I know in a lot of MMORPGs in a fantasy setting you tend to have different playable races, and with those comes different 'racials' and starting stats. A game like this can't really rely on races due to the amount of work on art, so this could be a good take on it. Something like Elder Scrolls goes further with extras like what you suggest. I like the idea.

thats a good point though
like you could view it as a compromise between a too complex character&race system and a none existing at all
ok ngl thats a pretty cool idea
Where you lied on this chart would decide how NPCs interacted with you, and was changed by the monster types you killed, and weather or not you were a player killer.
Being a player killer would make town NPCs attack you, and certain quest lines could only be opened up under certain conditions.
reminds me of my suggestion thread, where i mentioned eve online's system, where your behaviour might even lead to issues entering towns if you behave like a bandit and rob people etc :p
actually that would be pretty funny if the system considers your writing. Like if you swear alot you get the vulgar status
Actually, yes, that would be funny
"You're registered as a "Vocal Offender"" - Debuff Applied - Time remaining : Forever"
We are looking into adding some from the cutting room floor stuff into the current project. Things like weather as well as weather affecting skills. Player housing is also on the table but not in the current scope of the project. The affinity system is a bit more difficult to balance and requires a lot of theorizing as well as consideration. It has the potential to shift the entire feel of the game
ig some things can be put on hold for future updates
so you don't overburden everyone with too much ideas and features, but just rather build a functional base game and then add updates with those features over time
like housing etc...
too complicated, wouldn't have enough impact to justify time spent on that.
i also think is overly complicated
This strongly reminds me of alignment charts. I like the idea of character background and behavior affecting the way NPCs treats you, a lot actually.
It's immersive and could directly impact gameplay in a passive way. Being the vulgar alignment keeps you from getting the usual quests, but perhaps makes "shadier" quests available. Food for thought.
