That seems like something that could have been solved a different way without "changing" (using a nice word here) the way mid/late game content works.

Also, for clarity I was under the impression that "Player Level" was intended to be more of a "Account level" type thing vs a "Power Level" type thing. And instead your Pack+Weapon+Armor were the measure of your "Power Level". So, early on if you just level one pack, one weapon, and get ok armor you are basically good to go.

Ah, sorry, it is account level, but the issue was players using only unleveled starting gear, no mote upgrades, no joineries could go toe to toe with max level enemies with no issue.

Which, speculatively, might be why they implemented a different armour scaling mechanic.

Fair enough. Seems like a short sighted solution, but I guess they will have time to find a better one.

Something simple like reducing the damage a weapon does based on the gap between the weapons level and the enemies level (at a certain point). For example...

You would need to have a weapon at level x+ to do normal damage to enemies in each level range. Something like lvl5 weapons to fight lvl 10-19 enemies, lvl10 weapons to fight 20-29, ect. If you don't have that you do reduced damage (like the grey health bars now).

You either need to sell weapons (avakot merchant or capitalism camel in the nightfold) it's recommended to only sell weapons you already leveled to 30
Or you buy more weapon slots from the capitalism camel

Weapons and Packs are the only thing that matters for. You can use your starting 100 premium currency to get expansions, or just sell ones you have maxed and don't plan to use. In the future try leveling your completed crafts at the Blacksmiths until you are ready to use them.

Since there are three starting, and three animal, packs I just upgraded to 6. And got two extra weapon slots.

No, they are grey because you do less damage then their armor (at least with your quick attack) since armor is currently a flat reduction to your damage. You can Power Attack, Throw Attack, and/or activate damage buffs to do more then one damage (assuming those numbers bring you above their armor value).

as for the second half of that question, the amount of virtue symbols on your weapons does indicate how that weapon scales with said virtue

It is basically your weapons attack - enemy armor value = damage done (can't be less then 1).

It REALLY incentivizes Bow Headshots OR high damage Power/Thrown Attacks. Also, you can use Arrow Volley or Flyblade alt attack to "Smite Fish" and use Smites for damage.

the symbols won't change on their stats, but the blessed joinery shows up underneath that so you are aware of the virtue change

Here is the maximum combat points for each weapon class currently in game.

But just in general, and regardless of how they rework the system, the perk disparity is naturally going to factor in when there are so many available weapons in some categories and so few in others.

I love sword and shield right now, and it's certainly viable to use at all levels of the game... but it's undeniable that the ease with which it's used and the gap in power between it and long blades (baring runes and assuming you've maxed out the combat arts tree) is substantial

You can switch faction if you really want it.

You need to get your faction to rank 3 iirc, get a Sacred Shimmer, then get the fragments of the Talisman of the faction you want to join (Alca's is in Glades of Andurin's chests), then once you have crafted it just talk to the faction leader and tell them you want to join up (equipping is not necessary).
You don't lose progress if you switch back to your original faction, but switching has a week cooldown.

I liked it when it was more nebulous, but all I can see with how it was on the devstream is that its basically taking player choice and build divirsity away. They basically just said hey, go earn your builds, and dont bother scaling into a mixed build cuz every pact has ONE thing it wants. So my rune has been activating when I level up a pact and "smite" one of those creatures in the endless mode. How many ways can you activate a rune? I kinda like being able to use my rune in endless, but it requires an unleveled pact.

It does not require an unlevelled Pact, Runes activate on any Smite, the Mockery Soul Steal is a bit buggy because it's not technically a "Smite" but can still activate Runes

Strange. I've played endless countless times and it only activates the rune with an unleveled pact. Guessing it's a bug or something?

I noticed it goes in this order:

1. Pact levels up
2. I smite a mockery soul
3. Rune activates

Without leveling up:

1. No level up
2. I smite a mockery soul
3. Nothing happens
   -# This happens with unleveled and fully leveled pacts.

Just ran 3 separate endless rounds to test.

Should clarify, activating Runes normally does not require an unlevelled Pact, it's possible the bugged/inconsistent partial activation you get from Mockeries sometimes only happens with unlevelled Pacts

But the intended activation of Smite will work regardless of it being levelled or not

I can only speak for the Mage Pack but it helped me a lot in the beginning armor and damagewise. Especially against bosses and harder enemies. The other Staff is good too although i didnt compare stats but the deal is worth for what youre getting.
