GG taking out the 'Loot' part of extraction looter game. Patch 69 was almost exactly that. It ended in a fiasco and rollback with SDF himself admitting it was boring. The current state with this semi-wipe is a very bare bones system, they'll be looking at the data and reshaping a lot of things based on it
Right now I feel the overall ability to kill falls on the weapon types used and the perks & skills of classes, as opposed to being reliant on what additional modifiers gear used to have to give an unreadable advantage in fights, which overall makes the combat and trying to fight better in concept
I personally like this direction to quash the gear gapping as stated in the EA 6.5 announcement and I'm keen to see how they rebalance classes' skills and perks going forward; as much as I hate to see solo and duo queue go temporarily, focusing on gathering data for trio environments is pretty crucial for them to rebalance weapons and classes before the major wipe in late August

I personally believe that if gear & weapon additional modifiers return that it would be most beneficial to have them adopt the system used for season 6 unique items, having one specialised modifier but with the efficacy based on the grade of the item (uncommon x1 of a standard roll, rare x2, etc.) so builds are more specialised and no longer made to deal with every scenario (+1 all stacking, HP stacking, true damage stacking simultaneously)
If this is done, I would personally be quite content

Imagine how difficult it would be to cut somebody who is wearing plate armor. Swords should do nothing to people in plate if that's what we are going with. (which is pretty tarkovy. some armor is impenetrable by certain ammo, balanced by weak spots in the armor). If that were the case and dads hit detection was good enough then it'd be cool. this game is way too arcadey for that kind of precision though. they cant even get shields to work right.

Full plate armor is lighter than modern soldier gear including rucksack, and its distributed all across your body. You can do cartwheels in armor. If armor were useless and cumbersome, nobody would use it.

The main issue with armor isnt speed, but stamina, you get tired much quicker.

Plate armor is typically not too confining. Real, good plate armor at least. Common misconception that people can't move well in armor. It hinders you a little bit but you still get pretty good range of motion. People spent days in it so they were designed to be pretty comfortable.

BTW. Any common two handed weapon with 55+ DMG - FCKING oneshoting in the head. Vigor curve has been changed and now u can't go higher than 120 hp. So it's always onetap. This game is for mad people. srsly

This game is so bad it's insane. It has nothing to do with the game at all either, it's the devs. SDF/Terrence/Graysun are genuinely the worst thing for this game. They do not understand what made this game popular in the first place and they've been trying to capture lightning in a bottle twice since they've botched the release on steam after it gaining wild popularity during its play test. The game had so much potential but with these devs it will NEVER reach that potential. Removing content and adding nothing new to the game for over 6 months is INSANE WORK for a team of " 100 employees ". Remove solos and duos, removing matchmaking ques for a system that forces you to que with others during the raid and guess what? Friendly fire is active and players will kill you for your loot that are teamed with you at extraction points. There is no direction, there is no game, there is no Dark and Darker because of the devs. The game we all played when it first released was a product stolen by Nexon and it made sense because it felt MUCH better than whatever this is.

so rn they gotta do something, no one wants no rolls on gear, give less options, less quantity, but not none, when people said "high end gear is too op" they didn't mean the blue with 2 rolls on it, they all ment the legendary with god rolls or the unique with +4all or with +4true, by removing all stats they made some of the balance options useless. Healing warlock doesn't work, healing cleric fr useless now, and that applyes to any class that was highly dependend on true dmg. Rogue has less weapon dmg on all daggers while having +5True ph dmg on unique frost amulet, so now rogue has to reach more strenght just to do ANY dmg, while ranger got +4 to windless and +2 to longbow, think about this, any tanky class rn is barb maybe fighter, fighter HAS to be full plate just to get pdr while being under 10% MDR, while barb is... barb, y'all know, a lot of hp with a lot of mdr and PDR. but beside those two no other class can be "tanky" without giving away all of they're dmg~ Wizzards/sorrcs" are now under 100 hp with under 30% MDR/PDR while in full uniques, even while running full vigor gear on a wizard, you can still get 1 tapped by a windless ranger with 30+ strenght, how is this balancing the game when everyone gets 1 tapped by everyone?

Fighting was always fun. But the appeal of fighting was the potential for loot upgrades/money. The act of fighting itself was, meh okay... but not the games strength. Strategy in builds AND reward potential AND the strategy of engaging/disengaging was what made it fun. The core mechanics of fighting aren't very good in DaD. As a purely PvP focused game now, this game will die quickly

Crazy when I started like 2 wipes ago we had 30k + on steam alone… gear score lobbies will always be PEAK DaD. Nothing was better than bringing one epic weapon into a 124 GS lobby and going crazy with it, good times.

