I was exploring the beach and i always hoped there was more then just 1 fish there. So i made a list full of fish that could be seen in the 17th century in this remote big island. And yes i think they are absolute accurate.
Barracuda
Long aggressive reef predator fish. Sailors definitely knew these.
Tuna
Massive food source fish found in warm oceans for centuries.
Mackerel
Very common schooling fish.
Parrotfish
Tropical reef fish with colorful scales and weird beak mouths.
Grouper
Big reef fish hiding near rocks/caves.
Snapper
Extremely believable tropical survival fish.
Moray eel
Stingray
Common in shallow tropical waters.
Flying fish
SUPER accurate. Sailors in the 1700s literally wrote about fish gliding over waves.
Pufferfish
Toxic fish known in tropical waters.
Sardines/Anchovies
Small schooling fish near shores.
Needlefish
Thin spear-looking fish common in warm seas.
Reef shark
Historically accurate and probably the BEST shark choice.
Blacktip shark
Very believable around tropical islands.
Hammerhead shark
Rare sighting type thing but absolutely existed there.
Sea turtles
Massive survival-era food source for sailors.
Crabs
Obviously accurate.
Lobsters/spiny lobsters
Tropical islands had these naturally.
Octopus
Common reef animal.
Squid
Seen by sailors for centuries.
Jellyfish
Definitely accurate.
Dolphins
Sailors constantly reported dolphins following ships.
(additional info: they are rarely seen, or partially seen. So u dont immediately spawn with so many variety of fish, they also spawn by ur playthrough and how long u survived so its always something new to see in the sea the more u explore.)
and also add spears please.
