The amount of times i completely outplay a longsword user with my halberd but get oneshot anyways is fuckin pathetic. There's no justification to this state of longsword, every fuckin class that can run longsword is running longsword because it's just so fuckin broken nothing even comes close to it, every other weapon is hot dogshid compared to longsword, it has a very meagre movement speed penalty of -30 despite being a two hander and doing more damage than MANY TWO HANDED WEAPONS (zweihander (insanely tiny raw damage difference), spear etc.), it needs to have lower base damage and atleast 25% reduced damage on parries, the game is genuinely fuckin unplayable if you're not running longsword, stop coping, this shit is not fuckin balanced nor fair, look around you, everyone and their mother is running longsword FOR A REASON. Nerf longsword and make every other fighter weapon viable iron hammer!

Around 2 years ago, I played day and night. I woke up to play, when I slept I dreamed of playing, and when I wasn’t playing I talked about what we were going to do when we play.

Dark and darker we called it darker. Play darker, wanna play darker? Darker? Play? Rdy? Play play play.

Happiness from killing that first Ghost King. Sadness from dying with a bunch of good shit.
Adrenaline when we fought 2-3 teams in trio.
Laughing at some random shit in VOIP lobbies, pickpocketing arrows from some ranger.
Anger when a patch dropped and my class got nerfed.
Excitement for a new map, a new patch, new quests.
Pure joy when you hit that parry.

That stupid frog “gentleman” meme every week or so. Frustration when a random betrayed you we were all cutthroats, thieves, and murderers. I loved it all.

Damn, so many emotions. Gentlemen, it has been an honor holding the line with you.

There is an old saying in my country: when you defend, you don’t worry about the army attacking you, you look back to see what you are defending. And well… it hardens me to say this, but what is behind me is no longer worth it.

Maybe one day I will pick up my longsword again. But for now... my watch has ended.

I don't mind fire magic not working in water map, but there is an issue caused by the combination of fire magic not working in watermap and being forced to play a random map. Which is that you cannot safely build around fire spells when there is a chance you roll a map that disables a significant part of your kit.

I do agree with sdf on his reasoning, and the "controled number of random portals" thing was a big part of what i loved about early DaD. If it was for me, I pref zone... but the thing is: 1. Its clear the majority of players dont want this, and player numbers take a hard hit for it.. 2. We tested no zone a while back and it just isnt true that you cant find fights... 3. As long as they leave rope/gate/boat it is totally pointless anyway

first it was HOLD THE LINE if your allies are fighting, you better fight too cuz its gonna be over in like 3 seconds tops
then it went into healing meta, if you could heal with a cleric you would win cuz people were slow to catch up and do a 2v3 on a single person
then warlock came out and run and runner started, rangers realized they could strip and run if their team lost
then door and doorer, when people didnt wanna get shot from archers, then druid and barb meta, running down people. Then it was barb and barber then this patch kinda rebuffed fighters a lil (we are here)

I will write the definitive balance text. This game is basically rock paper scissors between close mid and long range. Rogue, barb, and fighter typically beat mid range casters if they get close range. Ranger beats everyone at long range, also they have a shotgun and spear at short range so wait... caster warlock beats you at mid range if you can't dodge or use the environment to dodge. Druid is spider man in marvel rivals.

The oversight is that ranger has no weaknesses, it's too good at mid close and far. If you play to any other classes weaknesses, regardless of what class you are you have a decent chance of winning, if a good ranger wants to kill you you pretty much just die.
