It's because there's no reason to play until wipe, which doesn't have to be the case. Arena is the end game man, plain and simple. If Arena were open (not the trash event from this past weekend) more players would be on and playing because it's fun and does have limitless replay value. How many s2r rounds can you tolerate when everyones just sprinting in squire kits past all mobs to find some pvp. It gets annoying toting around 30 skeletons just to get a few minutes of pvp in, why would any long term player want to log in right now? Easy problem to fix but the devs are willing to stare tangible data & requests for this in the face and ignore it, and act surprised when everyone eventually moves on

I think arena should always be SSF, I agree with cquinn here any time a season has started and arena is SSF legendary it makes grinding dungeons/hr fun and necessary. You keep running to find pieces you want for your arena kit & any real arena head knows the tweaking the kits never really stops, it should be SSF routinely. If arena is rare gear only you hit that kit ceiling quickly and don't need to hit the dungeons anymore. Heck I'd even be down for arena with HR mobs, I didn't mind the mob thing like a lot of other people did if anything it'd be sweaty as hell to pvp in 1 module with some nightmare mobs sprinkled in

No, the artifacts are too powerful & reduce the range of skill expression. tbh they had removed all random stats from gear briefly at one point, you could find unique stuff everywhere with no extra stats. Even that arena was great because it was just about player skill. Artifcats wash out a lot of that skill expression & it becomes a battle of which team has the better artifact combo, not class/skill combination

The interaction between gear quality/access as it relates to normal dungeons versus arena has been weird most of the time. The fact that legendaries were cheap to buy after arena went SSF is weird, it further reduces the need/drive to do HR dungeons. You can make far more gold by finding a backpack full of rare items than running a sweaty HR run and leaving with legendaries. If there was a better synergy across the tiers of gear quality that allowed higher quality items to actually be routinely worth more than lower quality ones I think it'd help the game overall. Not sure what the solution is as making arena minted doesn't cover it, and SSF only gets you so far. Of course a lot of this issues would be solved organically at greater player volume but I guess the challenge is finding the path to getting that player volume up because then everything is more flexible

I know they collect data. But apart from GEAR balance, which makes sense to use balance through data, class balance changes regard to gameplay mechanics rather than statistics.
