I'd call Soulframe a Soulslite. It has none of the theming and world vibes of a souls game, but as a souls gamer the basic combat flow and movement feels very familiar, though the game is a great deal more casual.

So instead of Soulslike, Soulslite. Has the same basic combat vibes and nothing else.

Heavily focused on spacing, timing, knowing your lunge distance, etc.

Very methodical and almost rhythmic.

Even in the future, they mention wanting to tie extra affects to prisms. So what happens if you get a modifier that you like on a prism allotment that totally doesn’t work for your build? It’s just a “dead” prisms. A modifier and a freely allotting system doesn’t have that problem because you would’ve chosen the spread. I really don’t think the idea of prisms for virtues solved anything. Scaling changes did everything.

It wasn’t that way before prisms. You got health just for having any points for example. They reworked that system when they added prisms. The prisms themselves had/have no effect on the new scaling.

and if you remove prisms? You can still assign points to any of these spreads prisms create. You just now can’t assign them outside of those specific cookie cutter allotments.

There was a reason it was all courage before. It’s not because prisms didn’t exist (I mean we still have a full courage prism, if it was prisms why wouldn’t people just use that?) it’s that the game changed scaling as a whole.

right now the only thing to the hardmode is just bosses, which in many games with a hardmode can just be cheesed. If cogah wants to be more impactful then it should be better incorporated to other gameplay elements, like how steel path in warframe gives higher drop chance

honnestly? something similar to warframe's nightmare mission and Deep rock galactic's warning. Same thing as normal, but with a twist that forces you to adapt. you'd get actual difficulty that way, instead of jsut a number handicap.
