If you die instantly after loading into HR you lose like 2 or 7 AP I can't remember, you can make progress every single game, you won't die every single game. I would play arena if it was like this:

Pay for entry, maybe 150g
But you can purchase free meds and utility (with limit for weapon utility, surg kits per round)

Upon winning, you win your share of the other teams entry fee & arena doesn't drain your gold via med purchasing

Personally I feel there's nothing to really gain out of it so I just don't have the same level of hype
if there were stakes however i might main it

dwarf lifebloom druid with daggers is probably the play. dont go for the parry, just duck under everything circling left. if you get tagged, heal during the dreamwalk then go back in

i just like the quick pvp. its painful as a solo tho. you roll a d20 every game for your team and if you dont roll 20 then you lose

IMO it would be quick pvp still, just without the med finance drain & stakes for losing (losing 150g)

could still play arena for quick pvp, I think it would just give more incentive for those who want to really interact with the mode, but dont vibe with it at all because it's a bit surface level

All I want is stakes for playing arena, to either win the other teams entry fee or win their gear.

I'm happy to see all the other things you want in arena too, so long as there is (in my mind) a reason for playing arena to begin with, outside of 'quick pvp'
Something about looting chests to make a lil bit of gold back, never sat well with me.

I think stakes in arena is supportive of all these other things you suggest

in my headcanon, an arena, a colosseum match, has stakes, I might not be able to fully justify my opinion, but that's how i feel.
I play exanima arena mode a lil bit, which revolves around management of funds and earning via staking in the arena.
It's just how I have always known arena fights to be in history & in games haha

cosmetic rewards from ranking isnt gonna make me play it personally, i want gold incentive
