Tbf I think it makes balancing Casters more difficult because it can feel stronger with and without the Religion.
Wizards can start with 15% damage bonus with Flame or Arcane spells depending on Perks or up to 55% casting speed in Common gear.
Having the 7.5% pen is pretty strong considering this. especially when base resistance in most classes ranges from 15-22% in Commons unless you build for it.

So long as you take out most if not all of the archer skels, the fight is manageable. Shield skels are good for blocking orbs. If you position the lich between you and any remainig archer skels, theyll shoot him. Keep hp above 95% for circles. After circle, you get a healing buff so you can quickly get back to full.

I see a piece with 4 mag 4 phys and 1 weapon damage so pretty close to the roles you had, I believe weapon damage is a higher priority trait as well and it is going for 3900, but yea generally the crystal sword is a lower value item but that dosnt make it worthless not everyone can afford unique and will settle for a bis purple
