Yes; regular beat cops don’t carry guns, but have you seen a UK armed police unit? The guys carry G36’s, various units also have access to MCX’s or HK416’s, among a plethora of other rifles

Out of the 140,000 police officers within the UK, only about 6,200 carry some sort of firearm. That's like pouring a single bag of pool cleaner into lake Michigan

The US has a similar thing set up. We have something called the posse comitatus act which prevents active duty personnel from operating within the US and enforcing US laws.
The only exception to this is CAG (Delta). They can operate within the US with a very strict set of rules if the President gives the approval. CAG actually does in-country urban environment training ever year.

Using gun ownership as deference for lacking armed police makes no sense. Armed police don't exist solely to counter guns, nor is it their primary purpose.

Don't worry it's not just you - just that trying to use logic in response to a meme post never gets much traction 🤷 you only have to walk around parts of London to realise the armed police presence is very real around government buildings, major train stations etc. and that the chances of them being required elsewhere at all times is very low (whereas armed units exist in every county to deal with incidents that crop up). Because the law doesn't prohibit it in the UK you also get full on UKSF units turning up to terrorist incidents too. Anyway none of this has much relevance to a SOF focused game unless we get Clean House in VR, which I'd very much be on board with...

i dont understand the argument but as a person who lives in the uk there is certainly a larger amount of armed police in London than most people think, most of the ones i've seen carry MP5's or G36's and have sidearms as well so we are certainly quite well armed just not as much as US obviously.
But yeah if there was an urgent situation in a small town then we'd be fucked because of armed police response times

I know at least 2 people who live in my town and illegally own handguns and should DEFINETELY not be trusted with them, so I think we should try to increase the number of armed police to at least 1 armed unit per town
