Duo duelo and the bleed build up mechanic make melting bosses in seconds no problem, especially when using a bow
The flintlock is also a powerhouse every 20 seconds
And then the virtue and slow buff just make hitting things easier and increase your damage
Duelo if used right is potentially the most broken pact rn

Duelo is fun to play and needs to be played in a way that makes you engage with the combat system, I don't think anything strong needs to be nerfed
Duelo shines when you’re using rapier or melee that was the intention, but when you combine the bleed passive with anything that is a multi hit fast attack that goes out the window, using arrow rain for example each arrow can add a stack of bleed and it just decimates health, I don’t think holding heavy attack from a distance counts as interacting with the combat system xD
Duelo as a pact doesn’t necessarily need a nerf, but certain applications of that pact need a nerf lol
That's more a bleed proc thing than a Duelo specific thing, limiting the amount of bleed procs is a reasonable change but status effects in general need work and refining
It’s the same as orengall, as a pact functionally it is “ok” but parts of it feel very underwhelming

Plenty of sources, you find a lot of the main quest lines out in the world in notes or through various activities, your best bet is to just take your time and explore places!
Imo the biggest restriction to the combat system right now is that weapon levelling takes a very long time, so when you have level 30 weapons with lots of tree investment you feel really broken. But assuming that the area we're in right now is supposed to be relatively easy, that doesn't feel like too big of an issue. Weapon slot limits meaning you have less combat variation sucks as well, especially with relatively limited enemy variation.
In terms of actual fighting, I feel like generally the balance on the boss moves are very jank, with some moves being an insta kill when hit, and some moves just doing nothing. And then there's a bit of lacking visual feedback for things like parries and perfect dodges, both on the enemy for timing them, and the dopamine reward for getting them.
For exploration, I think there's a lot of systems rn that punish going to the other side of the map. I recently spent a few days grinding the King boss, and that meant I had to stick to the bottom side of the map with the limited TPs. I think if we had free TPs just to the corner of the maps that would go a long way, alongside mounts which are confirmed afaik. I love the fact you can't explore an area all at once, you have to go on different ways for motes and things.
And obviously, more content is always better, more quests, easier ways to find the open world quests besides wiki, showing you where collect quests are etc. would do a great deal, showing the merchant permanently after discovering them etc would work, and maybe hiding cave entrances till you've found them the first time would make exploring more rewarding.

That's good, so yeah follow Orlick's new book questline as it guides you to encounter a bunch of the game's different systems. As you explore the world you'll come across other characters, like the blacksmith and the witch, who will lead you to their own questlines
basically just explore everything - that's all you need to think about

Hm normally i have 4 red suns and 2 Green moons on my sword, yesterday i had suddenly 1 red sun that was outlined in a glowing yellow and 2 green moons and higher stats, and now its back again. What can that have caused it
its one thing to have strong things but theres a lot of mechanics that outright give you wf levels of power and i dont think its healthy for the game. for example, sympathy+healing efficiency is just infinite full healing and is available on every pact. most runes are flat out op and easily chargeable to have them up forever. the argument of "just dont use them" is not good because then DE has to balance the game around these things so lesser things get left in the dust

Things that are overpowered to the point of turning off gameplay should be balanced but I don't think Duelo qualifies as far as I've experienced.
Yes a headshot with the gun from stealth will kill a guy, but that's one dead enemy on a cooldown, the gun being strong is fine

I’m new so it’s possible that I just don’t know. But what’s the point of farming different weapons if they don’t have any kind of unique skill to them? Just different stats. I got the fire king sword but it is basically no different than the sword I had before aside from stats and physical appearance. There’s no kind of weapon specific abilities?

She doesn't join the Nightfold, the Ancestor Joined pop-up seems to be a generic Fable complete one, not always for a new ancestor

for me it's never not gonna be funny that they actually didn't truly implement rapiers in the game, but instead something cooler that they then called rapiers

wulder is one of the starting weapons
Like, if you know rapiers and how they were used, you'd know they're not used that way, because they were essentially min maxed for duels and kinda fell flat the moment you weren't doing an unarmored duel. So instead the dev did a sneaky and gave us sidesword/sabers disguised as rapuers. I love the devs
That is pretty neat, justifying the reason for using them outside duels while keeping the fantasy sort of alive
the care they put on weapons in this game is what's hooked me in the most when i started. being able to point at the cuts i was doing with my longsword and say it's name from my manual made me so joyful. Like, very little games actually explore the real way those weaoons were used. and in this case, it add a layer of grounded that make the fantasy shine stronger by making it feel more real

especially since our GS aren't even that big. like, they are jsut wide, and made thicker because video game. but all of them are jsut... normal-ish? they might even be a bit short for Gs, those things were 6' long

well, i genuinly hope we do, because the current GS is already the slowest you can get before the weapon truly beomes a death trap, since, well, combat was built around those grounded movement so adding fantasy ones would jsut get you hard countered, like GS was on release (and kinda still is)

