The impact resistance of the defender is mainly based on the shield type, not on the strenght/dex.
Buckler > Lantern Shield > Heather Shield > Round Shield.
There are some Fighter perks that manipulate the impact resistance stat.

However, the heavier the weapon, usually the higher the impact power. Weapons with more impact power (War Maul, Bardiche, etc.) will give a larger window to start the parrying attack on a block (most weapons have parrying attack, plus the lantern shield and the flute). Mornignstars have the highest impact power of 1-handers iirc.

im a new player that got addicted to the game, i sank 200 hours into it in what feels like a month but both me and my friend feel stuck right now
whatever we play, we always lose, if we pick up a ranged class we get W keyed by everyone but all other ranged classes we play against are untouchable
if we play a melee class we get outpoked but all other melee classes we play against just perfect parry everything and run us down

everything we play feels weak and useless when we play it, it feels like this game needs 200 hours per character not total...

for ex when i play rogue, i poke for almost 5 minutes and when i go in for the kill he 2 shots me and is still half health where-as against other rogues they 3-tap me all the time no matter what class

fighter seems completely broken, the class has infinite armor, is unkillable with its regen but still manages to run u down with a sprint ability...

also no matter what gamemode we play we die, again and again and again and again
normals? people are full turbo fully gemmed while we are timmy geared and have no idea what to do
and if they're in squire they do break dance moves when we fight them and we just die

squire royale? every teammate we have runs in 1v3 dies and disconnects but when i make it solo into level 3 it's only teams of 3
arena is never open when we wanna play it...
and high roller? we're still struggling against nightmare mobs and even if we weren't we have 0 gear and don't wanna lose our gear to turbo 5k+ sweaters when we're just trying to learn

quest, get good gear, and win. Also, learn general counterplay if you're struggling that much.
Fighter is tanky and hits hard, but has very little to close distance and has very low magic resist. Make distance, close doors on them, and if they get close just block and trade.
Barb is just god. Use immobilization, slows, and shields against the fatass to make distance and chip.
Ranger is a nightmare at range, but the second you close the distance or start blocking attacks, they're pushovers.
Most magic classes are insane against all melee classes, but need to make more distance than other ranged classes. And even then, other ranged classes do more consistent damage at a distance.
At the end of the day, the game is almost entirely decided by player skill and matchup knowledge.

If you main rogue, then you are entirely reliant on traps and bait for pvp.

uhhh okay, so for that it depends on per character.
For good gear, you run normals until you can afford a few HRs, then run timmy kits in HR to grind cash until you either looted or can buy a full kit.
For stats, all of the stats you listed (except for armor pen) are determined by your primary stats. I'll list them simplified below.
Strength determines melee damage (and ranged damage to a lesser extent) and gives 1 health per 2 strength
Vigor determines health and healing
Agility determines move speed and hives 1 action speed (attack speed) per two agility
Dexterity determines action speed (attack speed) and increases use/equip/interact speed (though slightly less than action speed)
Resourcefulness determines interaction/use speed and skill cooldowns
Will determines strength of magic spells
Knowledge determines how many spells you can take as well as how many times you can cast them
E.g. Having a higher strength means that your physical attack damage bonus has a higher base on top of whatever stat specific bonuses your gear gives.

Not required, it's just faster if you want better stuff for lower cost. If you want to get really good stuff without ratting, then go into lower levels in normals. Once that feels natural, move to HR and do the same thing.

As for the whole "everything is more damage" thing, yeah. That's how most stats in every game boils down. In dark souls, even your equip load just means how fast you swing when you get good enough.

Waiting, not all quests are available. They slow drip them in weekly intervals. Next batch releases in about 20 hours. Then every 7 days after that. This week should likely give up to legendary neck pieces. Next week, maybe, unique rings

altough with current ones, you should have up to legend rings (neck pieces up to purple). If you just finished the last quest, wait 7 more minutes. The inventory refreshes twice an hour

i tried playing poke rogue, poked for 5 minutes then went in for the kill and died in 2 hits
i tried playing archer, i hit 6 flaming arrows on a sorcerer and then he killed me while being 75% health still
i tried plate/spell (hybrid) lock, some melee ran at me and started swinging his weapon so i died ig
i tried cleric, i do bind -> jugement but then they're still in melee range and they swing twice and i lose the trade and die
and the last death was a barbarian who threw 9 axes at me so at some point i ran out of dodges and died

basically it depends on what your class does. For rogues, your daggers deal very little damage per hit, but swing fast. As a result, phys power and strength (which give percentage damage bonuses) don't do much for you, but dex makes you swing faster and armor pen makes your damage ignore a percentage of armor. One way to put it is that a dagger doesn't do much damage even with a percentage buff (typically only 1-2 more damage per swing), but a 10% reduction to armor on an enemy with 50% resist suddenly translates directly to 10% higher damage output (upwards of 4 more damage per swing).

Rogues are terrible at head on pvp. Always aim for ambushes on rogue.
Archers using that spell are terrible against magic classes (they have high magic res and can close distance faster than you), so that's just a matchup thing

Clerics going for pvp are support clerics unless they're drunk monks and debuffers. You always want to play support on cleric and never engage unless you're a drunk monk.
Barbarian is uhhh... yeah just close a door and run if you don't have crazy agi man.

Only meta weapon Warlocks had until recently was Longsword. Many classes can heal themselves, Hydra has been broken for years, invisiblity is stupid. Rogues and Druids have better escape/movement. No artifact is "warlock only".

i have been farming all bosses & does anyone else think bosses should have health depending on the mode, like if you go in solo its solo health, duo then has the health for duo and then same for trio? because i feel its pretty unfair that if you go do demon overseer as a solo its the same health as trios so, you could just do it on trios and smash it but instead it takes way longer as solo. the only good thing about doing it solo is you dont have to split the loot but still.
