AI can be used to give good concept ideas, some you can even trace for shapes

professional work involves alot of editing of elements and shifting that is not available with AI unless you cleanly trace or recreate it like that

I did that previously myself

alot is not tracable easily but its great to give you a concept to work with

That's right, I've created concepts and ideas with AI to make banners and logos.

yes, because you need to edit the outcome usually due to client demands so alot of things cannot be directly sold as it is. I usually either take the concept or trace it over. Its wiser to keep it less complex because of that.

nowadays nanobanana and chatgpt can fill that gap though, however not always reliable for every kind of edit

The biggest problem arises when you need to scale the content and everything becomes pixelated

thats a very general raster sort of issue. Vector based stuff doesn't have that mess but AI doesn't generate in that truly

I did try to scale and I found that out too, even though you prompt in vector art, its never actually vector...it just looks vector-ish

rather than just taking a leap of faith in AI, its best to adjust things yourself reliably in Photopea

I did manage to use the trace tool to get the background looking decent but Im a video editor first and graphic designer second. 26 years with Photoshop but Illustrator is just so fundamentally different, im surprised adobe doesn't standardise their functions across all products, like something as simple as dragging a slider left and right without having to click into the menu and select what you want, all standard in every other app apart from illustrator. It's a slog alright!

Depends on what you want really. The best all rounder is Nano Banana imo though 🙏

The way I’d try to do it for items, at least, would be to use the base item icon as a reference image for Content Reference. I’d put it medium just so the model could generate around the shape but give it some freedom also

Im about done with Leonard.ai. all the moderation and being censored is really making me upset. Is anyone else feeling this way? Its like almost every time now when I create something. Can't dont do it because of some random word or phase I have in my prompt. Worst is I cant figure out what the word is. Sooo the background removal option for my generated image did a bad job- and it removed part of my character (working on a character).. What else can I do? Are there specific models that can do this for me in a better way? I asked nano banana and thought it did great but it turns out it replaced the background with the transparency grid rather than actually making it a transparent image without a background 😔

Hmm... can you then use the background removal on this new picture ? Since now there should now be a better contrast between back and front, it should remove it correctly

I can definitely try that! Expensive way to do it I guess but I'll try haha 😛

Alright that seems to work but it's still not doing a great job 🙁

My character has a very obvious dark outline- so you'd expect it wouldn't have an issue figuring out the edges- but it seems the white around the outline is faded away in some places rather than just removed 🤔

Was hoping to get sharp edges but it seems unable to do that for me

Could it be because my image is 1024x1024 and not upscaled further?

okay for sure! so to share an image, what I have found works best is to right click on the image (or long press if on mobile), and choose "Copy Image Address"
