PVE being a threat is fine. I think in 3 vs 3 having more nightmare density isn't as bad. In solos it's obnoxious because there are some classes who have means for the mobs to ignore them while other classes do not. Coming from Mobas I can totally get classes being balanced and tuned for a specific game mode (trios) but there is no reason the mob density in solos can't be tuned separately.

the red portals' current implementation creates unenjoyable gameplay scenarios surrounding red portals. fights that aren't really fights, players waiting to third party. with prior iterations of red portals they worked like blue portals... you had to open them before you could use them. I think something LIKE that system create more hazardous player engagements. reds right now reduce danger and player agency in engagements. it kinda ruins the fun

Yeah the only map that isn’t randomized is maelstrom. All other maps and layers are.

I’d expect that to change for maelstrom too at some point.

Also going deeper or going back in isn’t relevant. Your AP/HR is the same, because you are inherently time limited. Going down is the same as going back in.

I’d recommend going down if you haven’t filled your inventory with individual valuables. Single slot items have higher AP values. So minimizing large slot items as much as possible is good. Eg. I think having 4 blue bangles is better than 1 purple bowl or candle.

they wanted to have SSF easier to attain for noobies arena kits, but didnt think about crafts having the exact same number of affixes as legendaries. they basically just made everyone redo their kits, at the marketprice. No farming involved, no ssf
