Really the only boss I took the time to "learn" was the stingray, and the satisfaction from doing so was immense

If you're only playing with people who bum-rush for content, then I would imagine that can get old quick. But the bits that matter are the in-between bits. Like having people invade your boss attempt and repelling them, or messing up because you're being reckless and recovering with just a sliver of your life

Seeing the story change and unfold as the patches come out

So many things that you can still get out of it :)

It also punishes legitimate players, which is unfortunate

But as for the uptick in arena stuff recently, I would imagine it's because they finally announce that they'd do arena rewards

So people are grinding out ranks trying to make sure they get it. So they're just constantly honing their skills for it

I feel like they might subside after the next wipe, but keeping it infrequent keeps it special

And s2r won't stay in this state, they'll probably add the other maps back in when they feel like it's in a good state to do so

For me it's a bit hard to get excited to run another boss or bother looting boxes or chests. I know that's def not everyones exp tho. IDK for a lot of my friends there from beginning the content got stale and the only thing that pulls them back for me is pvp.

I can see that, and honestly, I think the way to refresh it for you might be to just take a break and refresh

But I think squire is more than just rush to the center and brawl (I mean, if I wanted to do that, I'd probably do chiv 2)

When I'm feeling anhedonic with games in general, I just need to take a break and do something else, enjoy something else

Whether it's a short amount of time, or a longer one. Could be days, could be months, but if I enjoy it enough, I definitely come back

The build depth and melee combat of this game is what keeps me hooked. chiv 2 is fun. but there just isn't enough variety to keep me hooked the same way I guess. Yup I agree. I usually take break for a season or stop midway till more stuff or players return. I may just need a different pvp fix. The game could use some fresh paint(big changes or huge content additions, feels like not much has changed in the last several years)

not that this is relavent in any way. but have you every played the shadowrun xbox game? it was a pvp game where you could run different weapons and abilities. i though it was a great game when it came out and wish more games would follow a similar formula. Like the build-up to go into the ruins, or the entrance to the caves. Maybe we even become ship-wrecked as we load in (or we go to dredge the wreckages)

Even climbing the mountains could be cool

Stuff like that. Whether we got maps/modules that represented that, or we got more splash screens

Seeing the world breathe would be so cool

Like, where's the village that all the merchants are in?

Are they in one?

What about the forest around the ruins?

Where are all the other races that we haven't seen in-game?

I realize some things won't transfer well, as the game's identity is an extraction game, first and foremost

If the whole time you are forced to fight and pushed harder and harder, I would say there should be good reward for it.
At least my humble opinion.
Right now you get nothing good, and don't even time to do anything properly (like bosses), depending on circle.
Even in empty Inferno, if you kill Ghost king (and you are lonely party there), gold key drop is useless 9/10 times.

It is a battle mode, it's designed to be base gear combat practice and building up a pattern for the actual game loop. Spawn in, loot a bit, fight, descend, loot and fight some more, rinse and repeat.

and skills: rupture, hide. perks: ambush, stealth, thrust, dagger mastery

when I have a good kit sometimes I swap rupture by cutthroat

Also what ape said, use rapier if you're not already. Rapier let's you swing alot more, sidestepping is faster than back stepping, so get in the habit of turning your camera angle 90° and then sidestepping away from enemies. Both PvP and PvE
