Even after killing an enemy yoy can still smite them from my experience I believe. If you pull the soul you’ll activate your rune/replenish your skill cool-down depending on the colour you pull.

They don’t activate your ability’s however they replenish the soul virtues you smite. If you used fellust and then smite a courage from an enemy you will replenish the cool-down for that ability if that makes senses, I believe..

one of the abilities u can gain is called Dash Counter, and it works similar to a standard parry.
a green circle will appear on an enemy, and once it fully appears, u can dash into the circle to counter the enemy's attack, either on the ground or midair.

i was thinking kicks could work like that, like u can kick a enemy when they perform a heavy attack to counter it and deal lots of stagger

I am learning that parrying in this game is not an action, it is a state of being. You don't need to move to parry, you just need to believe hard enough.

And what that actually means is it turns out parry can be used in virtually every animation except jumping.

In the middle of an attack? You might not be able to block, but if you input block anyway at the right time, you'll parry cancel out of it.

In the middle of an arcanic? You don't cancel out of it... but the parry still happens, while you continue the animation.

Their blade just bounces off of the force of your conviction.

Not sure if this is true for all arcanics, but it is in the ones I've tested.

Like Teth's and Mora's Hand's arcanics.

As far as I know, you can assume parrying is always possible, even when blocking isn't, unless your feet aren't on the ground.

Keep in mind that some pacts may be harder to pull off lore-wise, as a pact does not come from an idea, but a single powerful entity. All of our current pacts aside from Ode Tempest are linked to a specific individual, though that exception is also somewhat explained as it being largely Ode tech.

You wouldn't be making a pact with 'eagles', but 'a particular grandly powerful eagle'.

Like Orengall, rather than just wolves in general.

And it may be harder to make some things into an important NPC than others.

It just depends on who they are and what they do. The pact is with them as a person. What they are will partially define that, like Bromius's pact being forceful because he's a damn bear, but it's just as if not more so tied with his role as a guardian of the forest.

Orengall has no big role beyond being a giant magic wolf though, so that pact is a lot more just wolf-themed.

actually Oscelda is kinda busted if the environment your fighting in has any body of water. one of her passives allows her to very quickly regain her abilities when standing in water allowing you to just basically enter god mode spaming them.

keep farming the far north eastern tree here the quests it gives are all relatively close together and can be done quickly. if you get a quest that needs you to enter the crypt or undercity abandon it and wait for a refresh (unless it states that you will be killing a banneret in the undercity)

Or accept the crypt quest get the key then abandon it for a free key farm

doing this proactively will have you maxing out your factions pretty quick combined with selling the faction rep tokens

Then you can do Crypts to farm if you need it xD

also always be selling your faction rep tokens, they cap out at 50 so you can not hoard them

before the tokens got added factions took about 1 week of daily grinding to max, with the new system it got cut down to like 2 days or so lmao
