#The world feels very empty, style over substance.

I'm about 5 hours in, and I know faction exists. This opinion might change as I explore more content. I do enjoy the details of the environment, clothing, objects and dictinct cultural difference between Alca and Ode.

However, as I explore the map, there's not much to interact with except animals and enemies.

Sometime I would stumble upon random villagers that are not Ode soldiers, but I can not interact with them either, like they are just background, not characters. At least give them one or two lines and an interact option would be nice.

There are housings and tents for both villagers and Ode soldiers as well, but every time I enter one, there's only decorative objects, nothing more. I wish there's more details about their lifestyle like random notes, letters or even books.

I have the same feeling when I explore the world, it's cumbersome to travel the world so every now and then I enter houses and try looking around but there is nothing there.
I know this game is in alpha and there is nothing there right now and might be added later on but I hope to God this does change, cuz I like looking around and finding lore or listening in NPC conversations.

+1 environmental storytelling is one of my favourite things about an open world game, but it falls short when there isnt much in the environment to tell a story

ik this game is still in pre-alpha and DE probably would like to get the gameplay elements down pat first before filling the world with fluff and lore, but I kinda hope there would be some crumbs of lore

to draw a comparison, it's like how in skyrim every npc has a story, they have like letters, writings, strange things in their inventory that you can steal/look at. they have a personality.

even if soulframe doesn't get to that level I'd still like to know more, like where are all the villager npcs in mostly sinecure occupied villages? how do the sinecure interact with them? are they oppressed? enslaved? or maybe someone was drafted into sinecure in the hopes of providing for their family... or at least getting the widow's pension should they fall?

I agree there as well. It would be helpful if we are able to interact with the NPC's to get a feel about the lore of the world we are thrust in. Like some to trade with mayhaps or even other little things so far I know almost nothing about the lore or what my character is supposed to do there except the small little glimpses from the video scene.

I hope that in the future they get more live and we get to interact with them.

Thanks guys, I have expectation higher than "just testing gameplay and mechanics" because DE already released the Founder. But apparently there's still a long way ahead.

I hope they use those funding to do good writings (which I believe they will) and fill in the blank spaces.

On one hand, I don't mind that it's quiet. On the other I too would like more lore than from mote entries.

Or item descriptions.

I think it's fine if it's quiet especially out in the forests and the wilderness, but I'd expect a little bit more life from a village, especially the villager npcs that kinda just roam around and look and scream when they get accidentally blasted mid fight with sinecure

5 hours? Yea let them cook, ive been playing since march and they have added A LOT! This game is crazy compared to what existed before.

Let them cook, focus on what's there, instead of what's not, they arent finished, they have barely gotten started.

Also as someone who has combed the entire map several times, there is a lot yall arent seeing and they sneak stuff into hotfixes without telling anyone. The island is constantly growing.

# daring minnow Tbf it is still valid for someone to say that the world feels empty, since it is...

So the villagers hate the envoy and are possessed by a ode spellsong that has removed all emotions. We do run into spoutfolk merchants randomly. But the world npcs and population isnt done and hasn't been touched since p6.

It is valid to give feedback even on the first hour. And I appreciate the '5 hour' context.
But my 8 month context is that they are almost weekly adding (sometimes silently and sneakily) to this world and it used to be very EMPTY.
