Who here wants to play in a band?
π€ what's this π
Actually I want to be a singer but not sure how I'm thinking some ppl here is able to help or something
How do they start?
This is for beginner guitar specifically
I guess this counts cause I bought my guitar yesterday
Yeah that's cool. What kind of guitar and have you ever played a musical instrument before?
Acoustic guitar
And nope never played any instrument before
If any it's just like some 1 day free lesson
Ok. I could send you a couple videos to help get started
How long does it take for the finger to get used to the strings?
Played with it yesterday
Today it felt off
Like if I don't touch them they feel numb when I touch them they kinda hurt or something
You're just starting so it will take a while to develop calluses and its normal to experience pain. Learning to play an instrument requires consistency. Like lifting weights you have to start small, recover, then increase the intensity to make new gains.
Calluses?
Calluses is when the skin on the palm of your hand hardens from practice
π
have you ever played a sport?
Actually not really
If I did it isn't often
Oh ok. When you are trying to get good at something, your body has to get used to it, that's what calluses are. You may be sore but it means you're getting stronger
Also something random
How many types of acoustic guitar strings are there
What makes them different from the rest?
What do you think is the best for beginners (not that I'm changing it soon since I only bought it yesterday and it already came with strings but eventually I need to change it)
So example inline skating
When starting my legs hurt but after a while they don't hurt as bad
Is that what this is?
Not sure what type is on my guitar right now
Iirc the shop there's like a lot of them for just acoustic guitar excluding the other types of guitar
80/20 bronze strings is what I would recommend. There's a lot of different types of material and gauges. Usually for beginners I recommend the beginner guitar packs that come with a tuner, case, extra strings,
Yeah this is the right idea, your body has to get used to inline skating just like your body has to get used to playing guitar
Different types materials and gauges? What's their difference?
How do I see what's on my guitar right now?
Or I need to asked the shop owner?
Yeah I would go ask the store owner. This article explains the materials and gauges well https://www.adkguitar.com/blogs/news/the-ultimate-guide-to-the-different-types-of-acoustic-guitar-strings
Totally using chords to build calluses on multiple fingers at once
That part of the finger is kinda hard now but it's kinda itching π€
Recover then keep practicing. You got this

I have this random cool chords app
(It has an AI that analyzes songs and gives their chords tho I haven't actually tried it since I'm not at that level to play through a song yet)
(These 6 from the video tho F looks kinda different)
π€ π
Yeah the F looks different than the way I taught it. I taught the simpler version. Definitely try and learn it with your first finger touching two strings
@grim cobalt Do all guitars have this type of names or just some special guitars?
- All guitars have different names. Used to identify the particular guitar so another person can find it if they look it up. Michael Kelly Triple 50 is just the name of mine.
Where did you buy second hand guitars? Are they more likely to spoil easily?
- I found mine on Guitar center Used. They always fix it well before reselling. People have used guitars for a long time. It's honestly how you take care of it.
hey man! Cool that your talking bout all this, but please dont dm this to random people like me.
You were in the last one so just letting you know we moved here

What would you like to learn?
My next video is going to be on 16th notes
The following will be on learning the fretboard
My end goal is to be able to shred essentially. So like theory for improvising
Iβd recommend that you learn to play by ear. If you can listen to songs and copy what the guitarist is doing, you can make up your own stuff and play anything. Also start doing exercises on developing speed in both hands, picking and fretting
.
well this was an interesting thread to read that both started and left off today
also @grim cobalt i can also help if you need any tips n such
hey so, im not exactly a beginner, but I dont anything. what i mean by that is ive had my guitar since summer of last year, and learned a few riffs, but to be honest I am terrible at playing. I dont know any chords, I cant alternative pick, and I just need a crap ton of help in general. where do I start?
I still remember the day I got my guitar, I was over the moon or whatever the fuck people say π€·ββοΈ playing guitar or just learning an instrument in general was and still is my long time dream. the thing is, im useless on my own, and after all this time I have been nothing but unmotivated and learnt nothing. I just need a push
If you want to learn chords, watch this video.
You can learn a lot of your favorite songs w just these chords, you can learn a lot of strumming patterns w these chords. These are the basics to expanding on your instrument.
