Seen this feature used in a handfull of contractors mods and it was creative.

amber plank

It’s already been suggested awhile back, however I believe a realistic system was never decided upon so good to bring it up again

blazing jasper
#

What?!? I seriously thought i was being smart and was the first to suggest this 😦

split pebble
#

I feel like this is already implemented this is just a wild guess tho

blazing jasper
#

I highly doubt it, contractors was the only vr shooter to implement it

split pebble
#

Onward?

blazing jasper
#

No there is no counter for when you look into the mag

split pebble
#

Oh sorry I didn’t understand you

blazing jasper
#

there is no ammo counter either

split pebble
#

I thought you meant when you look in the mag you can look inside the mag to see how much bullets you have

blazing jasper
#

that would be cool

#

but onward actually doesnt display all the bullets i tested, only shows about 4 then theres nothing

split pebble
#

Yea true

blazing jasper
#

even at full mag

#

I hope a lot of these suggestions wont be limited because of optimization

#

Because lets be honest who has a gtx 1060

void violet
#

In real magazines unless they’re windowed or have witness holes you can’t see shit

lavish knot
#

i hope that they show all of the bullets in the mag that also accurately show how many is left in the mag instead of like 6-4 in most onward guns

blazing jasper
void violet
#

Most times you can’t even see past the third round

lavish knot
#

true but the onward mags have space for showing all of the bullets but still dont

#

many times i cant tell how many rounds i have left when using the mk16

void violet
#

And it’s still accurate to real life

blazing jasper
void violet
#

Do you want realism or convenience

lavish knot
#

i think 4 bullets floating at the top of the mag isnt really accurate

blazing jasper
#

🤣

void violet
blazing jasper
void violet
#

Let me grab a photo. I had a discussion about this with a dev in the GoT server

lavish knot
#

yea what im saying is that you can see past the top 4 in most of the mags but you can see that its empty underneath

blazing jasper
lavish knot
#

if they have to make it so you cant see past the top but since you can i feel that they should include all of the round to so you can accurately so how many are left since there is room to look (in the game)

void violet
#

“do you all own guns at all? you want us to be as realistic as possible and you want to look down the top of a mag to check rounds? come on guys. mp5 9mm mag full.”

#

That is what was sent. Talk about realism

blazing jasper
#

Those are some fat shells

lavish knot
#

or some small hands

void violet
#

All about perspective, it’s just 9mm

blazing jasper
#

Small ass hands

split pebble
#

Nobody has been listening to spoon in this convo

void violet
#

I feel ignored😢

split pebble
blazing jasper
#

its what my uncle calls em

amber plank
#

So don’t think I can

twilit sparrow
#

No ammo counter

blazing jasper
split pebble
#

I don’t think that’s reliable to tell how much bullets are in the mag

blazing jasper
#

It is impossible for a magazine loaded with 30 rounds to weigh the same as one loaded with only 5

split pebble
#

True but still unreliable

blazing jasper
#

For example is Ready Or Not or squad

#

o insurgency sandstorm

split pebble
#

I don’t think im understanding to what you are responding to

blazing jasper
#

i talked about how the system of displaying the remaining ammunition in a magazine could be implemented

split pebble
#

So are you responding to me or him because you replied to me and then started talking about something else

blazing jasper
#

something google translate not work

blazing jasper
#

I don't know if the translator didn't help me or you're very sleepy but I was answering it to someone else when you answered me

#

so...

split pebble
#

Maybe both 🤷🏽‍♂️

blazing jasper
#

Ok, I go back to what I said

split pebble
#

👍

blazing jasper
#

A magazine has a different weight than fully loaded and having a few rounds left. This feeling of inaccurate knowledge of the loader can be implemented in two ways.

Color system: White (full), yellow (semi-full), red (Almost empty) black or gray (Empty).

Percentage system: An approximate of the content of a magazine would be shown according to a target that will be drained by a predetermined amount of bullets

twilit sparrow
#

Nah

blazing jasper
#

It would be reckless to have a magazine that is about to run out when entering a new room.

twilit sparrow
#

Not realistic

blazing jasper
split pebble
blazing jasper
split pebble
#

Ok

blazing jasper
# twilit sparrow Not realistic

That doesn't tell me anything. Are you a veteran with combat experience or some kind of experienced shooter to know that it's unreal?

twilit sparrow
#

Yup

blazing jasper
#

I have nothing more to say, you are the expert here

twilit sparrow
#

Mags don't weigh enough to be able to tell close to how many rounds are loaded, especially in a high-tensity combat situation.

