/suggest suggestion: A better upscaler would be appreciated. Competitors offer tools that multiply by x2, x4, and x8. The upscaler should allow access to larger dimensions such as 10,000 x 10,000 and 20,000 x 20,000, as found in competing products. Leonardo could also market this tool outside of generative AI plans to generate more revenue and increase the visibility of its AI offering. Currently, if I need to go beyond the enlargement options offered, I have to pay elsewhere, which means lost revenue for Leonardo.

I used to subscribe to iCloud, Claude Pro, and Leonardo. However, I canceled Leonardo because I primarily used it for experimenting with prompt building. Chat models don’t have the same token-based limits as Leonardo, so I could test more prompts in a day without incurring additional costs or token-based limits. Grok has been delivering excellent results lately. While some people can achieve similar outcomes, all my image prompts are AI-generated, and I’m curious about how they do it. Considering Grok’s consistency, I’m starting to wonder if I still need this service.

While other less copyright-restrictive platforms like Gemini are good, Grok provides the most detailed responses. However, popular platforms like ChatGPT and Copilot are more stringent, and my Pikachu prompts are consistently blocked when I try to use them.

Here is one such great result I got from Grok. It’s supposed to be a Wendigo-Pikachu

When combining Pikachu with something that also has a tail of its own AI will either add two different tails or replace the one the least dominant
But here is a Kitsuné-Pikachu

I could try and keep the lightning tail, but if it’s proving difficult for AI to do, I’ll just accept it as long as the other key features are there

The prompt structure I use to create these or at least the image prompts needed to generate them has grown so big that I need four or five separate external PDF files so nothing is truncated lost or forgotten in the export process

I’ve been working on a prompt system for over a year. It’s almost complete, but the quality of the images I posted will always be the same. I could apply any subject to Pikachu. I’d finish it sooner, but Claude seems to dislike power users. I use it for about three days, then have to wait four more before I can use it again.

My system has an option to retain Pikachu’s colours or override them with the secondary subject instead so apparently the colour isn’t yellow, but more of a gold

Most models have widely used aspect ratios so I just selected 9 x 16 and then cropped them to native screen resolution which for me is the iPhone 16e

That seems as broad enough to fix any issues it addresses what is allowed and what isn’t

Yeah the Universal Upscaler is good, but it changes the character's face too much, takes away the unique look and they all end up looking the same. Alchemy Medium enhanced what was there and retained the character's "identity"

Yeah, if you're upscaling at the original image size it does cost less which is cool. Using the Mid setting can work well, but it depends on the generation

it also may be worth playing around with the advanced settings for the upscaler. there's a lot of variation you can get by adjusting the sliders

so the custom legacy models are built on top of stable diffusion 1.5 and 2.1, as checkpoints, using textual inversion. we now also have a new way of making custom models, using low rank adaptation (what we call "elements"), that is compatible with the newer stable diffusion XL models, as well as with flux, which has better quality and prompt adherence compared to the original stable diffusion models we offered. I understand this isn't what you've been using with your current workflow, but since the new ui 2.0 was launch some time ago, many users have found they could get better results by using their datasets to create custom models that work with the newer models.

Law, I had a similar issue with certain characters that only looked correct in AlbedoBase XL - what I've been doing is generating them and then converting them with Nano Banana Pro and now they are consistent. If consistency is what you're after, that helped me. Also, are you referring to the OLD OLD Legacy mode, or simply the Legacy tab on the standard Image gen page?

(btw, I realize Nano Banana Pro costs a lot more credits than Albedo)

there is sort of something like it but its not all that perfectly consistent. usually if you use presets certain tags generally create one sort of person in Anime XL with those parameters. For example anime general, I created my first motion trailer using that strategy but gpt and Nano are far too superior in those terms now

biggest problem is always in clothes

I can get face to look same, but clothes always change

I got around this by creating a turnaround sheet - front back side views - of the clothing then use that turnaround sheet as a reference anytime I want that outfit. I also tell Nano to keep the clothing accurate to the reference.

