Longsword requires some practice to be good at, the current halberd is where the problem is

They just need to do 2 things to make halberd fine, reduce the sour spot damage, and reduce its impact resistance

And then the sour spot does an insane amount of damage still. Someone else said the sour spot should do .6 the base damage. Which i thought is a good change

Be rewarded with a truck load of damage for maintaining proper spacing and good aim, but get punished if they get in your face

it's not just the halberd guys... the halberd is just interacting with the melee mechanic changes they made previously. People are getting frustrated by the 10ft halberd hits as they run away. They're getting those hits because they aren't slowed by sheathing/unsheathing or by swinging. That full plate sprinting fighter is faster than your squire ranger/wizard/etc even while they're swinging

@woeful bluff mostly rogue with rondel / castillon, poison weapon, backpower, dagger mastery and pdr throwing knives, weakpoint + shadowstep... Not like I am W keying into them i trade first with handcross+throwing knives and once they start running usually shadowstep+ dagger them from behind but they just outlive it and 2 tap me regardless, even sometimes outrun me in full plate which is questionable to say the least

I just dont see any windows to get them tbh, in range they can use curses, in melee they can 2tap, once caught they can phantomize and once hit their next attack even when running is guaranteed to hit you because of the halberds range

Hmm. Rogue is tough anyways against melee. Id say just pepper them with crossbow and knives. Shadow step them too. And never let them fully reset. Its definitely gonna be hit and run tactics though. Unless you're in bis. If you are, you can 2 to 3 tap them all headshots. Shadow step should help a ton with decent damage then backing up and crossbowing or knives. Could always try and riposte with castillon dagger too. Yeah. Hybrid is tough. Gotta get good at dodging curses. Or stay out of range and again use your range. The window is very small if they have alot of action speed. But there are windows. Gotta play safe.

Thing is, playing safe usually allows them to just close a door, drink 1 pot, summon hydra + lifeleech of them and then they are back to full, by next window phantomize is up .-. idk I am already thinking about just avoiding them but pvp is more fun and i barely struggle against other classes just feels uninteractive.. but thank you for your advice Ima try that

I love cutthroat but the problem is the more I try to work into their weaknesses the less chance I get in closer fights for e.g. passive armor pen from 2 daggers -> no riposte, cutthroat -> less armor pen because no weakpoint or less dps because no rupture. Meanwhile for them its go squiregear 40+pdr, 30%mr, 2tap, get out of jail card (phantomize) and fullheal without meds .. was wondering if Wizard could be any better since they take bonus magic damage on phantomize

The only build that has consistently given me problems as a halberd fighter is BoC lock, maybe runner up to smite DP cleric. You either gotta have more W key power or gotta kite them out with ranged

halberd isn't the core problem; the issue is the melee mechanic changes they made while everyone was gone. There's no longer move speed slow on sheath/unsheathe and swinging, so melee isn't punished anymore and can just ape everything

Halberd issues stem from the weapon having long reach, super high base damage, fast attack speed relative to mentioned base damage, a sourspot that doesn't really punish them for being in too close, and a double riposte that does more damage than any other weapon in the game

that all may be true but that's not what people are complaining about right now - the real issue is the 3rd/4th swing that hits you from 10ft away after you already started kiting. This hit happens because the fighter/warlock isn't slowed by swinging anymore. And if the fighter has move speed skills active he's literally faster than a ranger/wizard even while he's swinging
