I don't think the 100 to get into an HR lobby is wrong at all. It incentivises playing the game in a way that is conducive to the "hoard loot" mindset... its more conducive to keeping things you may not want but might need later. You have to think about breaking even before fighting. Prioritizing your life and inventory space and such. Like fr the game is so much more than "me see people me fight people" that's what arenas is for. That's why you don't lose kits there but you lose em in THE ACTUAL GAME.

Regardless of all that... newer player should try HR if they think they like the game enough to actually play the game and not the easy mode. Working around randomized color mobs to get through a tile is part of the challenge that is the game. Doing it with squire gear gets easier and easier. People should be incentivised to do more with less... encouraging people to min/max against BRAND NEW PLAYERS is toxic... it deters players and the strong stay strong in unhealthy ways.

There is no longer a gear check in commons. It's all a skill check this makes it better with time and LESS TIME at that than it would with blues. New players should be happy and old players should get in HR where they belong anyway.

I have an easy fix for the queues, make Ruins the only map ( solo, duo, trio ) and each bridge exit ( currently 2 they can add 2 more + red stairs ) leads to different maps ( goblin caves, Crypts, Ice Caverns ) you can reduce the number of queues to 5 per region ( adventure mode trios with the option to not fill, normal trios with the option to not fill, HR solo duo trio ) @glad thunder

the problem is they need both, commons are good for certain things that have been discussed

rare lobbies were good for giving more people a chance to interact with the gear system and making builds and things

Ideally they have lobbies that make each kind of gear relevant so finding stuff in the dungeon feels rewarding

I just got a message from my friend "They fucked dark and darker, anything that I find that's green, blue, or purple is irrelivant now."

People want to find stuff and have a reason to use what they find and most people don't feel like throwing it away to getting ganked by people in full bis unique gear is worthwhile.

The ideal game progression is really a queue for each level of gear that can find gear for the queue above it so people can work their way up and it gets harder as you go, but when you lose it you can just start again at the lower gear tier lobbies and still have fun/progress

Literally may as well delete any items from the game that are below quality for what you can enter the dungeons with if we aren't getting more different kinds of queues back

Solo queue is by far the most popular queue. Removing it is a completely thoughtless move. Adding "communication options" is not the problem with trios. the problem is, without a premade team, you get dominated. A premade team is not a group who found each other in the discord and hopped in a game.

Now, you are about to make every single queue that is not a pre-made 3 man face the risks of getting a player who will troll, run off to loot, screw up boss fights, and just take off as soon as pvp enguagment starts.

Let's have a productive discussion about the game we love on the subject of removing solos/duos: as we know, dark is going through a player population issue, and this is creating dead lobbies. We can all agree that dead lobbies in any queue is a problem, since not finding a game should not be acceptable and players may leave (I personally stop playing if queues are more than 5 mins). To my knowledge there are two ways to address this: a) increase player population and b) reduce the number of queues (solo/duo/trio, maps, gear brackets, etc.). Option a) isn't viable as an immediate solution (without a lot of development time for large content drops or player recruitment campaigns). Option a) might not even be a long-term solution either. Many games have decreasing player populations. Let's assume for discussion productivity sake that option b) is the only available option. That begs the question: what queues get the cut? Many people seem to be arguing to bring back solos. If solos comes back, what queue gests cut? Does HR go away? Does trios go away? I argue that cutting trios is the worst option, because the entire game is designed around trios. Some argue that since solos is the most popular mode, it should be the one to stay. Does this make sense long term thought for the future health of the game? Would dark and darker balanced around solos create a healthy game? I am not sure. Let's be honest, players ask for things and don't understand the results of what they are asking for (e.g, asking for looter extractor with gear but not having a gear diff, which led to that awful patch 69 or w/e where every peice of gear was the same). If we balance for solos, do we balance for norms (common item lobbies) or geared lobbies? Some classes do differently? What about all the classes like bard that have a huge teamplay apect?

I think a solution to our issues is: a) removing solos and duos from HR b) bring back common-grade solo norms (not duos for dead queue reasons) , and leave trios only for PvE mode, since you can just solo queue into that and won't have to worry about getting pvp gear diffed. If we bring back norms blue lobbies, that will hurt HR trios, so it's probably best to just remove HR entirely. I don't know guys, but player population is an issue with too many queues

The PVE fucking sucks in it. Mobs and desync on that map is intolerable. The only place where you find pvp is in one module in the center of the map. And the ice abyss is even more shit with even shittier mobs that you can't practice in a practice mode.

Solo and Duos was a good way for people to pick up the game with their friend or by themselves and potentially invest time and money into the game. I 100% agree they should bring back solos and duos for normals. in my mind there are three brackets. PVE, normals with solos, duos, and trios, and then HR with solos, duos, and trios. there is no gear limit for any but the game ques you based on your gearscore going in. at the start this might lead to some dead lobbies and need some tweaking but it would give reason to people using greena nd blue gear for normals. it would also make it to when you see poeple you dont have to worry about them having full unique. you know they are roughly on the same power level as you and will let you gauge the fight better.

As a mostly solo only players, I can live without it. It being available in HR was enough for me... but why change normals to squire only? Been having a blast in blue normals. I could even compete against teams as a solo with some clever kits/builds. I can't even use the classes I like most in common gear. When the blue-norms lobbies were a things, market prices reflected the fact that purple+ rarirty had no value. Why pickup a purple longsword if you can't wear it to norms. My point is, to an extent, there was always this issue of high-tier gear not being worth anything because most players play norms (which restricts the gear rarity being worn)

I think the issue is the core design of the game is targeted for a hardcore player audience, but over time the player population increased and was mainly casual. If you make a hardcore feature, your majority player base won't care. If you make a casual feature, the hardcore playerbase won't care (like for me, 1700 h+ with HR trios as my main mode, the PVE mode was a waste of time for my enjoyement. Of course, I am on board with such a mode, since many newer players can enjoy it)

yeah I agree. They are really trying to push the end game mode. and they shouldnt sweat it. just cater to both audience its really not that hard. PVE is great for casual players and new players.