Perfect version of cogah for me would be "everything is the same, except now, enemies will always scale to the player (i'm assuming we got scaling in game for this one), and some extra variation is added". in other word, essentially wf's nightmare mode/DRG's warnings. Numbers up are lame, but extra obstacle si where you can add some good difficulty

I guess i would also like it if it wasn't jsut "raom arount and jsut kill bosses" and instead it was votive based, like, you get little boss missions. going on an agari hunt like the love imply

because if people are vocala bout it, it makes the implementation easier, since it's less "risky"
but yeah, "hard" stuff that is jsut numbers being higher is both lame and also justinviting powercreep and meta slaving. Like, people will always build for the hardest content they will have to do, so if you make people gear up for your hardmode, not only will build variety die, but also, it jsut makes the "normal" stuff become too easy, since players are overgeared

most likely. they made a whole core theme around the number 3. it also makes things easier for them because they don't have to design around the power of 4 people, not the wierd imbalance of having 4 palyers but only 3 "roles"
tho, yeah, it is annoying considering your typical multiplayer is 4 players
perosnally i'm fine with 3, because that ease of balance will give us some better content down the line
Ehh...still risky. Tech issues and the system not meeting its purpose properly are usually more of a barrier than "not enough people wanted it"

Regardless, leaving feedback is good. Ideas are good too but just don't tie hopes and dreams to them being added the way you want. They make a good framework for understanding the problem, but don't always actually work as intended. Sometimes they do get in though and that's pretty cool.
plus, there is always the classic "jsut because players like it doesn'T mean it's good for the game"
on an unrelated note: it seems they nerfed the crouch hop, as we dont stay crouched after a jump, so it breaks stealth. no more sneaking up on enemies like a cricket

Some folks figured out an input timing that let you zoom across the map, so DE patched that a couple hotfixes ago
yeah, we are getting mounts soon, so movement tricks don'T need to stay
and that also gives a LOT of insight about the design direction if true, as this was literally how WF got bullet jump. they got a vision and seem to be sticking to it, thank the saphic suns
it was no zoren coptering, tho i saw a version of dodge hopping that combined the bow mid air aim for a major vertical movement. I can understand them not wanting soulframe to be as quick and twitchy as WF is. I think soulframe works best when movement flows~~
yeah no, especially since even for warframe it turned out to be a double edged sword. speed is fun, but the faster you go, the less you get to appreciate your environment
or worse, the less you'll be able to stop and think.
(yes, the infamous netracell circle problem is a result of the game getting faster and faster, amongst other thing)
given enough time, players will optimize the fun out of everything. I do adore DE's aesthetic design and world building, and soulframe does give me a good chance to just look at the views and details. but when players are trying to do content for the 80th time, they dont want to wait in between.
oh yeah, absolutly, which is why i think they say they are introducing more variation with next prelude. that way you aren't doing the exact same thing over and over
can't go wrong with more variation, that's for sure!

especially in a slower game like this. we can't jsut skip things, so let's make sure we don't get burned out. that's also a reason why i'm so annoying about adding some form of player sclaing. because if older content can stay enjoyable, it means players can always go there for a nice change of pace when they need it
im not a fan of 1:1 level scaling, where the player and enemies always get stronger at the same pace. I would like level variance, as in the chance of a harder threat to come along that the player can face or flee from

this is an old ref, but the MMO mabinogi used to have some system where if a population of enemies was being killed repetitively for a while, it increased the chance of a extra strong variant. I think some older MMOs did the same. Either way, some level of "dynamic" gameplay, to give us a reason to do different content in areas. Ive been in the NE so long that I forgot how most of the rest of the map looks
me i know that the way Nioh 2 did things was perfect for me. i never saw the exact numbers for enemeis, so was it perfect 1:1 or was it a bracket thing, idk
otherwise, i know that guild war 2 and destiny 2 (on paper), did have zone-specific scalign for players
when i started playing WF, one of the most exciting things was the challenge spike that came from the stalker/ gustag 3/ zanuka popping in. You'd scramble to get the squad together because you could get picked off if you were alone
tho, i wish N2 was more popular, because now that i think about it, most people will think of other games that more often than not did scalign poorly when they hear the word
I do like the idea of zone scaling with some variance. Maybe have it change day by day. Maybe every day there is 2 or 3 "areas" that are experience a spike in enemy level and activity.
i feel like it would be a cool idea to introduce more caves where the enemies are naturally a bit stronger, making it so there is the base surface level with normal area scaling and a little bit harder cave level for if you want more challenge and loot

