Ranger is op. You gotta stop being so blind to the issue. I understand that it's fun. I do. But the issue is damage output. A ranger can do 2/3 of the health before a fight actually starts. Add backstep spear and some open doors and the ranger can very easily outskill every opponent except a druid. And only because of rat and chickens small hit box. You guys arguing and calling eachother ignorant garbage in this channel is not what it's here for. It's here to discuss the game. If you wanna talk about ranger and it being balanced/op then everyone here should be talking about dps. Rangers should be a skill based accuracy class not spam arrows.

If rangers are gonna be able to headshot for 80+ damage then reduce ranged damage to every body region except for head and increase the draw speed of bows to compensate.

Currently ranged damage output is too high and completely skews the fight towards the ranger 100% of the time.

Casters cannot get close enough to use their high damage spells and skills that are range limited and die before the fight starts. If they do get close a shotgun ends it immediately.

The moment a melee class gets into a fight with a ranger they lose the majority of their health and become one shot from a spear.

Left at 30% hp they are left with 2 decisions. Retreat and reset or push and finish. If they attempt to reset they get double shot and killed. If they push they get shotgunned or spear backstep headshot one tapped.

Ranger is op. But so is barb and fighter snd wizard and druid and rogue.

Every class needs some major adjustments because the past 2 years of development and balance have been uprooted.

Were now at the equivalent of modern soldiers fighting on a civil war battlefield. People can't just stand in rows and shoot eachother when they all have automatic guns.

anyhow, blue lobbies were the shit, i will die on this hill. Loved blue lobbies, especially since there was no buyin. I think the best time we had in dad was def the squires into blues into HR 224 into HR 225. I think that was probably the best progression the game has ever had.

I wish we could've just stayed there, added the new maps, and made sure to not put movespeed % on all gear. I think we were in a really good potential jumping off point, or even if we needed to drop lobbies, dropping hr 225+ was totally fine, and treating HR as the main 'artifacts in all' would've been superior.

probably never, since they'll likely crunch it out after wipe since it's a more permanent solution. Sadly, i don't trust the devs to fix the backend, but i'd suggest just taking some time to make sure you didn't lose anything that was paid

more likely than not they'll just full wipe on wipe day, and we'll have everyone on a level playing field. If they're smart they'll also throw the backend fix into the wipe patch cycle if they don't hotfix it or haven't hotfixed it already.

unless you mean losing access to the game on your storefront, if i remember right they have some instructions in the patch notes for getting it onto steam, but I wouldn't know the exact process, i'm sorry.

the hall of knights usually have all of the info u need regarding just about everything you could ask for, as well as personal coaches who you can request to teach you specific mechanics.

I used a knight to help me with longsword counters using zwei, for example, and they gave me a pretty long rundown on how to optimize dragged attacks and timings. it was very helpful.

Cyclops has been decently easy, i haven't killed it yet. I'm running lantern shield falchion fighter. I am in hall of knights server, haven't talked much in there. I didn't know they'd coach you through boss fights though

yeah they'll coach you through anything, just use their request a knight service, their knights are having high turnover rn so a lot of the inactive knights are being replaced with even more terminally online gamers, which means ur usually in for a good time.

parrying troll is usually pretty simple too, also i recommend circling right on troll as its wayy quicker and still safe

yeah longsword and heater/falch are kinda the goats for general content rn. they're both very mellow and defensively oriented playstyles which usually punishes the extreme lack of foresight that most dark and darker players have.

honestly, the only good crafts rn are very much the cheapest slots. Usually that's relegated to like, hand slots and foot slots.

a pair of cobalt hgaunts are essentially budget legendaries with a fixed doggy armorpen roll for 6 cobalt ore and a merchant green. then you can use cheaper gems, and cheaper reroll fees to make something that's just diabolical for super duper cheap.

they really are a top secret budget bis hustle. getting 4 rolls on a gear piece for roughly 200 gp worth of mats and then if u wanted u can buy gems for 30-40 gp and reroll for 50 gp if ur rolls weren't really good meant u never spent more than like, say 500 gold out of the economy to make gear that was genuinely just diabolical. it's still a strat i use even rn.

you can genuinely just make some pure bis on the cheap.

sadly other slots don't scale as well as hand slots. maaaybe feet and helmets but that's a 50% increase in mat costs.

