I think this could really well in the game as not only a weapon but a way to have animals during the night to get away from a certain area or such. It could maybe work somewhat during rain but have a reduce damage input. I think having 3 in a box like crate like the medicine box. also speaking of the medicine box; taking the small bottles and put some tinder in it and have it have some weird effects when lit. I think it may be cool if you could even put gunpowder in them. Im not sure but it could be fun and cool!

Side note: the size of the bottle would be in between the medicine bottles and the bottle for water

to be honest it's a good idea, i kinda know how it could be implemented and used, a small bottle like the one in the surgeon's kit, it would be cool to use them as impact grenades like this :

-empty a bottle, either drink or empty it on the floor
-put a red mushroom on top of it (as i believe those mushrooms are highly phosphorous, which is why they burn so well)
-push them and cram maybe 2 of them with a stick (the same stick you use to hunt fish or crabs, basically use it like a ramrod in the bottle)

then to use it, light the bottle's cog on fire and throw it, on impact the bottle could make a little explosion, it maybe couldn't kill but scare 3 or 4 nearby animals and make them leave, could be useful when you're surrounded by 15 boars x)

oh wait that's true...well either coconuts then, or we invent something together, they know how to pack flamable mushroom, and we can provide the bottles, and then we all have good ol molotov to defend ourselfs :>