I also liked blue max “mid-roller” lobbies(which sdf only tried for a few days before changing it to common max) it made every piece of gear worth something. I would run green pants , shirt and necklace with +1 all and then some nice blues for the rest. It taught players how to build kits at a realistic price/playtime point. I have a job and a family so I can’t grind all the bosses in HR to get insane kits. I can afford 2-3k gold kits, all blues with some nice greens. Got to try true damage on rouge and ranger , and some other cool stuff without breaking the bank! Having only common or artifact as our two options was / is awful. I guess it doesn’t matter too much now with no rolls on gear, but man, why only try the blue lobbies for like a week? It had to be putting up crazy number, every game was packed with players and pvp. Sdf was cooking with blue lobbies , idk why try it and switch shit so quickly with no community feedback??

Just feels like the developers don’t really care what the main player base wants and just want to make a game for themselves. Most of us have spoken via steam reviews or simply by not playing, reflecting in all time lows for player count after wipe. Sad to see such a good game go in a wrong direction. Hopefully they listen to their players and right the ship before it fully sinks, which it already has in most players eyes.

but it's so sad, dark and darker got my intress from playtest 1, but from early acces to wipe 6 just a bunch of letdowns and bad updates, when they added solos/duos first~ kinda trass cuz solos on GC duos on Mountain and trios on cripts, after that another bad idea by adding rotations, just to wait 3 minutes to queue solos on a map, and than good idea adding solos/duos/trios on ALL maps, great after that, just removing solos/duos from norms, and now from all without autofillm,that 1 Poop change.
Now for number two, the items :D, "BALANCING ITEMS" adding+4 weapon dmg to the highest damaging weapon in the game while removing random stats(hp, vigor, armore rating) while decressing classes HP by a WHOPPING 20 WHILE ADDING A WHOPPING 50% INCREASE IN HEAD SHOOT DMG AND 25% IN BODY dmg~ where is the logic in those changes back to back? are the devs not actually talking with each other?
But HEY! they fixed the shilds and blocks overall in PVP, don't block the pve, you will lose half of your hp now(hp lower, and pdr also lower, kinda)
Where our gathering hall map? we didn't want "gathering hall with speciffic languages" oh yes, its of great help that now I from China can speak in franche with lill Timmy from Canada on gathering hall france~ where is the point in that?
Also, after 6 god dang seasons, the friend list mechanic is still bad, just stop and integrate the steam one, why even try? At first, I really didn’t like the new gear changes. But after playing for a little while I have high hopes for this wipe. One thing I really appreciate is the fact that the classes feel like the classes again, example: fighters are slow (except sprint), and rogues are fast. A barbarian can 1 tap a rogue, but a rogue has the speed and dex to dodge them if he is skilled. I will admit the skill gaps between a few of the classes is nuts. But nonetheless, the game feels more balanced than it did 3 days ago. Good job SDF.

All gear is now completely worthless meaning no real reason to even loot since white gear and legendary are so similar theres no value to gear. 2) This doesn't matter to me but a lot of the playerbase enjoys playing solo/duo/trio lobbies, and the current solo/duo options are practically non existent. 3) headshot damage multiplier has been increased from 150% to 200% damage, while also lowering base vigor and HP values, making TTK (time to kill) practically less than half what it used to be. 4) @glad thunder the owner and developer of Dark and Darker, does not listen to his community and the core 5k+ players that play this game every day for the past 2+ years. 5) This update is the worst update out of any update to ever come out for this game sheerly due to the fact that the last update similar to this was not vastly this extreme in terms of random modifier removal ( zero random modifiers on gear) which removes class identity due to the removal of certain builds and playstyles due to lack of possible memory capacity/knowledge/true damage required for certain builds to succeed. 6) game is now completely damaged beyond repair due to the above aforementioned 5 reasons of why the game is no longer playable.

Yeah, except we're not the devs. It's not our job to fix the game. When they made the game so much worse to the point that just reverting the changes are an immediate improvement, we don't need to offer a solution in order to tell them that their changes suck major ass.

Here's what happening: game was nice, people could play however they wanted, solo/duo/trios, blue normals, epic hr or artifact HR, gear was in a nice spot and looting felt rewarding. There was a place for everyone in this game. Now they make the game only trios (only 30% of the players were playing trios), they reduced the time to kill to 1 second (barb just one taps most of the classes, and rangers two taps), they make gear gap so little that looting doesn't feel rewarding at all.

How to fix it? Just leave the game how it was before they removed solo/duo and blue normals and HR EPIC brackets...

The level of censorship here is worse than 1940s Germany. The fact that they are going through and deleting the negative messages proves how much of a terrible staff these guys have. Imagine being so insecure that you have to pretend and try to hide the mean messages online over an update that they put out. How anyone ever agreed to hit push to live on this patch I will honestly never understand. They need to freaking own up to the fact that they made a mistake and fix it....