Agreed. Albedo is what I use most, it's the best for fantasy and sci-fi. Other models are great, but Albedo has its own unique look, especially when combined with Elements I'll still stay for some of the other features, but unfortunately the app is losing everything that made it unique. I still love and use Flow State, and I don't mind the UI update, but I am sad that the heart of this app is getting ripped out piece by piece.

Without better reference image capabilities, they're just not useful. I bought a year because I thought they'd get updated like their old Phoenix models did, with SIX different kinds of reference image functionalities, AND the Style, Character and Object models...

The Phoenix models are old and weak, but you can get consistency out of them, and control that the MUCH more powerful Lucid base models aren't capable of.

Nano Banana is much less artful, but you can get consistency out of it, so there's really just no purpose for Lucid models unless it's just one off stuff, and Nano Banana is much cheaper on Google's platform.

Which really is a shame, because even compared to Nano Banana, the Lucid models have a texture... an artful feel to them that you have to really work to get near in Nano Banana. MJ can, but not a fan of MJ.

Know what? You're right. I was not liking the look but thought that it's their company, they will make changes, hopefully for the better. Anyway, I just ran into the first "OH there's less info here now, I have to do more to get what I want" moment. Previously, changing options shows how many tokens it will cost to generate, now I have to hover my mouse over it for it to show me how many tokens it will now use. Why do companies insist on enshittifying everything, for a cleaner look? You have made it less usable to me, pretty sure im gonna be pulling the plug on my subscription at this rate.

alright in my opinion this new transition it's also thing for me that shouldn't have been removed

i used it when I first made my account in 2023 and I loved it because of the "stylish" upscale it gave to pics done in models like DreamShaper or Absolute Reality

unfortunately later became restricted to paid users because of high GPU usage (why???), and to be honest and fair, I didn't like the other options of upscale (Refine & Smooth), I loved more the Creative one

and also, a honest question, why the Schedulers like DPM2, Euler a and these others weren't made for free plan users since the beginning? I don't get why they were made paid

then ofc as the new image gen UI with Phoenix and later models arrived by late 2023-2024, the Legacy mode starting to dying slow to today(which is a shame)

I managed to buy myself a paid plan last year just to test these legacy features I wanted to try so bad and yes, my beloved Creative Upscale and finally try the schedulers, only for a couple of months later when it simply was removed (the Creative Upscale). I wanted to use it a lot because I loved it in 2023 and I was a little, idk how to say it when I saw that I couldn't select it anymore because of "Creative Upscale is a paid feature due to it's high GPU usage. Please select another upscale option."

and also I used the Legacy Universal Upscaler, which also for me was a easy to go tool for images done on Realtime Canvas and Legacy Mode

I understand that maintaining this whole infrastructure it's a hard task, I know. But I just don't like when features that users loved are just removed in the blink of an eye.

Hey, really appreciate you sharing this. And genuinely, I get where you’re coming from. When something changes and it feels like you now have to “work harder” to get the same info, that’s frustrating.

On the token visibility specifically, we didn’t remove it to hide anything or just to make things look cleaner or prettier. We noticed that having token costs front and centre was actually adding friction to the creative flow. A lot of people, understandably, were min-maxing every action, constantly watching their balance and second-guessing which model or settings to use. That awareness of cost, while practical, was subtly limiting experimentation.

Our goal with the redesign is to make creation feel more fluid and less transactional. Creativity ideally shouldn’t feel like a meter ticking down in real time. That said, we completely understand people want transparency and to be mindful of usage, especially when you’re paying for it. So the info is still there, just not the first thing you see.

Long term, we’d love to get to a place where that cost anxiety disappears entirely, but with the current realities of AI infrastructure, that’s not something we can fully remove yet. This change is a step toward the kind of creative experience we believe AI should feel like.

That said, feedback like this genuinely helps us calibrate. If it’s making the experience worse for you, we want to hear it.

Why in the world did Leonardo AI remove the original upscaling tool. That tool is far better than the newer tool which barely does anything no matter how high the settings are. Bring the original upscaling tool back; and please fix the so called safety features, that more and more do not allow one to create the output one needs. It is getting to the point that I am (I doubt I'm alone in this) going to have to move to another platform.
