There are a lot of problems with this game. People bring up a lot of good ones. One broad problem I see is that there's no "endgame" to PvE except "roll for a 1% drop on an HR boss." That's it. That's the entirety of what thousands of hours leads to in the main mode.

Arena is sort of the endgame to PvP. But there hasn't been rewards for it and it changes season to season. Sometimes during seasons.

yeah i mentioned earlier that removing normals, and leaving HR as the PvP mode, and adventure (non-pvp/normal) mode would be wise.

I think at this point if they are leaving Adventure mode in, they need to double down on it. long ago they dreamed of making bosses require multiple teams to fight (wyvern was supposed to be that way.) but the pvp nature of the game wouldn't allow for it. They now have the remedy for that problem with adeventure mode

Honestly, i want everyones opinions on this,

I think the playtests / early dad was better than now.

The more chaotic hardcore vibe is what had me and my friend pulling 2 all nighters in a row playing the game during the playtests.
You could literally go in with a rusty crusty dagger and get an insane extraction if you played your cards right, made it super tense and risky which was fun.
Now the whole rarity matchmaking and gear restrictions just feel safer and less risky, no more of the heart racing feeling.

Playtests felt more open ended, like you could play any item, any set of armor and it would work. it felt more... "creative" compared to now where it's alot more "meta/dominant picking" because scaling or specific weapons are superior by a long shot.

Idk, it just feels alot more shallow.

What do yall think?

I mean now it's fully meta based compared to old dark and darker where u could run a naked rogue for movement while just shoving your thick steel blade into people's fully armored spine and just jump around baiting them, compared to now where stupid shit like that wouldn't realistically be feasable.

There have been many solo metas in this game, but they usually last 1-2 months before they either nerf it, buff other classes, or change something substantial to stats so that the meta shifts.

I mean shit, ill be fully real in the pt i used to do some bullshit to rip people in the market getting a stash full of gold. It was a scummy thing to do don't get me wrong, but i got to do the most stupid funny builds that just worked out of stupidity.

The market might have something to do with that change in feeling. People being able to load in with pre-minmaxed meta gear is a different animal than Solo Self Found where everyone's working with whatever they could scrabble form raid to raid, so your off-meta scrap works because everyone's running off-meta scrap and people in real BIS kits are rare.

As far as the idea that having no gear score bracket creates a sense of risk, you can get that feeling if you want it by playing High Roller in Squire gear and seeing if your crusty dagger can net you a BIS kit. Most people aren't interested in losing everything to someone they could never have beaten purely because of gear difference, so I understand the gear brackets.

Squires to Riches seems to be the best game mode. Everyone loads in with gray/white gear, and it's a race to loot gear advantages and fight over the treasures. Nobody gets to minmax, you have to work with whatever you find, but nobody has to lose a bunch of stuff they worked for to someone who spent 30k before the raid started and feel like they got ripped off, either.

That sounds like being a noob and discovering the game. And yes, it was super fun. I wish it still were for the new players, but they will never experience the same excitement, when everyone was a noob.

As for me, I kind of get the same kick when trying out a new class/build. I wish we had more class choices, I think that's the best content.

not entirely sure myself and I'm in the same boat as austin when it comes down to it but surely the percentage bonus off max health only focuses on the base health of the character you are playing as it would be a very quick increase if you decided to pump your vigor through gear?

It's both. Vigor and Strength increase Base Health, which Max Health Bonus scales from. So if you pump Vigor, increasing your Base Health, you will see greater returns from Max Health Bonus.

So it's not scaling directly off Vigor, but Vigor increases what it's scaling from.
