Same model, same prompt, same image, same strength, same guidance scale.

1. The possibility of model change is unlikely but still possible. I think you're on the right track to detect changes by replicating the same settings. You just need to also use FIXED SEED AND have exact setting/dimension/elements/image source/etc to fully attribute source of change. Missing any one of this is missing something from equations.

Hey question for those Techy's that spend money. I been using a 2015 Dell intel i7 laptop with 32gb ram. why the option to buy a Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 CoPilot+ PC versus an INTEL laptop??

Thanks for the input. Yes, that makes sense for regular generations, and agree with your statement for that scenario.

In this case, I'm using the model and settings with Image-to-Image. I've used very carefully tested variations of these settings for months, so kind of "know it like the back of my hand" how this model and combination of settings will respond, and what it may or may not yield within a certain tolerance.

I almost always get something "pretty" even as I change certain specific settings.
Last night it was suddenly yielding hideous images. Like "body horror" level of hideous.
Definitely something was broken.

I didn't have time today to test thoroughly, but with a few runs it seems better now, so they must have caught it and fixed it.

I've signed into Leo with my cell phone, with a browser, and it performs at about the same speed as when I use my gaming laptop. Basically nothing is running on the user side.

Update on the optical illusion challenge: a friend from threads (n1ftey) said this: Tough challenge for sure. For prompting I would experiment using "ambigram" or "rotational ambigram" in the prompt sequence.
I'd also try taking the main image you want and rotate it in an editor, then use the inverted image as a start image for what you want to see when upside down. You'd have to keep the start image strength very high so it deviates very little, and you'd probably need to do multiple iterations, and possibly some post-editing/collage once you get close.

That method worked quite well! Created an image with a subject mentioned, then rotated it upside down, and kept most of the prompt but changed the subject. Added ambigram and optical illusion to the prompt. Used the upside down image as edge-to-image ref at 0.72

might also help to add the subject from the first image to the negative prompt, if it's interfering a lot.
