind you when I locked in and basically turned into a combat Ai to recognize when he was about to bs root spam to then stun him before he started...I won the game immediately

But I should not have to rely on God level skils to beat a beginner boss because of a bugged rotation

Block paw swipes....dodge slam....heavy attack...back up..repeat..dodge the 2 vines he's supposed to trow...or block them

But nahhh....10 roots in a row at melee range

Because the boss needs to use its 1 hit range ability that has little to no room to dodge 10 times in a row while at melee range

#

And if you somehow survive it then does its pounce where it hits you 3 times while the roots still stagger you

Runs that went perfectly with impeccable gameplay from me went to shit withing 0.0136 milliseconds

The guy has powerful abilities with questionable hitboxes and his abilities continue even while he's stunned but he doesn't chain multiple abilities to guarantee 1 shots nor does he spam the lightning strike untill you die

While his hotboxes are not super forgiving....he does not oneshot you with his bs attacks

Nor does he straight up spam ur ass with lightning 10 times in a row

The mf bear does

The bear will spam the roots bullsht untill you die and of that doesnt kill you he pounces immediately after to make sure you die for good

Its not a dificult fight untill this sht happens