Certain stuff drops from certain enemies and bosses and that’s the main reason to do different stuff rn

@sterile wraith I honestly wasnt even thinking about the dungeons at all, but thats a much better idea. Maybe the overworld is a bit scaled up, with a dungeon tied to it. Clear the even harder dungeon, get a reward, area goes back to normal
Honestly if they double the token drop rates and enemy density, that could be a good alternative to the votives for standing
they have been trying to change that tho, on top of making it very clear that it's not gonan be WF. and so far, it's working, you can speak about nerfs and balance here and no one is going to go buckwild about how you are destroying everything fun
heck, a lot of the people that are here from warframe is because this game is kinda promissing to not go the same route

I’m curious how they’re going to scale some of their systems in the long run, but I agree, it’s got the makings to be pretty damn big of a world
same, tho I am minimally cautious, since, so far, they do stand their ground. Like, a lot of the design choice i've seen so far feel like they were purposely done to NOT be warframe. the lack of loot vaccum being the big one

yup. it was something scott was adamantly against in wf, most likely because it make skipping things and running past everything even easier. it let player be even faster and interact even less with the environment. all the carefully made tiles? jsut glorified corridors

I can kinda understand that, but even just having a bigger range would feel a little smoother in my eyes, its quite annoying having to meticulously run around after killing everything with your q sight on just to collect everything before moving on, after the 1000th enemy camp it starts to feel a bit oldschool like there should be a better way to do it if you get me

I'm a fan of slower, methoidcal combat and gameplay, its just hard to say when to lean that way. It wouldn't be the end of the world to leave some items on the ground, just give us a buy/ sell for the base resources
we do have some soft vaccum, but at the same time, walking around is kinda the name of the game. and if you don't, you miss all the chests and secrets.
tho, we used to have to go manually pick up enemy loot, which, i do be ok with not having to do so anymore. it was a bit too much slowing down
Like i dont need a vacuum to pick up the 10000th oden silk whatever, as long as the important stuff (like pearls and moranite) are harder to miss. Make opening chests more meaningful, so we look around our environment with eyes open
Yeah I hear ya, but I can’t imagine with a game world this big and the fact you have to walk between places a lot anyway that making it easier to pick up your loot makes the gameplay a ridiculous amount faster like warframe, we don’t even have slide jumping or crazy fast movement in this so you’re walking regardless to your next stop xD
All loot used to be in baggies. you'd have to stop to pick it all up. so things have moved on a little.
you also tend to naturally pick up all the stuff when fighting, especially in melee

I think as long as we can intentionally acquire the stuff we need, its fine. Like lets say I need more brass, I can seek out weapon racks, or they could add a smith NPC who sells metals

yeah, basicly due to warframe having gone full zoom and boom, it got the community to be a bit less... attentive, more focused on jsut shooting everyhting on sight and folow the objective marker. And when they added an activity called netracells, which had an objective to kill enemies IN a circle...
well, all it did is jsut highlight how zoom and boom made people unable to even hear instruction because people kept failling at that task
like, they had to change things to the point you jsut had to kill while standing yourself in the circle, and even then you still get a lot of people jsut keeping their brains off and killing everything on sight, because that's all they know. soot thing and go to objective marker and press button if needed.

is it just me or should perfect dodge have a little bit more forgiving, since rn if an enemy whiffs their attack, you basically loses the perfect dodge opportuniy for deulo's passive due to the ground uneven elevation
the problem is the attack animation due to uneven elevation, the enemy tries to hit you, but the animation doesn't line up and you straight up don't get hit, its just so clunky
regardless you have % to proc bleed on the next 3 hits after normal dodge, so that kinda evens out

maybe the dodge trigger should count it in, or they finally fixes the animation itself, either fix can work

yeah, you can change Prisms (to switch between grace/courage/spirit/hybrid builds), and you can refund skill points from Pacts and weapon Arts as much as you want for free.

eh, sort of. 6 pips, yeah, but its only 2 pips in each stat so you're only getting +1 atk per courage/spirit or +1.6 atk per grace. its not very efficient with your virtues, so even a full grace build can't cap attunement on it without reforging

yeah even a hybrid paragon can reach like 186-192 atk which is great. A pure courage Purity caps at 224, but running a greatsword with grace or spirit thanks to paragon would be really cool

Gear Attunement : the more virtue points of specified virtue you have on that increases its stat
Unique Virtue Extra buff:
Courage : gives most hp, buff 1st ability
Spirit : Reduce all Ability Cooldown, gives least hp, buff 2nd ability
Grace : Increased headshot damage and stealth damage, gives medium hp, buff 3rd ability

On the right build and with Duo Duelo active, you can use the Flintlock to one-shot bosses post HP change.
They took away the headshot multiplier on my sniper knifle.