Iron will gets magic resistance and knock back resistance to counter sorc. Its tanky af has long range melee weapons to counter bear form. Out melees fighter.

Wizard counters fighter and druid, unless a panther gets to you, and then you are folded instantly.. Fire mastery counters warlock, cleric, and fighter. Ranger and bard counter wizard. Sorc is sort of even, but I say wiz wins because they can spam more reliably. So yes, they are a fully functional class.

Rogue will kill you if they get to you, but on 10 spell wizard with light orb, that's up to you. If you catch the rogue, they're screwed because the burn will prevent them from invising and they will explode from your damage

It is the only way to deal with barbs. I don't run ice mastery if I am playing with my friends because I just back kite if the barb runs at me, but if your coms are poor or if you are dealing with the barb alone, they will run you down and face tank all of your damage if you can't freeze them. They generally have no counterplay to ice mastery, most won't even block. Once they turn around to flee from your spam, then you swap spells and kill them with explosion, fireball, or zap.

Knowledge for casting speed and memory. 10 spell is considered competitive because not only do you get more options, but you cast faster and recover spells much faster when sitting down. For learning wiz, run meditate so you can use spells a lot and recover them quick. If you are not running 10 spell, then you should run the perk that reduces your knowledge bonus but gives you 60% more casts so that you can use your fewer spells much more often. VIG is your best stat because you are the squishiest class in the game, WIL gives you more damage, DEX is not a dump stat because the animation for casting is impacted by action speed (especially if you run staff). I generally recommend maximizing movement speed, so I run frock, lightfoots (or occult if I need the knowledge), arcane gloves, leather cap. Spell book is a must over staff, unless you build bonk wizard, which is possible with ignite.

No, gold has always been easy to get. If we want to get into that, the only reason good becomes so inflated is because there's nothing draining the gold back from the players. We just trade it between ourselves for goods and it continues to stockpile amongst the player base until troll pelts are 10k+, good (not bis even) gear pieces are at least 1-3k a piece. You get the idea.

Game needs built in gold sinks that don't suck (like religion, stupid implementation with that).

Couple ideas:
-repairing gear
-buying gold storage from vendors (money gets dumped out of the economy, increased value of gold)
-Buying keys from vendors (same as above)
-add more crafting expense

I'm sure y'all can add to the list on ideas, but the idea is simple: gold amongst players stays equalized, so the price of items would too.

The shotgun is already ridiculous, it deletes you if you try to get close. But if you block it, like the genius above suggests, all they have to do is run away with their absurd movement speed, and the toxic infinite chase starts all over again, where they wear you down just enough to finish you off with a single spear hit. That thing is broken too and has way too much range. It urgently needs a nerf, it’s a brxindexd, toxic class.

And if the infinite chase wasn’t already stupid enough, add a skill that lets them escape and create distance just to keep shooting arrows that take half your health with each hit, and if they land a headshot, you’re done. Ranged weapons should be for support, not a way to win a fight. It’s ridiculous.

I disagree, I think them having spear mastery doesn’t make sense. The ranged class shouldn’t be helpless in melee, and I like the ability to use the ranged weapon up close once every 18s, but the scaling needs to be nerfed. You shouldn’t get 5x your true damage on that ability. Spear mastery doesn’t make sense imo because it makes them better than anyone else with a spear, and I don’t think they should be better than other classes with any specific melee weapon. But they do need at least one melee option that isn’t complete ass. You ever try running arming sword on ranger?

That’s not dps that’s burst damage. Dps is sustained damage over time. Barbarian is a great example because of the felling axe. The more you hit the more often you can keep hitting, to sustain the damage you deal every second. Having to wait 18 seconds between dealing damage is tiny dps numbers

Dps stands for damage per second. Let’s say a single ranger arrow in multishot does 15 damage. 15x5=75 damage. Once every 18s so you divide 75/18 and get 4.1667 damage per second. Now let’s say a felling axe hits for 50 damage every 4 seconds. That’s 12.5 damage per second. Holy shit that’s way more than 4!!!! Math is so cool!