plush mauve
#

I think like tarkov you have to just count your shots

twilit sparrow
#

Of course a full mag weighs differently than an almost empty one, but to be able to get a good round count estimate is on the side of unreal

twilit sparrow
blazing jasper
twilit sparrow
plush mauve
twilit sparrow
#

like look at the rounds left

#

Theres a reason pmags with side windows exist

plush mauve
twilit sparrow
#

yup

blazing jasper
twilit sparrow
blazing jasper
#

i can barely see the third round

twilit sparrow
#

your problem not mine

blazing jasper
twilit sparrow
blazing jasper
#

So we have two weapons experts, one says that you can barely see the first 3 bullets in an ordinary magazine, another says that you can see more than 4, who is right?

twilit sparrow
#

At what point did me and Herbi disagree

#

you're looking at the same pictures I am here above

#

heres the trick

plush mauve
#

If they want to add the counter maybe make it as an option?

twilit sparrow
blazing jasper
twilit sparrow

twilit sparrow
blazing jasper
#

There must be a balance between realism and fun.

plush mauve
blazing jasper
#

the ideal is to have a balance

plush mauve
#

wym? Have you seen Arma?

#

Ready or not?

blazing jasper
#

They do not resemble reality

#

because they are games

plush mauve
#

I'd say the gun play in those is pretty realistic. No game will every portray reality. Like you said they're games. But this game is being marketed as Mil-Sim so the idea is as close to reality as possible

blazing jasper
#

The biggest difference between reality and a game is death.

While death in a game is an obstacle, in real life death means the end.

plush mauve
#

Okay but we're not talking about that, we're talking about an ammo counter. Hence why this is a simulation?

twilit sparrow
#

Thats silly

#

In game, death means you can't play anymore. The end.

#

This isn't a game where you're going to just be able to respawn

blazing jasper
blazing jasper
twilit sparrow
#

:|

blazing jasper
#

we should somehow understand that even if the game wants to resemble reality, it should also have mechanics that are fun to play.

twilit sparrow
#

Too bad :(

blazing jasper
#

a balance should be found.

I say this because seeing an approximate amount of the magazine is also a design decision in tactical games and it is not for a selfish reason

twilit sparrow
#

Realism = Selfish

blazing jasper
blazing jasper
#

you are absolutely right, let me give you your crown of expert and please forgive my ignorance

#

I will not give my opinion again to give ideas of game designs and I will totally appeal to the design of real life

#

im so sorry

twilit sparrow
#

its ok

twilit sparrow
twilit sparrow
#

yup

blazing jasper
# twilit sparrow yup

lol, If they are all veteran experts and they are all right, then who among them is right?

#

Sure, you couldn't answer that, you're a weapons expert, not one in society.

quasi crater
#

The magazines show the actual bullets, if you have a semi-transparent mag you can kind of tell how much ammo you have left but no counters, absolutely no counters

manic flame
#

NO counters

twilit sparrow
#

Thanks buds

lucid tangle
#

holding a magazine with more bullets should have more hand lag than a magazine with less

quasi crater
quick tartan
#

floating counter is not realistic I at least hope bullets left are actually simulated inside mag

quasi crater
neat rock
#

Some mags do have features to tell the user how many bullets are in their mag like the ak12 mag has that feature

neat rock
void violet
manic flame
#

there are many ways

blazing jasper
#

Thanks. No counters seem fine. So there will be windowed mags?

void violet
#

I feel that windowed Pmags, witness holes, or mag cutouts are the best way to go about things

blazing jasper
#

Factual

#

Except they dont fully show all the bullets 😔

void violet
#

That’s ok

amber plank
#

i mean its something from the internet so it must be real

blazing jasper

Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not, but like in Ground Branch, the way they do it is they show a symbol that shows an approximation, like a quarter, half, three quarters, or full, and the way they justify it is that you're feeling the weight of the magazine. Honestly most people when mag checking won't stand there and stare into the abyss of their mag to try to count the rounds, they either just quickly feel the weight if it's heavy they know it's mostly full, or if it's very light they might look at the top to see if they're down to one, two, or three, but between that it's all estimation. Windowed mags would be a cool feature since it's VR so it's cool Pebbles confirmed there will be windowed mags. Not a fan of translucent mags personally, the concept is fine, but so many of them are not durable or reliable.

plush mauve
void violet
#

You can 100% still do that

limpid idol
karmic fossil
amber plank
#

Actually that would be a good idea but it would be kinda janky

#

Tbh I would just use windowed mags

karmic fossil
#

Yeah true, though prolly PMAG then for HK’s since I don’t think they standardize windowed mags for those