The headshot multi can get quite out of hand.
The pistol is fairly tame without being scaled to hell by high Grace builds.
In this case I think that's a problem with Grace scaling too hard, not the arcanic itself.

i remember when the new virtues were out and everyone and their mother was crying because grace was apparently "super weak with no reasons to use"
I'm running a courage smite recharge totem on my dagger. Mixed with Duelo, it turns that thing into a bolt-action sometimes.
I mean, that was old virtues, I never heard that in the new lol. All the virtues are in a pretty comfy place right now, though Grace scales some things a bit too high.
Courage builds need some damn new armor though, as they're like 40 total points behind both other virtues.

I mean, heavier weapons do have higher DPS under flat DR, so I can see where that comes from in a 'considering each weapon at their best and used optimally* comparison, but that also doesn't account for differences in virtue layout making best and not best much more subjective and all that.
like, people don't think about what cooldown reduction can do, and that, rn, with the speed of rapiers and the damage dewelion has, that's it is kind of the strongest rn
And I'd make an argument for Gath because perfect throw headshots are monstrous sometimes.

dewelion is jsut kinda safer as while you got less damage, you have a faster speed and thus get better reaction time
And a DPS chart is, sometimes, also not the best comparison. I use Nurash as an example.
It is faster than cleavers, not as fast as basic longblade, does damage greater but still comparable with the latter.
On paper, this is bad.
But it also eats distance for a snack and hungers for more.
That thing is an absolute lunge demon.
If you can soft lock onto something, you can clear the distance in two lights. Your lights lunge further than sprint lights.
From a comfort standpoint, it plays really nicely.
But all of that is hard to represent on paper.

It doesn't have the best DPS, its attacks are entirely single target, but it is probably the best lunger in the game.
If you like spacing enemies from incredibly far away and maximum comfort when engaging and disengaging, Nurash is great.
and yeah, it gets missed, because a fair chunk of the playerbase comes frm a community that is pretty bad at looking at stuff in practice over paper XD
Just slap on an aoe damage rat totem and the single target only part is solved
Also, you will randomly do a lot of damage with it.
Cus like, 2 of its attacks are entirely vertical overheads, and another comes close.
So it gets a funny amount of accidental headshots in melee.
that would explain why rapiers are so nasty, that first attack is jsut a headshot
and let me guess, same for polearm's fist heavy? tend to hit the head more oftne?
That and I'm a sword nerd. Nurash is a concave blade and its third strike is a false-edge cut.
Honestly yeah, that and it still swings pretty wide and takes a huge step forward when soft locked onto something.

Fireballs being yeeted does not necessarily make the basic physics of swinging a sword any different, the basic reality of things should still presumedly be similar, and realism in one area does not take away from the fantastical nature of the setting. The lack of it, however, does take away from any feeling of immersion or consistency.
But hardly anyone will agree with that, apparently.

The paragon originally used a false-edge cut for its first attack, swinging directly from the shoulder with the back of the blade, that mind you is still sharp and would work. I really liked this. Apparently DE did not and 'fixed' it to match other greatswords, which still saddens me.

the changes of a design chance are too slim to expect anything,. however, i know that at least future things likely won't come out as bad
but yeah, I wish the wyld pacts would have at least fitted the armors, but that would have been a problem since those were made aroundt he base variat
i guess i do have an issue with the armors then, the one we got should have been "base" ones instead of unfitting "wylds"

The wyld arms are designed around the wyld armour, aren't they? I know for a fact that Wyld Tethren has the shoulder piece that fits with the wyld tethren chestpiece

The changed basic longblade moveset, the new purely horizontal one, has made me love Igne Mora again.
So that's my basic longblade of choice. The new moveset works wonders with Igne Mora being a looong boy.

The wyld arms have some changes yes, they have different shoulder-pieces and have wooden decorations snaking around the arm that base doesn't have
if we'd have gotten actual wyld armors and the current sets would havwe been the base
like if the arms would have been stand alone, fine, but like, the armors are classified as wyld

Stultin, Nurash, Marrow's Bane, Cenotaph 4
Stultin and Nurash do not have the cleaver moveset.
Wait, is stultin the stump?
If so, yes, but Nurash does not, its moveset is unique, and noticeably faster.
And again, that is 3, not 'way more' than 3, nor is 4 for that matter way more.
