I'm currently only on day 3 of testing leonardo, I've used other platforms with the goal of a consistent character and image to video and I can say currently I've yielded much better results using other platforms and combining results.

The character reference in leo from my experience is the worst I've seen, I saw the YouTube video and it looked great but when attempting to produce the same results it's way off on my end.

The trained LoRA in elements works great for reproducing a consistent character though

Hey Roberto, yes, there's an add-on that converts 2d images to depth maps, then converts the map to a mesh. It took a bit of trial and error to get the details crisp, but it works very well. The model does need clean-up afterwards though, and I don't know how great the topology is (haven't got that far in yet lol). I'll DM you the add-on name if you'd like, it's a commercial product (not mine) so that's why I didn't name it here. It works best with high-res images (4k seems to be a good balance with performance)

best in human video output and yeah I def have prompts that I have honed in on over time- but its better than veo3 regularly, and ive tested every bit of ai software/programs for images and video. kling can be good but its too expensive too and cant do text to video as good as motion
so yeah text to video with humans = best in class, and image to video is pretty incredible too (and better than kling)

Interesting , I don't have the same experience . I find motion to have a lot of warping and stretching. I found your other mention to be much more reliable, but maybe it's a difference in prompting 🤷‍♂️
This is my first week with Leo so we'll see if my opinion changes but as of right now I'm underwhelmed by the outputs of platform .

I sprung for the maestro tier so I'll keep testing variations on my styles but I can honestly say the outputs from the official videos , tutorials, and workflows that I've tested so far are long off the outputs I'm getting especially in the character reference department

One thing you could try is to set the character reference Strength to High, and make sure to not set other references as strong (use Mid or Low for content and style references, for instance). I find this works best with char refs. It also helps to use the same base image every time for that character, and then vary the poses, content, style. When I use that workflow, AlbedoBase XL gives me the same character every time consistently. I can't speak for the other models b/c I don't use them much. Hope this helps!

I still use Veo 2 Fast the most. Veo 3 will assuredly be better eventually, but Veo 2 took months to even out. Most models aren't reliable when they first come out. None are actually reliable, but they generally get less unreliable after 2-3 months past release.

Awesome, happy to help. I've found some characters just work better than others, no idea why. Another thing I noticed last night is when doing full-body shots with Albedo (like head-to-toe, so you can see boots/shoes) vs medium shots (mid-thigh to head), the face in the medium shots looks better and is consistent. Good luck on your tests!

it isn't about "loving" the filters, they are annoying to work with, but unfortunately there's many people who use AI to generate inappropriate content, so platforms have to cover themselves against it

if you are not generating anything inappropriate, like it is your case (if what you provided is accurate), you can use your prompting skills to go around it

Thanks for trying. It's still failing but I tried a different image and it worked. It seems it doesn't work when you try to change the pose of an existing character. When my prompt is related to inanimate object, it works fine. So this is some kind of censorship, but we are losing credits because of it so the policy should be clear on what is allowed and what not. Or at least we should get a message that it's refusing to do it.

It's kind of tricky, they put them in the same space rather than giving the new image its own slot.
Open your original image and you should see a drop down menu

The dropdown menu will list any other variations you may have made with upscales, background removal, etc.

Does Google even have image reference for Veo 3 yet? I can’t recall. But I’ll be waiting until Leo and Google do before really plunking down the cash as it’s so expensive to generate. The results are quite interesting though after just a few experiments. Better than Kling in some ways I would say.

hello everyone! I trained 2 AI models for character consistency. 1 of a man and 1 of a woman. The model for the man works very well and I am fully satisfied with the result but the girl cannot generalize it because Leonardo says that the operation failed. Hey Nich, yes, I did some Blender tests the other night that worked well. There are various depth mapping add-ons for automatic conversions, but there is quite a bit of manual clean-up and modeling involved. For most things, particularly characters and clothing, you're better of just using the image as a guide and modeling from scratch IMO, at least right now.

This image is a Blender render of a wall panel I did in Flow State, converted with depth mapping. It works well for this type of stuff. I haven't tested terrains yet, but if they are height maps it should work decent. Keep in mind a lot of the auto-conversions only look good from certain angles, which might be fine depending on your use.

I've been doing 3d for years though so maybe my expectations were a bit too high

Hello everybody. I've been using Leonardo for about a week. The objective is to create cartoon animal characters for illustration purposes. I have created a few and I am very happy with the results, but I have not been able to generate a second image of the same character. They always turn out different than the original. I used the Flux/Dev preset, Illustration style, 1:1 size and Prompt enhanced On for the original characters. After that I've tried with all three settings of the Prompt enhanced option using the exact same prompt with only slight modifications for the pose. I also tried the "Edit with AI" option on the generated image. Since the "Character Reference" option is not yet available for the Flux/Dev preset, I tried the "Style Reference" and the "Content Reference", but no matter what I try, the newly generated character will not look like the original one. I've tried generating multiple images at a time and a single image at a time with the same results. If someone can give me any recommendations it will be greatly appreciated. In case the prompt I've used is helpful, here it is: "a captivating, high-resolution illustration of a lovable cartoon tiger, depicted in a playful, energetic stance, showcasing a bright, toothy smile and wide, sparkling eyes that shine with excitement, adorned with darling heart-shaped earrings in both ears, featuring vibrant, soft cel-shaded orange fur accentuated by bold, black stripes, rounded facial features, big, padded paws, and highly expressive eyes and eyebrows designed for animation, with a crisp white belly and muzzle that complements her overall cute appearance, outlined with thick, confident lines, evoking a sense of fun and adventure, set against a simple, plain white background that allows her charming personality to take center stage, with a kid-friendly and appealing aesthetic that's perfect for a children's cartoon show, rendered in ultra-high resolution for stunning visual quality."

Nah, early motion 2.0 had really poor action animations and character interactions. I love that I’m so close to abandoning Runway and Kling. Leo is on a roll becoming the omni-app.
