well, in Dungeons and dragons (game they ripped DnD abbreviation from with bumass word and worder name) a wizard starts with basic, low damage spells, and as they level up, they get access to cooler spells, and also have the ability to scale the damage of the spells they already have. now, i understand for balancing why they give wizard all the spells at lvl 1, but its just boof scaling. their is very little mechanical variation in any way. half the artifacts have the effect of more damage and, yes, youre correct, some builds simply counter others, but not for any intuitive reasons diaplayed by mechanical variation. its all just boof scaling
