This is pratically "RUST vr" so a few things especially for the kind of game it is in general. First, plz for the love OF GAWD ADD STAIRS, the constant bugs happening every like 30 mins makes climbing in order to scale up a lot harder, (especially with some tools being equiped after hitting something for to long that tool takes a new position in you hand so it could turn 90 degrees if I'm facing my hand out.) so even if issues like this still occure. AT LEAST I CAN GO UPSTAIRS, you know to not die straight away. 2, more weapons (even melee) like a spear could be a bit helpful cuz of distance, but also more guns, they don't have to do more damage per say, but just take the same ammo and match the "style" you like to play as. 3, idk how developers handle this stuff, but one thing I hate is quest 2 games look SO BLOCKY. I know the thing can run better graphics. If it's possible maybe make a feature to make graphics like "high, medium, low" or something. (It's upsurd that I can't even see grass on the ground. :/ What am I on like 4? Ok, 4, maybe something you have considered but a more detailed map would be nice.... (and maybe a bit bigger and you'll know why........) But like maybe since thers places like a gastation or wood place thing, maybe consider roads? Which roads and bigger map leads to my last thing. Gawd dammit here me out.... I would so buy this game when it releases along with probably so many others if we knew there could be veichles!!! Now I know that means getting fuel (ahem gastation) and figuring out ways to repair them. But maybe small looking cars (maybe that look like old mercedes benz's..... ahem they are pretty sweet tho and I think would match the game). But last thing when I said veichles you have to know better than anyone else... THE REASON FOR A BIGGER MAP (and maybe more POIs now thinking bout it) HELICOPTERS!!!!!!!!!!! lol, maybe using the "flappybird mechanic" so it's not to difficult. I cant type more but plz consider any of this

#

Jeez that's a lot more than I thought..... enjoy reading lol! but seriously devs and fellow lads, what's your opinion??

# fleet holly This is pratically "RUST vr" so a few things especially for the kind of game it ...

I'm the graphics programmer on the team. I definitely agree with making the Quest 2 look better but there's a lot of things to consider regarding the Quest, the first thing is that the Quest is really powerful but is still a mobile device. That doesn't mean it's weak but what it means is that it's a lot harder to make things run well on the device. In a perfect world I would be able to write my own rendering stack for the Quest and have it work, but unfortunately Unity doesn't make things that simple (and we're too far integrated into the URP). I'm gonna keep iterating on the Quest's visuals as time goes on but as of rn it's the best I could get with literal months of cumulative effort ranging from October 2023 to December 2023

Oh and fun fact, grass had to be scrapped on Quest as of rn because of some fun issues I've found regarding oversights in the Quest's GPU design. I'm still working on a method to workaround these issues but grass just isn't do-able right now because Qualcomm (the makers of the Quest chip) decided to cut corners on some pretty important graphics features and slap a "it works" sticker on it.

I am experimenting with something Meta has called "level trading" where you can trade a performance level between the CPU and GPU to make one of them faster but the other slower. If I can get CPU utilization down (which I've been working on a lot in this latest update), I may be able to trade a CPU level for a GPU level which should allow for more graphics headroom in the future

Yeah actually

That sucks 😞

In particular I've noticed the XR2 series of chips has some serious regressions in performance with handling transparent stuff

#

In my testing it feels genuinely like the feature is broken and not working as intended with how slow it gets with like a dozen or so transparent things on screen

Good to know. You're definitely the right person to ask so I seized the opportunity 🤣
